  • “The key case would only open after turning & turning the dial repeatedly (say 5 complete turns), and the same with the front door - we had to call the owner but this could have been avoided by putting a bit more instruction on the welcome email?”

Otherwise, a beautiful house in a perfect location!

The property

Resting at the centre of the desirable market town of Ashbourne is this beautiful three-storey cottage, No 6.

Boasting a mix of contemporary style and historic character, No 6 offers easy access to the Peak District National Park, and is equipped with all you could need for a memorable stay in Derbyshire.

Park up in the two private parking spaces before stepping inside to the welcoming hallway, then making your way into the elegantly furnished lounge, take a seat on one of the plush sofas where you can kick back and relax, catch up on the latest entertainment on the Smart TV, listen to your music through the wonderful B&O speaker or browse the internet using the super-fast broadband.

Stepping up, you’ll find the split-level dining area and kitchen with generously sized dining table, the well-equipped kitchen offers all the gadgets and cookware you could need to prepare your favourite meals.

Also on the ground floor you can find a convenient cloakroom, whilst up on the first floor the two bedrooms offer ensuites - take your pick from a king-size with its ensuite having both a free standing bath, double basins and separate shower, or a zip/link king-size (which can be a twin on request) with a Smart TV and ensuite shower, each room flaunting luxury and plenty of space to house your belongings.

Moving up the stairs, pausing to gaze out of the picture window onto the old stables and courtyard below, continuing to the second floor you will find the two final king-size bedrooms, one with a Smart TV and sofa, and the other a zip/link to allow for flexible sleeping arrangements, both rooms served by the luxurious family bathroom where you can choose from a relaxing soak in the freestanding bath or walk-in shower.

Venture outside to find another treat in the form of two private gardens; a spacious courtyard equipped with a large table, chairs and parasol, making a lovely spot to dine alfresco in the summer months and steps leading up to a lawned area with decking and picnic tables where you can enjoy the stunning views over Ashbourne.

Outside in the courtyard stables you can also find a handy utility housing both the washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as your very own games room with a football table and table tennis, perfect for keeping the kids – of whatever age - entertained.

Explore the local area by foot, with a whole host of fantastic amenities being within walking distance of the property; stroll the cobbled streets of Ashbourne and browse a range of quirky shops before stopping for a bite at a café or a hearty restaurant meal.

There are plenty of cycle routes, scenic walks and nearby attractions such as Sudbury Hall, Carsington Water and the Tissington Trail, if exploration takes you further afield then take a trip to the Peak District National Park, providing you with more extensive landscapes to explore, along with museums, galleries and caves to discover, making it perfect for a day trip.

You can also visit Derby, a quintessentially English city with mainstream shopping facilities and award-winning restaurants, the market town of Uttoxeter for a day at the races, or the much-loved Alton Towers, ideal for those adrenaline seekers.

No 6 is a splendid holiday base, offering high quality accommodation for friends and family looking for a getaway together at any time of year.

About the location

Matlock 14 miles, Ticknall 24.7 miles, Bolsover 33.5 miles

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th century, the town was a fashionable social centre and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by. Alton Towers is just 20 minutes away.
