  • "Lovely cosi cottege next to market place."

Only problem was the front door which was difficult to open and toaster. Mentioned it to sykes the first day but nobody did something about it.

Otherwise a very nice well appointed cottage in a great location

  • "The cottage was beautifully presented and exceptionally clean and tidy."

The location was excellent. Our only issue was with the toilet seat which did not want to stay up. You’d lift the the seat, turn around and before you could sit it had fallen down again. Probably just needs a bit of adjustment. Also we both found it very hard using the sink in the bathroom due to the narrowness of the corridor. These are by no means complaints, purely observations and we appreciate the latter is unchangeable but good to know if your slightly less mobile. Overall we had a wonderful time staying in Kings Cottage. Thank you.

  • "Kings cottage was very well equipped and we had a very nice stay, however the main draw back was the lack of parking nearby."

The description said a 4min walk but for a 76 year old couple a walk up a steep hill to return to the cottage was not 4 mins. Also it was a quiet place and we were not 100% happy to leave the car there as overnight most cars went home.Car parking in Ashbourne is limited and can be expensive.

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th century, the town was a fashionable social centre and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by. Alton Towers is just 20 minutes away.
