  • "Couldn't get the sauna to turn, not sure if this was our general technical incompetence or if it is out of action due to Covid?"

  • "Living area very dark and needed a proper light for reading/sewing."

Chipped mugs. Dirty oven gloves (not dealt with as requested - we didn't want to touch them). Gas oven control dodgy and grill didn't get hot enough. 2 gas lighters, one not working. Bed comfortable but pillows not. Bathroom needed a freestanding towel rail as nowhere other than small radiator to hang them. Our toothbrush charger leads to short to use the shaving plug but plenty of room for a shelf. A feeling that the basics were there just not the quality.

  • "It was a great cottage, it had enough space for us all."

It was a really short walk to Belper and the train station with regular trains to Matlock. The garden was safe for the dog. Parking was easy with plenty of space on the street outside.

  • "The bedroom on the first floor lacked a mirror."

A chair would also have been useful A small coffee table in the lounge would be useful to put any drinks on. We forgot to leave a review in the visitors book. We all had a most enjoyable holiday with fantastic weather. Very good communication with Simon regarding arrival times etc. We would certainly book again.

Could do with a little TLC here and there but otherwise a good place to chill and relax

Took our elderly dog, who was lucky enough to have an enclosed back garden where he could lay in the sun.

  • "Very well equipped cottage that has everything there, shame the bbq was very unsteady and dirty so not fit for use."

.. also the front door key lock is hard to use, we did get the hang of it towards the end of the week but sometimes all 3 of us would have a go to try and get in! Great sights out of the upstairs windows... and local facilities are great too!

Suitable for 2 adults for a little get away . Very clean , comfortable bed . In need of a coffee table and a blind for the skylight window but other than that it is a lovely cottage . Belper town is worth a visit but drive if you have mobility issues .

  • "Clean, basic cottage."

Well equipped kitchen. Ideal for 2 adults. Location was a good general base to explore the area. Walking books and guides to the Peak District would have been useful as we had to purchase our own. Also bathrobes to access the sauna in the rain. We recommend walks in Dovedale and ilam and Kinder Scout. Also Haddon Hall, Chatsworth and Blue John caves.

Beautiful little cottage. Happened to be there on the hottest August bank holiday on record. The attic bedroom was indeed very hot and uncomfortable due to the heatwave.

  • "Great time was enjoyed by all at Mill Cottage, it’s very traditional but the owners have done a great job of bringing it up to 21st century comforts."

Sauna was a hit including the pretty garden. When we arrived it was extremely wet so the wood burner came in handy. It’s up the hill out of town which is a great walk down but strenuous back up for those I imagine who struggle with mobility. I’ve book it again. A rug in front of the fire would add to the comfort especially in winter.

..so clean, comfy and everything was there that we needed. Such a lovely quaint place and the local pub across the road was very welcoming. The area and locals was perfect, very quiet and always space to park. The beds were so comfy, Netflix on the tv’s and excellent WiFi. Would definitely go back again...5 star!

  • "The cottage is well situated and there is plenty of on street parking."

The kitchen was very well equipped and when the need arose for a cheese grater, there it was in all its glory. The garden was neat and dog friendly, in fact our pooch loved the outside steps so much he played 'drop the ball' down them constantly. I loved the attic bedroom and could easily have shed a tear on Friday morning when it was time to leave. Belper itself is a lovely place to visit, the locals were all very warm and welcoming. The walk to the River Derwent of an evening is very pleasant and the whole area is very clean and tidy.

  • "Lovely clean cottage well equipped and fantastic views."

Good bedding and towels. Stairs were an issue for us and they were everywhere in the cottage, extremely steep and no handrails. We are all tall and so the low ceilings, beams etc weren't great for us. The bedroom on the top floor is like a mezzanine with sound travelling through gaps where floorboards do not reach the wall and no door as such, so not very private. Velux window needs a blind as way too light. Lovely roomy bathroom and enjoyed courtyard garden. Easy walking distance into Belper which is a lovely little town.

It is a beautiful cottage, with all amenities, and the cottage is really clean. There is a lovely back garden, which is enclosed and private. The beds are comfortable, and the bedrooms are nicely decorated. You are only a couple of minutes drive to Belper Town. We would definitely recommend.
