"Location was excellent for a variety of restaurants."
The cottage itself could do with a little tlc for example: the paintwork was a little tatty, one chair in the kitchen had a broken leg and was cellotaped back together and the mattress in the second up stairs bedroom was also broken, the mattress was caved in on one side and was literally touching the bed frame itself. For this reason two of our group had to sleep in the campervan which we had luckily taken with us.
Thank you for your feedback. One of the spindles on a kitchen chair had come loose, although the chair itself was still secure. We hadn't spotted that the previous week's guest must have tried to fix the spindle back in place but, either way, we have now replaced it. The mattresses are all relatively new and it is certainly not correct that anyone could 'touch the bed frame itself' on any bed. One single bed does have more give than we would like, however, and we have ordered two new mattresses for that room, which will be delivered next week. If the guest had mentioned this during their stay we would, as ever, have tried to find a solution as quickly as possible. The decoration is to a high standard, as photos which were taken by Sykes recently show and the kitchen chairs are restored shabby chic chairs. Property Owner
"The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped but lacks any garden and the only outside space is the car park."
The sign for the pub is incorrect and misleading. In fact the pub no longer exists and the pub within 0.2 miles is closed. The property is situated close to the extremely busy A6 and there are current road works within 50 yards, very noisy Mon to Fri, 8.00am to 6.00 pm.
Thank you for your review. We're pleased you found the cottage clean and comfortable. Buxton is well blessed with pubs. The 19th Hole is 200m from the Coach House and there are another two within half-a-mile. They all have good reviews. The sign by the Coach House is because the property used to be part of the Devonshire Arms! We hope that didn't cause any confusion. There is seating at the front of the Coach House and ample parking for two vehicles behind the house should you wish to make the most of the sunshine. The new roundabout about 100m away won't be visible from the Coach House, especially as more trees are planted on the common. Unfortunately the roadworks are out of our control but thankfully they haven't caused too much disruption. Property Owner
"Excellent property in a great location."
Everything was provided in the house and you really couldn't ask for more. Close to Buxton which has the normal high street shops as well as different and quirky shops. We were a little disappointed as we hoped to be able to walk to Buxton from the house but the hill proved too much of a challenge for the older members of our party. But this a minor point and did not impact our holiday at all. Q
Thank you! There are some great independent shops and cafes in Buxton and it's good to see them thriving. Hopefully see you again. Property Owner
"Lovely house, clean and comfy."
Good location to explore the Peak District and close to many nice pubs and restaurants. Well equipped. Good communication from host. Good amount of parking.
Thank you! Lots of nice pubs, restaurants and walks around the Peak District make for a perfect break! Hopefully see you again. Property Owner

"I stayed here with some friends and we would all recommend The Coach House."
The listing was accurate and communication with Hayley was easy and helpful. The property was spotless and the rooms were all spacious whilst comfortable. The range cooker in particular was brilliant and the kitchen was sufficiently equipped. The gift basket was a welcome addition and the recommendations on local walks were very helpful. Would definitely stay here again with either friends or family.
Thanks for the kind words. The Coach House is a great base for exploring the brilliant walks around the Peak District. Hope we see you again soon. Property Owner
"The Coach House is in a great location."
It has very easy access to Buxton and there are many walks only a short drive away. The house was beautifully decorated, clean and well-equipped. The owner was very helpful and the welcome basket was a nice touch.
"Good location - easy to walk into Buxton and short drive to walking routes."
Ideal for families due to size
"Comfortable, large house and good location."
Facilities great and the owner friendly and helpful. Very spacious for a family.
"The welcome basket was a delight and a real treat"
"Great location for dog owners, straight out into fields."
10 minute walk from town centre. Owner friendly and helpful. Buxton pretty town with lovely park and lots of bars and restaurants
"The property has no privacy whatsoever."
Overlooked on all sides as people pass within a foot or so of lounge and downstairs bedroom windows. Impossible to enjoy a glass of wine sitting outside and looking over the golf course - no seating and a constant stream of traffic (Inc heavy lorries) on the A6 which passes 50 yards away, obstructing the view. Kitchen equipped sparingly - tired pans and cooking trays, lack of basics like scissors. Not a house for the peace & quiet and solitude one expects from a country cottage. I will be emailing you separately with a couple of photos.
Thank you for your feedback though we were surprised and disappointed to hear of your dissatisfaction. We pride ourselves on our excellent standards which is reflected in our usually excellent feedback. It is a shame that you did not express your concerns when we saw you during your stay as we would have been happy to try and resolve any problems for you. The location of the property has been highlighted as an excellent base to explore Buxton and the wider Peak District so this may not have suited your needs if you were seeking a property that provided solitude. Since reading your comments we have checked the kitchen equipment and are happy that we provide all the utensils a guest could need in a self catering holiday home. Property Owner
"We had a wonderful few days away at The Coach House, it was well equipped with everything we needed and all beautifully decorated and clean."
Perfect location for walking into Buxton and exploring the area further afield. The welcome basket was also a lovely touch and well received!
"A very comfortable cottage."
Welcome gift a nice touch. Helpful but not intrusive owner. Easy access to the town and to some great walks
"The cottage is well placed , near to town and pubs etc."
The cottage is furnished really well with attention to detail , and the beds very comfortable with lovely bedding. . Loads of parking at the property. May be an idea to leave more bin bags , but overall the stay was perfect. Would recommend.
Clean, spacious and well equipped. Beds very comfortable. Will use again!
"The property was well situated for trips around the Peak District and for spending time in Buxton, a lovely town."
Unfortunately I managed to break my right ankle on the first day but being in ground floor accommodation was a bonus. Were able to borrow a wheel chair from the Peak Authority which was brilliant as our visits were not completely curtailed. Overall a holiday to remember.
"The cottage was really nice and fairly well equipt."
One thing to note is although there is a washing machine there is nowhere to dry your clothes. A clothes airer would have been good.
Beautifully presented. Great location on the edge of Buxton ideal for access to the town and exploring the local area.
"Excellent cottage, Hayley was brilliant."
. it was a freezing february.afternoon when we arrived and she had ensured the heating was on so it was lovely and warm when we got inside...there was also a welcome basket with beautiful biscuits ,a bottle of wine, and fresh milk. . hayley was lovely and messaged several times with weather information and to check on if we were ok. we would definitely stay there again.thank you
"Lovely cosy brand newly renovated property in a convenient location on the very edge of Buxton."
Well equipped - would recommend.
"Lovely cottage in a very convenient location."
I had made a mistake when booking (my own error) and although it couldn’t be undone, they went out of their way to accommodate us and work around my needs. Great service.
"Beautiful property, stunning area, very hospitable owners."
"A lovely cottage, very roomy - the entrance hall, lounge and bathrooms were particularly spacious - and generally well equipped."
A nice little welcome pack including a doggy beer and the owner called us on the first day to make sure all was OK. The lack of a garden would have been a pain with very young children and was a bit of an inconvenience with our young dog, although the proximity of fields to walk/toilet her on made it perfectly manageable. Could do with a clothes airer!
"This was our first time renting a cottage and our expectations were by far exceeded by this beautiful cottage."
The property was spotless, the rooms spacious and beautifully decorated, it was absolutely perfect for the three of us and our little dog. The owner Hayley very thoughtfully left a welcome basket and a few essentials in the kitchen. The cottage had an excellent parking area which is always a relief when you don't have to worry about parking. The location was ideal for either walking down into Buxton visiting the shopping areas, cafes, restaurants, or just a little further the Buxton pavilion. A short 10 min drive took us to Pooley Cavern to see the very interesting caves and take our dog around the extensive grounds and a 30 drive took us to Bakewell to the beautiful Chatsworth House (stately home) - well worth a visit, even if you only go to see the vast gardens and features. Overall this was a wonderful break for us and we hope to return there again soon.
"The Coach House was well appointed and has everything you would need being away from home."
The Coach House was well represented on the photos and was exactly as expected. It was very clean and the welcome basket was a welcome addition. It was a good base for visiting the Peak District.
"Very well presented holiday cottage."
Clean and tidy, decor very fresh, rooms comfortable, especially the master bedroom! Big entrance hallway which is very useful when you have a dog and a buggy, spacious lounge, and huge bathrooms. Nice that there were a few little bits in the kitchen upon arrival like tea coffee, soap, hand towel etc. Only downsides were limited space to sit and dine in the kitchen, and no shaver sockets in the bathrooms. Easy access to walk your dog in the morning / evening as well which was a bonus. Would recommend.
"Cottage beautiful, clean, only issues we had were that shower needed a soap dish and unfortunately the ceilings were high in the living room which gave 2 of our hard of hearing guests more of a problem with conversation."
"This cottage was immaculate."
It was very well equipped and comfortable. It was ideally located on the edge of Buxton with nice walks straight from the door. The owner was very helpful and provided a welcome pack with biscuits, milk, tea coffee and a bottle of wine and even a bottle of dogs beer for our border collie.Highly recommended.
"Good location as a base to explore the area."
Well equipped property with good facilities for a group. Nice decor and very welcoming.
"We had a wonderful time in Buxton lots of places to see and visit."
The cottage was amazing, we felt we had bit of luxury. Everything was thought out well, very clean and we had everything we needed. The guest book was brilliant gave us some nice ideas of what to do and see. All 4 of us had a lovely time, the only down side was the weather and unfortunately you can't book that. We would definitely recommend this cottage and hopefully come again sometime with better weather.
"The Coach House is amazing."
Spotlessly clean, fabulous big rooms, superior design and style. We loved it and the children (12 and 14) loved it too. The first holiday house we’ve ever been in that had more empty cupboards than we needed for us to put our food in, and the kitchen was superb all round. A perfect base for Buxton and the Peak District. Hayley was a wonderful host and we would love to go back sometime, Thanks.

About the location
Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.
It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
