Lounge suite rather awkward for getting up from. But other wise everything fine.

  • "We felt the location of this sweet little cottage was perfect - a few minutes away from both dog walking areas and the town centre."

The 2 main reasons for booking this property was that it was detached (less noises to frighten our rescue dog) and superb enclosed garden. We had our most relaxing holiday since adopting our dog, for which we are very grateful. I can’t recommend Blacking Mill cottage enough and will be telling all family and friends about it.

  • "Blacking Mill is spotlessly clean, everything you need for a lovely holiday is provided and is very comfortable."

The garden is dog proof, kept our two medium sized lurchers safe and secure. We could relax without the fear they could escape. We can highly recommend this characterful cottage. The Nature Reserve just over the road was lovely for close to home dog walks. Off road parking is also a bonus. All in all a perfect holiday cottage.

  • "Really great cottage!"

Very clean. Great location close to the centre of Belper. It also has a decent sized enclosed garden which is perfect for doggos, and outdoor furniture to help us socialise safely within the restrictions. The hosts left us a few bits to get us started including coffee and oat milk, which was a lifesaver after a long drive. Thank you for having us!

not the only shortfall was no washing machine which was not a problem because the weather was kind but it may have been a little more difficult if the weather had been not so good. the other small detail was their not a toaster. but having said that we had a very enjoyable stay and would reccomend it.

Lovely places to walk nearby and in a good location to visit the nearby towns and attractions. The Devonshire pub is great and dog friendly, they do a delicious roast dinner! The cottage had everything you need and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Thank you!

  • "Comfortable but small house set in a lovely part of the country."

The private parking space in front of the house is a game changer because without it you couldn’t stay at the house. We enjoyed our stay but I think it was expensive for what it is but I guess that’s for the high season.

  • "Beautiful cottage with all you could wish for."

Two gorgeous comfy bedrooms, central heating and a lovely log burner (with a starter pack of logs/fuel to get you going). Fully fitted kitchen with all you need (and if you do need anything there's Morrison's, Aldi, Co-op minutes away). There are a lot of quirky individual shops in Belper which are worth investigating. Broadband with smart TV with Netflix/BBC Iplayer and more. Iron + ironing board - no washing machine (no big deal, but useful to know) Well located for Derbyshire with loads of places to visit. Lovely secluded garden which is great for those with dogs and it's just across the road from Belper gardens which is perfect for exercising dogs. Belper market square is less than 10 minutes walk through there - take a torch though, it gets dark! We didn't get the best of the weather on our visit, but the garden in better times would be a real suntrap, with lovely patio and table. We had a lovely meal at The Devonshire on the other side of town (20 minutes walk) fully dog friendly and great food. We'd go along with most of the comments in the visitor's book - we want to move in!

The moment you step through the green garden gate you are transported to the countryside with a lovely enclosed garden and a wonderful period cottage. The view from the lounge and the kitchen window is beautiful and the real endorsement is that you wish you could live here. • "This cottage was everything we wanted - the pictures don't do it justice."

The garden is like a secret garden, away from the rest of the world. The owners were unobtrusive and kindly left a welcome basket which was very much appreciated! There is a Morrisons and other shops within a 5 minute drive, which makes it convenient, and although situated in a town it still has the feel of a cozy country cottage. We took our two pugs and there are walks from the cottage (over the road at Belper Parks) which they loved. It is also in a great location for exploring the Peak District, 30 mins from Chatsworth House and 20 minutes from the Heights of Abraham. We really fell in love with the cottage and would love to live here ourselves. We will definitely be returning.
