  • "This is a very good property, and the space is great."

It was well-positioned in the centre of Buxton, easy to park two cars, and extremely comfortable except for one bedroom (hence losing one mark). The house is very well equipped. It was easy to park, and Morrisons is only a walk away. You could have a good holiday here without a car, as everything is so close. Of the three double bedrooms, one has the boiler in, with a sign to not switch it off. However, having the boiler on meant the room roasted, and was extremely difficult to sleep in. Also, the boiler timer ticked incessantly all night, and anyone switching a tap on made a very loud noise in the pipes in that room. You could also hear any noise in the room below from there. My son and his wife who were in the room did switch the boiler off so they could sleep, which meant we had no hot water to shower in the morning until he woke up and we could switch it on again. Inside the house was very clean. However, outside, the gate to the neighbour's back yard was broken and off its hinges (and we had a dog with us), and the passage between the two houses was scruffy, particularly compared to others in the row, with broken slates, etc. on the ground (hence one mark off for cleanliness). Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, which we felt was better than our expectations.

  • "Buxton was a great spot for our break and the house was very well situated, an easy walk into the town centre and to the large supermarket."

The welcome pack was superb and the provision of logs for the wood burner was greatly appreciated and saw us through the first 2-3 days. Lots of books, games and jigsaw puzzles was a nice touch too. The kitchen was a good size, with all key appliances and the first floor bathroom was very good. Living room chairs very comfortable and the dining table was a good size, plenty big enough for 6 people. The beds were all very comfortable, everyone slept well. We did have a small issue with the dishwasher, and the owners responded really quickly to get it sorted. The on-street parking was easier than we had feared, even when we had three cars there. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

  • "The owners were very attentive and had left a brilliant little Christmas gift and welcome pack."

The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of utensils. Not toddler proof but we managed (owners did supply a fire guard when asked, thank you) we brought our own high chair. I booked for a child should have booked for an infant so my error. The beds were comfy. Great location to explore Buxton and surrounding areas.

Great for the dog to have the park just round the corner. And there was an EV charger 10 minutes away too, so all went very well indeed. Thank you.

  • "Comfortable, homely and central, we had a fabulous time at No."

13 where we stayed to celebrate a special birthday. The games room was an added bonus prompting family tournaments in table football and darts. Sarah and Cath left a lovely welcome pack, even including treats for the dog. Street parking, although busy, was not a problem despite having three cars, we used the garage to accommodate a Ford KA with no issue. We would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone considering a visit to Buxton.

  • "This was a lovely cottage on a residential street, with just about enough room for on-road parking (and parking in front of the property's garage - always pays to read the welcome book!"

). Plenty of room (there were 3 of us, but 6 would fit in just fine), and the place was clean and tidy too. I got a very considerate text apologising that there had been some damage to the carpet caused by cleaners but we wouldn't have even noticed it otherwise. A well-stocked kitchen and lovely set of teas, coffees, chocolates on arrival, and something for our furry friend too! The only thing that was less than ideal was that the skylight in the loft room doesn't really seal properly so you can hear everything that's going on outside, but this was a minor quibble. Very nice property, and we'd recommend it!

  • "The house was very well equipped and comfortable and in a great location for pubs/shops/restaurants/takeaways, but we did have an issue with dirty carpets downstairs and when we tried to hoover so that our 8 month old granddaughter could crawl around, there was little to no suction on the hoover provided which resulted in my son in law stripping it down and washing all the appropriate parts, filter etc."

, before we could use it. The owners are aware of this as I contacted them myself and it would seem that builders who have recently done work at the house had used it and not emptied or cleaned it out afterwards.

Thank you for your feedback . We really appreciated you contacting us during your stay so that we could help whilst you were there. There is now a new hoover at the house and the carpets are being cleaned this week. We are glad you enjoyed your time in Buxton and found the house well equipped.. Thank you Cath and Sarah. • "Off street parking was not as described in listing and was not suitable for our car."

Neighbour very aggressive about on street parking. Check out altered only days before arrival, very early and staff arrived even earlier. Beautiful house in excellent location as long as steep stairs not a problem. Spotlessly clean and well appointed with good facilities and host very helpful.

We are really sorry you struggled with your parking. There is a garage but it is only suitable for smaller cars and other than that it is on road parking. It was Buxton festival whilst you were staying which I think will have made parking more challenging than usual. We have also spoken to our over enthusiastic cleaners to ensure they do not arrive as early again. I am glad the house was spotless and you enjoyed the house. Property Owner

  • "We had a great time staying at Victoria Park, you are literally 5 mins from Buxton Town centre."

We loved the Pavilion where there was an exhibition on & live music. Also visited Monsal Trail, Tramway museum & Chatsworth. Lots of parks and wildlife on the doorstep, I spied a squirrel on the tree from the lounge window! The house itself is in a very quiet area, we didn't hear any noise at all from neighbours! No issues parking outside either. We were very lucky with the warm sunny weather too on our visit. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend a coming here as it has everything you need for a great holiday.

Thank you for your feedback. We are really pleased you had a good stay. Thank you for the ideas of where to visit, Buxton has lots to offer. Thanks also for your suggestions in the visitors book we have sorted the gauntlets for the stove and will look into the other one. Thanks Cath and Sarah. Property Owner

Lovely place, immaculately clean and tidy, very spacious and would easily accommodate 2 families or a large group,, all great only slight critism is being such a big house with high ceilings it was slightly cold at night times and a little bit draughty downstairs but upstairs was fine and this was a very minor issue, the owners Cath and Sarah left a lovely welcome pack and answered any questions straight away via text, we would definitely recommend this place to anyone thinking of staying in Buxton as it's very nice and ideally located for the centre

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
