"I was a bit apprehensive about going with COVID on the rise but the owner phoned to confirm that all safety measures were in place and we arrived to a thoroughly clean/tidy/comfortable property."
We had a lovely much needed break, thank you

"Really disappointed with the cleanliness of the lodge particularly in these troubled times, to find old food in the cupboard and condoms in the bedroom draws didn’t reflect a high attention to our wellbeing."
We adjusted our party size down to allow for the rule of 6 which was out of your control but I’m not sure had the other 2 people attended that we would have managed poorly stocked on kitchen utensils and crockery. The working farm unfortunately caused a stench with slurry pit most evenings and the noise from the road with lorries was louder than expected. Such a shame as the location was great the grounds kept very well.

"The lodge was very dirty, there was no WiFi and after asking very bad signal."
The promised pub and restaurant were closed. ( not mentioned on website of sykes or property) Owner was friendly but cleaned myself already ( cobwebs, grease al over the kitchen, hair and dirt in bathrooms) We had breakfast on the house 3 times.
Website of the property says it’s self catering for 500 a week and we paid over 800!!!
Very very disappointing

"The Lodge was fine - roomy and clean - the surrounding area is great countryside with lots of interesting places to visit."
The lodge is a very short distance from the Tissington Trail which has links to other trails. BUT included in the holiday was the use of the adjoining hotel for morning coffee, afternoon tea and evening meals. The chef however had left so none of these facilities were available. The holiday was booked with the consideration that convenient facilities would be on hand! This obviously was not the case so the holiday failed to meet our expectations.

"The lodge is very nice but there are a few details that may make the experience even better."
Not many of the tap washers worked very well and it was very hard to turn off the taps - waste of water. We were looking forward to watching the first episode of Strictly when we arrived at the lodge, but there is no signal for BBC 1 or 2. We watched the programme in the bar in the end.
The lodge might have been a little cleaner, a lot of dust behind the beds and the oven was grubby. However, on the positive side, the lodge is cosy and the beds were really comfortable with lovely clean bed linen and towels.
The staff in the hotel were lovely and made us feel really welcome and the lodge is in a great place for a base for exploring the Peak District.

"Negatives- only one tea towel for whole week- only one bin bag for whole week- only two outside chairs (when lodge is supposed to cater for six) we were a party of 3 which meant one of us had to sit on floor- tv signal was not good we report this to hotel but they put it down to the hot weather!"
!!!! Overall a lovely lodge and we had a pleasant stay.

"* While our accommodation gave the impression of cleanliness it soon became obvious that there was a lack of thorough "deep" cleaning e."
G. chewing gum, sweet wrappers and dirt underneath the settee cushions. The window blinds were also thick with dust and with cobwebs behind them.
* There was very little literature provided to explain how the appliances worked - nothing for the boiler, the dishwasher and the DVD player and the hotel receptionist was, perhaps understandably, of little help.
* The Lodge was poorly equipped. There was a lack of glassware, cutlery, crockery and utensils. Although the accommodation is supposedly for 6 persons there were only 3 wine glasses, 4 forks, 5 knives, 5 dessert spoons and 5 teaspoons when we arrived. We had to ask for more. The hotel staff were reluctant to make up the number when we asked saying that it should have been checked before we arrived - but it obviously wasn't!!! There were also only 3 saucepan s- none of which were big enough when cooking for 5.
We did go round and ask to speak to the manager on 2 occasions but got a different story each time of when she would be there - and she certainly never bothered to come and see us to respond to our complaints. The staff we encountered were very polite. I think the poor standards in the Lodge are the result of poor management.
On the plus side the Lodge is in a brilliant location - right on the Tissington Trail - and these criticisms could be put right so easily.
