• "Cleanliness was first class."

  Everything was spotless. Attention to detail truly exceeded our expectations. For example the welcome pack. You can see the owners enjoy letting this out, by they the way they have maintained the cottage. It’s a credit to them. Only reason for a 4 in comfort. We are all use to it own bed and pillows, our issue not there’s. Everything else was top draw. Amazing.

• "Mike and Wendy have been brilliant."

  Mike came to our rescue when we were lost and still managed to get a roaring fire ready for us. The welcome hamper, especially the lovely tarts, was very much appreciated and saved an immediate trip to a convenience store. The cottage is immaculate, everything you need is there for you. The jacuzzi is warm and inviting on a winters day. I cannot recommend highly enough and hope to come back.

  The sun room was perfect for relaxing after sitting in the hot tub. The hosts were very helpful and informative and made us feel at home. We were given good directions to get to the property as sat nav would have definitely taken us to the wrong address. Would highly recommend this property and we'd love to return there again.

• "Lovely property which really suited 3 generations of family."

  Each room had their own TV which saved any arguments on what to watch! Everything had been thought of and the welcome basket was the best we ever had. The beds were so comfortable that for the first time away I actually slept like a baby. The hot tub was a bit hit for all. Location was perfect for a quiet get away. Would definitely stay again of up this way. Owners were helpful. Loved it all.

• "We have stayed in a number of cottages all across the peaks."

  This rates as one of the best. Mike welcomed us when we arrived and gave us a tour. It is clear that Mike and his good lady have left little to chance. The cottage is deceptively spacious. All of the rooms are a good size. I think it sleeps 5/6. Our friends had the double and we had the twin. We used the downstairs bathroom and were very impressed with the finish as well as the performance of the shower. The kitchen was easy to navigate and had plenty of cutlery etc. There was even a bluetooth speaker supplied for using outside with the hot tub, we made good use of both. As mike stated in his welcome email, do not expect your Satnav to get you to the location. My advice would be to call Mike when you think you're close. Some lovely pubs nearby too. We ate at the Crown and also the excellent Bowling Green Inn. Thoroughly recommended.

  A perfect stay. Very well equipped with everything you could want. Lovely peace and quiet and located well to explore the Peak District, the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, Bakewell and Buxton and of course Alton Towers. Loved the hot tub which was perfect to end a day exploring. We aim to go back in the near future.

• "We had a lovely stay."

  Four ladies of a certain age on our annual week of doing what we want with no one to both us. We loved it. Took a while to find. We couldn’t find the turn off the main road. A sign at the end of the drive would be useful. It all added to the fun tho as we laughed so much as we went up and down the road.

  The owners are very friendly and helpful, the hot tub very welcome, and the kitchen one of the best equipped we've ever had in a rental. Great walks from the door (allowing for rogue stiles and a mysterious lack of footpath signage!!). For the win, Denstone Farm Shop is a short drive away and stocks amazing food and drink. Easy to find, and down a long farm drive, so very quiet and sheltered from the outside world - heavenly!!

  It was spotlessly clean. There was everything you could possibly want. The hot tub was fabulous, perfect for star gazing. Perfect, rural setting, but close enough to Ashbourne if you wanted to go. We had taxis, which cost £10 each way. We ate at the Duncombe Arms, which was ok, but nothing to shout about. Ashbourne had a better choice of restaurants. Would definitely return. Thank you

  The cottage was spotless and had everything we could possibly need - the hot tub was a real bonus. The welcome basket was the best we’ve ever had, all useful stuff with a few little luxuries. Wendy and Mike were helpful and friendly, and always there if we needed them (we didn’t - we had no issues at all!). We would definitely recommend Orchard Cottage to anyone. Our kids are 4 and 8 and they loved it, especially waving to the cows in the neighbouring field on the way out every morning! Thanks again for a lovely stay.

  It is extremely comfortable and clean and well equipped. The garden is a sun trap and a lovely place to sit and eat on a warm day. The owners next door are friendly but unobtrusive. The welcome basket was the best we’ve ever had. We will certainly return.

  The owners Wendy & Mike met us on arrival & showed us everything we needed to know. A lovely couple who couldn't do enough for us.The cottage was immaculate & everything you could possibly need was there including a lovely welcome pack.The cottage was surrounded by beautiful countryside with lovely walks and a nice little pub a short drive away ( The Royal oak) food was amazing. We can not find anything negative to say about this lovely cottage it was an amazing week we spent at Orchard cottage we will be back!! Loved the hot tub too PERFECT. Best wishes Chris & Diane.

  Great location for spectacular scenery and plenty of things to do within driving distance for all ages. You will not be disappointed in anything at all. In fact if Sykes awarded holiday cottage of the year it would easily be presented to Orchard Cottage.

  Lovely, helpful couple living next door who gave us our privacy. Had a fun and relaxing break in this beautiful setting and surrounding area. Enjoyed watching the birds visit bird feeder outside kitchen window. Short drive away to Dovedale Stepping Stones which is an easy walk.

  We had a warm welcome from Mike and Wendy with a tour of the property, the wood burner lit, and a generous and luxurious welcome basket. The cottage is very clean, comfortable, and stylish but the little thoughtful extras make it extraordinary - things like first aid supplies, European electrical plug converter, conditioner in the dispensers... We made full use of the hot tub and generally had a marvellous time.

• "A beautifully finished cottage tucked away, well off the beaten track."

  The owners, Mike and Wendy, could not have been more helpful including cleaning our extremely muddy boots after the wettest, muddiest walk to Dovedale ever. The cottage was the perfect cosy place to come back to, light the fire, cook dinner in the extremely well appointed kitchen and jump into the hot tub to warm up! Everything had been thought of including a delicious welcome hamper, fuel and lighters for the fire, robes and slippers if required, towels for the hot tub in addition to bathroom towels, handsoaps/shampoo/conditioners and even a bluetooth speaker to use outside eating alfresco on warmer days or with the hot tub, which also had coloured lights to set the mood. We all had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back in hopefully drier weather.

  2 of us have stayed here before. The cottage is absolutely wonderful, very warm and cosy but with lots of space. The cottage and hot tub are spotless. The owners Mike and Wendy live next door and are very friendly but discreet. They have thought of everything in the cottage from the lovely bedding, robes, towels not only for the bathrooms but also the hot tub. The welcome pack was wonderful with tasty local produce and the log burner was lit for our arrival which was wonderful. Highly recommended and we will definitely return! Highly recommended is a visit to Chatsworth House and for good, hearty pub food the Roston Inn is fab! Many thanks xx

• "We had a very warm welcome from the owners who greeted us upon arrival."

  They showed us how to operate the hot tub, boiler and kitchen appliances as well as giving us advise with regard to when was a good time to visit places we had chosen to visit. The welcome pack far exceeded our expectations and was more than we have ever received before. The cottage is in a lovely quiet spot but is well situated for visiting local places of interest. It was comforting to know that when you returned to the cottage you could relax in the comfort of its facilities or in the most welcome hot tub. This being all inclusive in the price. The owners went out of their way to say goodbye to us at the end of our stay to ensure that we had been satisfied with the accommodation as they hadn't seen us during our stay. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and would have no reservations in returning again in the future.

  The owners were very welcoming and they left us a fantastic hamper, one of the best we've seen on our cottage holidays. The hot tub was an added bonus and we enjoyed sitting in it during the evenings, looking up at the stars. The accommodation was faultless and met our expectations. The location was brilliant, the Peak District on your doorstep and Alton Towers for our teenagers was nearby. A wonderful week away,we hope to go back.

When we got there we had been travelling several hours and thought we would have to go back out to get some food and drinks but then we saw the welcome basket which was absolutely amazing and had everything we needed. • "Orchard Cottage is a "hidden gem" in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside."

  We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Orchard Cottage for New Year 2019/20. The cottage is immaculate and the owners Mike and Wendy have thought of everything you could possibly need to make your stay a "Home from Home" experience, and the food & proseco hamper on arrival was a lovely touch. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard and free WiFi. The log burner was on most of our stay and plenty of fresh wood to burn. New Years Eve in the hot tub was perfect, champagne and lots of laughter plus the hosts were entertaining with friends and had some excellent fireworks at midnight. The countryside is fresh and welcoming with some great walks, local pubs were good and Ashbourne is only 4 miles away with plenty of shops, supermarkets etc so you can stock up on food. This has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break and a get away from the busy humdrum of life. We thoroughly recommend Orchard Cottage and look forward to booking another short stay soon.

  Hot tub well looked after with robes, towels and slippers supplied accordingly. Owners are warm and friendly and available if any assistance is required. Cottage is in a lovely area of parkland and there are lots of linking footpaths for long or short local walks. Also we enjoyed the off road loop walk to the local pub as well as cycling on the nearby Tissington Trail. Highly recommend!

• "Just returned from a 2 night break at Orchard Cottage through Sykes."

  It was fabulous, there were 5 girls, 4 travelled from Cardiff and one from Yorkshire, as soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by our hosts Mrs Wendy Greenhough and Mr Mike Greenhough. The log burner had been lit ahead of our arrival and the hot tub was on ready to get straight into. A lovely basket of essentials was prepared for us which contained eggs, biscuits, bread, wine and crisps, milk and butter were in the fridge and a lovely fruit bowl were also included. I would highly recommend staying here if you enjoy fresh air, walks and relaxing. We are already planning our next visit in 2019!!

  The cottage was very clean had everything you could wish for and more. The location was fabulous and the owners had thought of everything even a very good welcome pack including a bottle of wine. Will be going back.

• "The cottage had everything a family needs on holiday!"

  The children loved the hot tub, Wifi, smart T.Vs in their rooms and 2 bathrooms! The hubby and I liked watching the different birds out the window while we relaxed with a drink from the tassimo machine (added bonus). Owners left a fantastic welcome basket and we're very friendly on arrival they also gave us privacy all week even with their cottage being next door. The cottage was in a great location which allowed us to visit nearing Dovedale, ILam, Milldale (to enjoy walking), Matlock (Heights of Abraham), Crich Tram Village (Families favourite - went twice, once on our way home too), Beautiful Buxton, Bakewell and the Donnington Grand prix collection museum. Beautiful stay in Orchard Cottage would highly recommend.

• "We had a brilliant stay, it was a very well equipped, everything was thought about to the last detail even the kitchen was well stocked with kitchen foil, cling foil, food bags and bin bags etc, a hair dryer in the bedroom, shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom and even extra towels for the hot tub, you really don’t need to bring anything!"

  ! The welcome pack was such a lovely surprise too. It’s a lovely and spacious cottage, it’s very quite and set in the middle of nowhere just how we liked it, we will definitely return in the future and the owners Mike and Wendy were great hosts, couldn’t fault anything about our stay, loved every minute even watch the different type of birds that visit every day, we just didn’t want to come home!!

• "Fabulous cottage."

  One of the best we've stayed in. Owners were lovely. Very friendly & helpful. The cottage had everything we needed. Hot tub was very welcome after a day of biking & walking! Plenty of places to walk & bike if you didn't want to use the car. Ashbourne was about 3 miles away & that had 3 supermarkets just in case you needed to stock up. Would definitely recommend this cottage & we will be booking it again

  Absolutely spotless on arrrival, very spacious and comfortable and a very generous hamper laid out. We didn’t want for anything at all! Wonderful hot tub and layout. Our 3 year old enjoyed all the kids dvds on offer to watch. We will definitely be back!!

  The owners are very helpful and the cottage is beautifully kept. The hot tub is wonderful, especially in a light rain (the weather was very accomodating in supplying this while we were there). Would love to stay here again, and by the look of the website early booking is recommended as its fully booked for the next 5 months!

• "Wow, Wow, Wow."

  What an amazing cottage, probably the best we've ever stayed in. The place was immaculate and so well equipped, everything you could possibly want and more. Wendy and Mike were the friendliest, most welcoming helpful couple too, nothing was too much trouble. Our weekend visit coincided with snowy weather so the hot tub was fantastic, sitting, relaxing in there whilst the weather was freezing was just perfect. There was a beautiful welcome hamper to welcome us with luxuries and essentials which was fantastic. The cottage was super cosy too with central heating and a log burning fire, just was you wanted after a bracing walk. Derbyshire is a beautiful area, there's so much to do and so many wonderful walks so the cottage is ideally situated. Our 9 year old son came too and was delighted with the wi-fi and smart TV in the room, such a treat for him. We'll be back again later this year for a week this time as loved it so much.

  Very comfortable and modern with all the facilities you need including the relaxing hot tub particularly after a day spent walking. Mike and Wendy were very friendly and the addition of the welcome basket and other little extras was much appreciated. The location is great - most places are not far to travel by car and there is something to suit everyone, from stately homes to beautiful walks and scenery and for our teenagers Alton Towers being just over 10 minutes drive was a bonus. We would definitely return here and will be recommending to our friends as well.

  The owners welcomed us on arrival and explained everything to us. The presence of a hamper and fresh fruit was a nice touch. The position of the cottage in a nice quiet location helps to ensure a relaxing holiday. We were fortunate with the weather, but of course that cannot be guaranteed.
