“* While our accommodation gave the impression of cleanliness it soon became obvious that there was a lack of thorough "deep" cleaning e.”
G. chewing gum, sweet wrappers and dirt underneath the settee cushions. The window blinds were also thick with dust and with cobwebs behind them.
* There was very little literature provided to explain how the appliances worked - nothing for the boiler, the dishwasher and the DVD player and the hotel receptionist was, perhaps understandably, of little help.
* The Lodge was poorly equipped. There was a lack of glassware, cutlery, crockery and utensils. Although the accommodation is supposedly for 6 persons there were only 3 wine glasses, 4 forks, 5 knives, 5 dessert spoons and 5 teaspoons when we arrived. We had to ask for more. The hotel staff were reluctant to make up the number when we asked saying that it should have been checked before we arrived - but it obviously wasn't!!! There were also only 3 saucepan s- none of which were big enough when cooking for 5.
We did go round and ask to speak to the manager on 2 occasions but got a different story each time of when she would be there - and she certainly never bothered to come and see us to respond to our complaints. The staff we encountered were very polite. I think the poor standards in the Lodge are the result of poor management.
On the plus side the Lodge is in a brilliant location - right on the Tissington Trail - and these criticisms could be put right so easily.
