Great location, just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ashbourne and lots of amenities. Lovely outdoor area to sit and enjoy the view. We came on a walking holiday and found lots of useful information in the cottage about local routes and things to see. It was great to come back from a chilly walk and warm up in this cosy cottage. Would love to come back and stay.

Parking on the road - we never got that close to the house and found the road too busy just to drop the suitcase off, even at 9pm. It didn’t detract from our stay. The email info said .. selection of t bags - we arrived late and had forgotten to pack any, there was one t bag!

  • "The property was homely, well presented and very, very clean (trust me, I'm a Domestic!"

) The owners, Susan and Chris, were especially helpful in telling us where to park, what facilities were on site and where was good to eat / drink. We both felt very welcome; and the location was ideal, very close to town. The only issue we found - and this is absolutely no fault of the owners - was that there was a yappy dog in the house directly opposite us, which would bark constantly between the hours of 7 and 9 in the morning, as well as in the evening. Again, I must state this is absolutely no fault of the owners, but it was still quite annoying as we were both woken from our sleep on both mornings. Other than that, we have no complaints. The cottage was beautiful and we are very thankful for all the hospitality we received during our visit. Cheers, Susan and Chris. All the best.

  • "The property is well maintained and within walking distance to the centre of the town."

The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils for those who wish to cook. The bedroom is spacious enough for a king sized bed and the balcony is an added bonus. There is more than enough storage space for clothes with the chest of drawers and wardrobe situated on the landing. The bathroom is roomy and contains everything you would expect. All in all this is an ideal location to stay in order to explore the surrounding areas. The only negative is the availability of parking close to the property. The road is quite narrow in places making it impossible to park outside the property to drop of luggage on arrival. However parking is available from about 50 yards down the road. This does not means that this is something anyone should be concerned about.

Thank you so much for your great comments about the cottage. Like you, we always find a parking space further down the road when we stay. It is a prime location for the town centre and local eateries plus it’s conveniently placed for local attractions. Property Owner

The cottage had everything you need for a self catering holiday plus more. One of the best cottages we have stopped in. Excellent communication from the owners before we arrived with lots of information. No parking immediately outside but this wasn't a problem we just parked up the road. The cottage is ideally located for cycling or walking the Tissington Trail which starts just around the corner. The cottage is a 5 minute walk to town with plenty of shops for essentials plus pubs, a chippy, cafe and restaurants to choose from. Highly recommended.

Thank you for the very positive feedback on the cottage. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

The town of Ashbourne was really nice and quaint with nice small shops and for its size several Pubs that served meals. A bus trip to Buxton is a must for the journey takes you the long way round but it goes up in to the Peaks with great views, also a trip to Bakewell which was a very nice little town.

Nice views from the back windows over the hills and valley. Lots of little vintage bits and artwork to add interest, it feels loved and homely. Garden is lovely, a real bonus to use on a sunny day - sadly it rained all week so we never sat out! Kitchen is a little tight if like us you cook your own meals, could maybe do with a little table nearby as extra work surface? If you always eat out then it's fine. Ashbourne has lots of nice shops - antiques, jewellers and higher-end names, a real mix of choice and interesting architecture. Plenty of places to visit nearby. Enjoyed our stay.

The property

This charming late Georgian cottage is located in the friendly market town of Ashbourne, a conservation area.

A market place is a 5 minute walk away with with a gastropub, a variety of coffee shops, stalls, eccentric streets, cobbled alleys and coaching inns are just a few minutes’ walk away.

Designed with couples in mind, this cosy one bedroom retreat is homely and inviting, comprising an open-plan living area where you can relax endlessly throughout the day.

Whether you are dishing up meals in the modern kitchen, or settling down on the comfy sofas, Old End Cottage is a pleasant place to unwind and return to at the end of each adventure.

A drop leaf dining table rests nearby, the ideal spot to sit with a warm cup of tea in the morning, or, if entertaining is more your style, extend the table to join your loved ones in the evening.

From here you can also access the garden should you wish to stroll outside for some fresh air.

Upstairs, a lovely king-size bedroom promises a good night's sleep, a neutral arrangement with period chest of drawers and bedside tables.

There is also a balcony joined to the room, a little suntrap to be enjoyed as the sunrises and sets.

Lastly, a family bathroom finishes the property, designed in a modern fashion with a shower over the bath.

In its heyday of the 18th century, the town was a fashionable social centre and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period.

Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique lovers and “foodies”.

For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, Dovedale and the Peak district National Park, the Derbyshire Dales, and the Tissington Trail will ensure a memorable holiday for two.
