  • "Such a cosy gorgeously decorated cottage."

Sad to leave. Beautiful area for walking. Ashford in the Water is a quiet, quintessential English village, with 2 good pubs. Bobbin Cottage, was a perfect place to stay to be in the heart of the Peak District.

  • "The cottage was beautiful and catered for all our needs and more."

The location was beautiful and recommend the Ashford Arms for stunning food. There were 3 adults and we all had an amazing time. The small garden at the back was ideal for our small dog and the summer house just added another angle. Would certainly go back to Bobbin Cottage.

  • "Bobbin Cottage is a beautifully renovated old building."

There is everything there you need for a break in the Peak District for up to 3 people. I personally found the stairs hard work (arthritis) and missed being able to park right outside. Younger, fitter people would have no problems there.

Many thanks for your feedback Philip. We're always keen to improve things based on our guests' feedback. Unfortunately the stairs isn't something we can do much about but I hope they didn't cause too much pain. Fennel Street usually has somewhere to park that is within 10 - 50 yards of the front door and has a car park just around the back by the park if all else fails and that's only 50 yards around the corner too. I hope you didn't have to park too far away. Best wishes. Tim Property Owner

  • "Bobbin cottage was a very cosy, comfortable and immaculately maintained home."

All the facilities required, towels, tea, coffee, biscuits too. The shower was lovely and the heating in the cottage very efficient. The accommodation is ideally situated for exploring Bakewell and the surrounding trails. Lovely pubs nearby too. The Anchor up at Tideswell was particularly nice and the local Bulls Head serves good food in a very friendly environment. The cottage is pet friendly and we managed to obey the rules but I would say I'm not sure how it is completely possible to stop a dog going up the stairs! Doors to bedrooms can be kept shut but anyone with an over active dog could spend much time trying to stop their four legged friend from venturing into forbidden territory. Of course responsible dog owners should clean the dog up before entering the premises and perhaps a big throw for a seat would mean a comfy chair could be had too without the dog ruining the furniture. We are house proud and understand the issues but if accommodation is dog friendly the rules could be less restrictive and rely on the resident to use their common sense (perhaps therein lies the problem!!). Great stay and would return.

We had everything we needed in the cottage and it was a perfect base for exploring the beautiful Peak District - the furthest we travelled was 30 minutes away to Ilam and Dovedale. We would definitely like to return to this cottage.

  • "We had a lovely time staying at Bobbin Cottage."

The location was amazing with walks to Bakewell and the Monsal Trail at your doorstep and very central for anywhere else you wish to go. The cottage was lovely, very clean and check in/out was very smooth. The only query we had was the recycling rubbish had been left in the back garden, with bin day the previous day of our arrival, but this was collected promptly by the property manager, resolving the issue very easily. The facilities within the cottage were very good, even providing oil/salt & pepper, wood & fire lighters etc, perfect for self-catering! The only thing we didn't have was hand towels/tea towels which would have been useful. We had a lovely time here, and would definitely recommend.

The direct contact with us was much appreciated and makes the stay more personable Thoughtfully decorated idyllic property in a fantastic location Very quiet and respectful area in which to live and stay Well equipped spotless cottage Additions that would be helpful for guests would be a washing up sponge or J cloth that can be disposed of at end of stay My wife brought her own hairdryer. Could not see one in the cottage which could be a useful addition. Thank you for a perfect few days away

So glad you and your wife enjoyed your stay Richard and many thanks for some great tips on how we can improve the service. Property Owner

Plenty of walks from the front door and a pub for evening meals just round the corner. Plus easy and frequent buses to Bakewell and Buxton. Next time I will remember to take a bottle for some free Buxton water. What more could we want in the Peak DIstrict. Thank you Tim, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bobbin Cottage. Lesley & Richard

Bakewell 2 miles.

The picture-postcard village of Ashford-in-the-Water nestles on the banks of the River Wye, just two miles from Bakewell, at the heart of the Peak District National Park. This historic village, once famous for its marble, consists of 18th century stone cottages, two lovely pubs, an exquisite restaurant and a superb village store, renowned for its quality produce. The medieval Sheepwash Bridge, overhung by whispering willow trees, was once a major crossing point over the Wye for packhorses delivering malt from Derby and is flanked by a former sheep washing pen. Ashford Cricket Ground is a perfect spot to spend an afternoon supporting the local team, whilst Ashford 'Orchard' provides an ideal children's play area. The nearby, renowned market town of Bakewell offers a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, together with frequent local farmers' markets. Visit the many stately homes, including Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, or explore the rugged Dark Peak and softer limestone White Peak, all within easy reach.
