  • "Stonecroft is the perfect location for visiting Bakewell."

It is a home from home with excellent facilities. The beds were very comfortable with the best pillows! All rooms were spacious, homely and comfortable. The cottage was well-maintained and very clean. We would highly recommend Stonecroft Cottage and hope to visit again in the future.

Beautifully styled and finished, everything you could want for a stay. Very comfortable beds, linen, hot water and plenty of space. Close to all amenities but quiet too. Couldn't find any fault with it.

  • "This was our second visit to Stonecroft Cottage and we all thoroughly enjoyed it again."

Very much home from home and so close to the town. The stairs are quite steep so thank goodness for the downstairs bedroom, my elder sister struggles now. We had no problems whatsoever, and hopefully will visit again.

Although on a road, there was no road noise inside the house. Some of our party in the upstairs bedrooms found it too warm at night. Overall a wonderful place to stay and place to visit.

Very well equipped kitchen, lovely comfy living room with log burner. Beds were all very comfortable too. Parking does fit three cars with a bit of Tetris style jiggery poker! Only negatives, showers are a little under powered and heating was difficult to increase when house was cold in the afternoon and we had already used the wood. No details of where we could purchase more. But overall a great house.

The beds were all really comfortable, all the bedrooms are a really good size. We had a 14 week old in a crib and toddler in a cot and still had plenty of space in our bedroom. My dad has very restricted mobility and he was able to be with us due to having the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. We will definitely go back to this gem of a property. We have had a great stay.

It is in central Bakewell within easy access of all sorts of attractions to appeal to all ages, caters for a pet dog too, has easy parking, a lovely secluded patio, and inside everything is exactly as promised in the information on-line, plus more. We all loved our stay, and will definitely intend to return!

  • "Bakewell proved to be a wonderful place to stay."

Lovely walks, plenty of places to eat and drink. Stonecroft is lovely and well equipped. It was lovely to find the kitchen had plenty of utensils, crockery etc There were 5 of us staying, not sure how 10 would work with the seating available in the lounge. We received an email a week before our holiday stating no dogs on the furniture and to exclude them from carpeted areas, a stair gate or similar would help visitors adhere to this request, we used a clothes airer to block the stairs, which was not terribly convenient when going up and down! A minor point as we had a lovely stay.

  • "Stonecroft is an excellently appointed cottage and the equipment, beds etc were splendid."

The only gripe is the fact that the very low door heights upstairs were not mentioned on the Sykes website. The first we knew about them was in the Welcome Pack at the cottage. Had this information been available sooner then we would probably not have booked the cottage preventing the 6ft 2in member of our party sustaining several headaches.

Very well equipped and furnished. Warm and comfortable. One of our party is elderly with limited mobility and found it impossible to manage the stairs to upper floor but was very happy with ground floor bedroom and shower room. Steps down from rear entrance also tricky for her as no handrail. May be helpful to alert future customers to these accessibility issues. Also in upper double bedroom with balcony there is a rug which is a trip hazard with two turned up corners

It was great to be so central in the town, as well as the rest of the Peak District. The house was clean and the decoration and furniture to a high standard. Lots of storage for clothing etc. The kitchen was fully equipped and the extra touches of wine and biscuits, teabags was thoughtful. We had lovely weather so were able to spend time in the court yard, this was secure for dogs. A parasol would have come in useful though. The house is not on a main road, so mostly quiet at night. It was great to have off road parking in the town. The house was a fab base for our small group and we would stay again if back in Bakewell. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Dear Adele, Thank you for your feedback, its much appreciated, and we are super pleased that you enjoyed staying at Stonecroft. I can only apologise for the stove, however we have been waiting for spare parts to arrive and due to the continued delay, have actually now simply opted to replace the range cooker with a brand new one. Our only criticism would be that the hob needs servicing as only three burners work but as we didn’t do a great deal of cooking it wasn’t a great inconvenience to us but slightly frustrating. We had a fantastic week and love this gorgeous house

Dear Susan, thank you for your very kind review. With regards the cooker and hob I can only apologise for any inconvenience. We had the hob fully cleaned and serviced recently but are trying to source spare parts. However given the time delay, we have actually now decided to simply replace the entire range with a brand new one which will be fitted on the 15th December. The property

Resting in the historic market town of Bakewell, set in the Peak District National Park, is this superb stone-built house, Stonecroft.

Sleeping up to ten guests, Stonecroft is an idyllic and traditional setting for a family or friends gathering to explore all the Peak District has to offer.

Arriving at the property, three convenient off-road parking spaces greet you, before unloading your bags and stepping down into the stone flagged entrance hall to discard any coats and shoes after a long journey.

Look forward to relaxing in the spacious sitting room, with its impressive heavy oak beamed ceiling, where you can enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching your favourite TV in front of the woodburning stove set within a feature Derbyshire gritstone fireplace with stone hearth.

Put your culinary skills to the test in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, preparing tasty meals for your guests on the integrated Rangemaster, to be enjoyed around the large dining table as you toast to a wonderful holiday under the feature high vaulted ceiling with exposed oak beams.

Moving through the property, you will find a handy utility room with an extra fridge/freezer and washing machine, so there will be no piles of clothes needing a wash once you return home!

When sleep calls, you have the option to retire to five generous bedrooms, the first being a king-size, which benefits from the ground-floors underfloor heating.

Completing the ground-floor is the shower room, where you can enjoy a revitalising shower before heading out for a day of exploring.

Climb the stairs to the small split-level landing area, where you will discover four additional bedrooms; a king-size with balcony where you can enjoy views over the town, a king-size and 2 twin rooms, all beautifully decorated and with plenty of storage for your belongings.

Freshen up for the evening in the first-floor shower room, before heading downstairs to enjoy drinks and board games with your guests.

Sip your morning coffee in the delightful rear courtyard as you watch the world go by and your canine companion sleeps at your feet.

Set out to explore your local surroundings, starting with your base of Bakewell, where you will find a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as farmers markets where you can purchase fresh and local produce to prepare dinner for your guests at Stonecroft.

Stop for a sweet treat in The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, where you can enjoy the famous dessert in its namesake or a scrumptious cream tea.

For those history buffs, take a trip to the impressive 15th-century All Saints Church, which houses tombs and ancient relics, or visit The Old House, a heritage museum filled with historical artefacts and exhibits from Henry VIII’s reign, beautifully set in a Tudor House.

Take a romantic stroll over Bakewell Bridge, with its historic arches and glorious views over the River Wye.

Take the short drive to Chatsworth, home to the magnificent stately home of Chatsworth House and its expansive gardens.

You can take a tour of the lavish house and soak up the art collections and interiors, or opt for a walk around the formal gardens which house the Chatsworth House Labyrinth, Flora’s Temple, the Emperor Fountain and the Chatsworth Farmyard & Adventure Playground, making it a perfect day out with all the family.

Venture to the splendid town of Matlock, where you can step back in time with a ride on a vintage steam or diesel train on the disused Peak Rail track, conquer the climb to the Pic Tor War Memorial, which offers panoramic views over the town and beyond, or enjoy a picnic in the lush Hall Leys Park.

For those looking to venture a little further, Buxton should be your next stop, where you can explore the depths of the famous Poole’s Cavern, walk along Dukes Drive Viaduct or soak up the culture at Buxton Art Gallery & Museum.

However, you spend your time in the Peak District, choose Stonecroft for an unforgettable trip with loved ones.
