The property

Rosie Cottage is a family-friendly Grade II listed terraced cottage nestled near the centre of Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

With the market town's amenities within easy reach, as well as the spectacular landscapes of the Peak District, the cottage welcomes a family of four and two well-behaved canine companions to explore a fabulous region of England.

Step inside the quirky green door of Rosie Cottage.

Rustic wooden beams as well as original cottage features and pretty furnishings await in the snug sitting room to curl up on the sofa and watch your favourite shows on the TV; why not grab a book from the generous bookshelf to read with the little ones or play an LP on the LP player?

Start the woodburning stove for added comfort and lay down a blanket for your dog, whilst the family chef whips up a culinary delight in the neighbouring kitchen/diner.

A gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge and ample cupboard space ensures an easy self-catering stay with a dining table for four, whilst the adjoining utility cupboard hosts a freezer and washing machine to keep your holiday attire fresh!

Spend sunny days dining alfresco in the rear, white-washed courtyard with a barbecue space for dogs to relax after long walks; a peaceful spot to savour your morning coffee and plan the day ahead, even on a rainy day thanks to the added shelter!

Freshen up in the handy ground-floor bathroom with a bath and shower over to soak tired muscles, before settling down for the evening.

Climb the winding stairs to find a king-size and a single with a trundle bed, both with plenty of storage space to keep your belongings, wooden latch doors and charming cottage-style furnishings.

Rosie Cottage is a short journey away from the centre of Ashbourne; take a break from the kitchen and dine at a nearby inn or stock up on the essentials at the local convenience store.

The classic market town is known as a haven for antique hunters, whilst the spacious Ashbourne Park is perfect for family picnics and pet-friendly to let your dog’s blow off some steam.

If you're seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle, follow a walking or cycling path to venture into the Peak District to discover historic human settlements and hidden caves; the scenic valley of Dovedale boasts a wooded ravine and idyllic vistas, whilst Carsington Water is a nearby picturesque reservoir offering water sports rentals with a visitors’ centre and restaurant.

Jump in the car and spend a day in Matlock where guests can ride vintage steam trains through picture-perfect landscapes on the Peak Rail or visit the family-friendly Gulliver's Kingdom for plenty of rides on offer.

Alton Towers is also a short drive south west from Rosie Cottage where thrill-seekers can enjoy an abundance of popular roller coasters alongside attractions for younger guests!

Budding historians will relish a trip to the historic market town of Bolsover, home to the intricate, fairy-tale castle of Bolsover and an antique centre, as well as surrounding nature reserves, including Peter Fidler and Carr Vale.

Choose Rosie Cottage for your next family holiday for the best of bustling market towns and unspoilt countryside.

About the location

Matlock 14 miles, Ticknall 24.7 miles, Bolsover 33.5 miles

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th century, the town was a fashionable social centre and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by. Alton Towers is just 20 minutes away.
