  • "Lovely, comfortable, warm house."

Particularly liked the comfortable bedding and plenty of towels. Well equipped kitchen, great cooker and utensils. Very well accessorised house with nice artwork and pottery Would have liked some more comfortable garden furniture in the top garden, as it was lovely to sit out.

  • "We had a lovely week in Bakewell and Highfield House was nothing short of perfect."

It was perfectly placed for a 5 minute walk to the town centre (down & up a hill but the exercise did us good!), which was busy but delightful. The house had everything! It is beautifully, tastefully, thoughtfully decorated and had a lovely homely feel. The bedrooms were lovely, each with their own character. Two bath/shower rooms which worked well for the 4 of us with big fluffy towels provided. The dining kitchen was immaculate and equipped with everything we could have needed, enabling us to cook our own meals without stress. We could sit and chat in there whilst we took turns to cook. Whilst the weather was a bit changeable, we did have a couple of lovely afternoons relaxing in the pretty garden, drinking our wine and overlooking the town! My car was too wide to park on the little drive, but I parked without issue in front of the house. Altogether a really lovely house and holiday - thank you very much and I can highly recommend Highfield House and would love to return one day!

We were made to feel welcome by his texts and the generous welcome package. The house is decorated in a warm and quirky way and the garden is a delight. Such views from up on the top level!! It's in a great position to explore Bakewell and the surrounding beautiful countryside.

Thank you I am so pleased that you had such a good time in the house. You caught the garden at its best and I agree with you about the views. It is a real pleasure to receive such positive feedback. Thank you again. Property Owner

  • "This property is a real gem!"

From the moment you arrive to find it lit and warm (in February) it feels like a home from home. A lovely handwritten card and welcome pack, a really well equipped kitchen - which even had fresh coffee, tea and milk in the fridge - together with comfortable sofas and beds shows the owners really want to offer the best service. There are even cute dog bowls and blankets provided too for those travelling with four legged friends. This house has bags of character. I had to contact the owner at one point and they were so pleasant and helpful and their pre arrival info and texts were also great. The house is in a great location for the town and to explore the area. There’s a nice enclosed patio and the garden has great views. All in all I would highly recommend Highfield House to anyone visiting the Peak District.

It was a real pleasure to read your feedback, thank you so much. It can be difficult to know if we are doing everything right, so receiving this message has reassured us that the house offers our guests comfort and enables them to relax and enjoy their stay, as we intend. • "We were a mixed group of 6 with ages from 10 to 79years and everyone had a fabulous time."

Jane and Steven were so fantastic from the call a week before we arrived to check how we wanted the beds made up, to providing walking suggestions that worked for the older legs whilst holding the younger generations interest, to our very lovely welcome tray with milk in the fridge on arrival. Highfield was a lovely, comfortable property with lots of room for all 6 of us to spread out or o spend time together. The garden was quirky and great to spend time in throughout the day with the different areas providing shade or sun or peace and quiet with amazing views. Bakewell is a lovely village and a great base for exploring the Peak District from.

  • "Ideal location."

Very nicely decorated. We only stayed 2 nights but this would be an ideal base for a longer stay. Short walk to central Bakewell and well placed for surrounding area. The drive to the side is narrow (as described) but managed one car on drive and one on the road in front of the house.

  • "For some time I let my flat on AirBnB and prided myself on getting great reviews."

I did this by providing quality furnishings and furniture, cleanliness and providing all the things I would like to have myself during my stay. I had never found anyone in the hospitality business who provided that same level of care as I did during my stay in this house. The house was impeccable. The decoration was charming and appropriate for the style of the house. The sheets and towels were soft, the duvet and pillows were good quality and incredibly comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with everything and more. The service was also excellent and Jane was incredibly attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable house after a long day trekking. I could carry on saying wonderful things about this place but I think you get the picture. The only thing I would recommend is to get sofas that seat more people for the drawing room.
