“Great cottage - clean, comfortable, and really liked the smart new bathrooms.”

The location was also fantastic, right in the middle of an attractive and peaceful village, amidst lovely countryside, with a mixture of easy and more challenging walks straight from the front door. The cottage is well-equipped and also had lots of useful information about local walks and places to visit. The host was helpful and easy to communicate with. We would be very happy to stay here again.

The property

Detached character cottage built from traditional stone in the heart of the stunning village of Alstonefield, multiple winner of the ‘Best Kept Village Award’, and in a great position to explore the Peak District and Staffordshire.

With many traditional cottage features and plenty of space throughout, this property is ideal for families and friends to explore the fantastic walks on offer right from the doorstep.

The cottage is set over two floors, with a large hallway and grand staircase; there is lots of room as you enter the property and more upstairs with three large bedrooms.

A large dining room, with character stone wall and beams, is a great place to enjoy a meal together after a long day out exploring, then you can move into the sitting room to relax on the luxurious sofas.

A lawned garden sweeps all around the property, with beautiful shrubbery throughout as well as a paved area with table and chairs to enjoy the evening sun whilst planning the following day’s activities.

With a local pub serving good food and a Post Office open two afternoons a week in the village hall, this is a great location with handy amenities.

There are fabulous walks from the doorstep of the property and being close to Alton Towers, it is an ideal location to visit no matter what you plan to do whilst you are away.

Enjoy this fantastically-located cottage at any time of the year with family or friends.

About the location

ALSTONEFIELD

Ashbourne 8 miles; Alton Towers 10 miles.

The delightful village of Alstonefield lies on the borders of Derbyshire and Staffordshire between the valleys of the Dove and the Manifold Rivers. A village of real charm and character, Alstonefield has won the 'Best Kept Village Award' ten times (most recently in 2005) and been in the final of the 'National Village of the Year' award in 1998 - a remarkable achievement. A lovely village, it has a truly delightful country pub set on the village green and is surrounded by lovely verdant green countryside. The Manifold River cuts a course through superb scenery and is a delight for both walkers and cyclists with the 'Manifold Trail' following the route of the old Leek to Manifold Light Railway. Nearby are pretty Ilam and Hartington with nice pubs and a wide range of shops and cafes, whilst further afield are the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek.
