Everything was very clean so we felt very comfortable entering it especially due to the Covid 19 situation. A great spot to enjoy the local area whether it be for walking, cycling, touring or just relaxing. Owners are extremely friendly and welcoming and their shop next door is well supplied. "The cottage is well located and it is an advantage being adjacent to the village store which is well stocked."
It is small but cosy and the living area comfortable. For four, it is quite tight in the kitchen and it would have been helpful to have had a dishwasher, though I can see that space for one is an issue. The stairs are very steep - but this is mentioned in your description. A cottage full of charm and character and we loved the location.

"The cottage was straightforward to find, and a good base for exploring Derbyshire being relatively close to all main roads."
The cottage is linked to the village shop and post office (same owners), so during extended daytime hours there is always a helping hand nearby if required. We were given a tour of the cottage and how to light the gas stove, etc, on arrival. Also a welcome pack of bread, milk and wine which was appreciated. The cottage was plenty big enough for two adults and two children. The cottage is clean and well equipped, bedding was very comfortable, shower and bath were great, plenty of hot water. We didn't find the on-road parking an issue at all. There are a number of eateries (pubs/hotel/pizzeria) within a 10 minute walk, plus a Co-op in addition to the village shop/post office. We would recommend this property and would be happy to book again.

"Positives: very comfortable mattresses."
Generally very clean and tidy. Very well situated.
However: no soap in bathroom on arrival which was not very welcoming. We left a bottle for the next family! The temperatures on the knobs on the cooker had all warn off which made it very difficult to cook meals and the shower mat was utterly filthy. Stairs were very steep and steps narrow. Large enough for two people but any more would be cramped. I would not return to this property but had an enjoyable holiday. Chatsworth Farm shop should be visited early in a holiday particularly if you want to spoil yourselves. The food they sell is delicious.

"We had a lovely stay at Clematis Cottage."
The cottage had everything we could need and was perfectly located for the activities we wanted to do while we were there. We were greeted with a pack of tea cakes and a bottle of wine, which is a lovely touch and very welcome! The cottage is situated right next to the village shop and is owned by the family who run it, so there is always help if needed and is perfect for supplies if wanted.
We ate at Rowley’s, Fischer’s Baslow Hall (a treat for our anniversary) and Il Lupino Ristorante, all of them are spitting distance from the cottage and highly recommended. The Lavendar Tea Rooms in Bakewell is a particular favourite that we’ve been to on previous visits.
For those that like to stay in, there are DVDs and books galore (although we noted that a lot of freeview channels were not available). WiFi is good (the details are not in the welcome pack but are on the WiFi box itself). Reception is a little hit and miss upstairs but this is an old cottage so it did not bother us.
The shower is not as good as the cottage details suggest. It was basic and satisfactory. There is a lovely roll top bath as well.
The cottage is near a school but we were lucky with the parking as we were there during half term but I imagine it’s a little challenging if you try and park in the early morning or afternoon during term time. However this just requires a little bit of planning around, and common sense) and it would be absolutely fine.
We would definitely return to Clematis Cottage and look forward to doing so in the New Year.

Owners very welcoming and availabile (in shop next door) but totally non-intrusive.
Great location with walks from house and good eating options on foot.
Stairs challenging for mobility-impaired (can’t remember if this was flagged but if not, would be worth doing so). New bedding would improve comfort and update ‘feel’ a little.
