and two baby grandchilden, plus dog. Hawkfield was perfect for our pre-Christmas family get together. It's in a great location for local shops, walking to Chatsworth, and walks to Baslow Edge. The house was warm and cosy with good facilities for the babies aged 5 months and 7 months. We had a relaxing stay and recommend the house without reservation.

The cottage is set back from the road on a quiet street and has beautiful gardens and outside seating. The kitchen is really well equipped, the bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable and the bath and shower are exceptional. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival and the owners were in touch a couple of times to make sure everything was okay. We will definitely be back.

We were so lucky to get the booking last minute but because of lockdown we didnt get to sample many of the local restaurants and pubs. Fantastic walks to every direction. The garden was a dream and we spent lovely moments in the evening sun sipping a cup of tea. Our dog Pepe loved the gas fire in the dining room and kept sitting in front of it begging me to turn it on. Absolute heaven and we can not wait to come back again. Many thanks to our lovely hosts.

It is like a home away from home for adults and children. We love the decor, the wood stove in the front room for those cold half term evening/nights and all the different birds that visit the garden. There is so much to see and do around the area, the children always love Chatsworth and the wonderful play park at the bottom of Baslow.

Disappointed that there were no fans as it got very warm upstairs. Downstairs felt dirty but upstairs was clean and modern. Outside was fine except for the path around the house which had broken or loose paving stones which were a hazard. We had a problem with a door lock when we were there and was very happy with the quick response and resolution from the owners. Overall the house is in a nice setting, though parking for two cars is very tight , and with some TLC could be an excellent house

Very clean and well equiped. Great location, near enough to all the village amenities, while being very quiet and close to great footpaths to walk up to Baslow Edge or Chatsworth. Beds extremely comfortable and the cottage feels really homely. Bike storage which we really appreciated. Garden not completely dog proof but lots of walks straight from the door so it didn't really matter.

Beds and pillows particularly comfortable. Owners left lovely welcome pack, including wine and local beer and card and ensured house was toasty warm before we arrived. They went out of their way to provide us with details of a taxi service we required. Only one small suggestion for the more senior citizen - a handrail on the upper part of the staircase would be advantageous. We will try to book again when we can. Melanie and Jack Free. About the location

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
