  • "Rose cottage was a lovely, clean, comfortable home from home, rather than just a base to lay your head."

    It is euipped with everything you could possibly need and some nice personal touches from our hosts Vicki and Nick The shared garden is beautiful, with stunning views of the country side and the Arctic Lodge is highly recommended. There is lots to see and do in the surrounding area.

  • "The cottage was decorated to perfection."

    The fixtures and fittings were of very high quality and the owner was most obliging but not intrusive. We just happened to say that the hoover was not picking up very well and the next day, we had a brand new one delivered to our door. We have several cottage holidays every year and this one is now top of our list.

  • "This was a beautiful and well maintained cottage."

    The cottage was of a high spec and had everything you could need and more! Lovely welcome bubbles on arrival and a starter pack of tea, coffee and biscuits, which was a lovely touch. Owners very friendly greeted us on arrival to show us how things work and said goodbye on us leaving to check we had a good time. Would definitely recommend the local pub (Black Boy) extremely friendly and welcoming and food is amazing. We hope to stay again and would highly recommend anyone wishing to stay in a good location for the Peak District.

    Extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean with everything we needed for a relaxing week. The position is very quiet and peaceful. Not quite warm enough in October to allow use of the bifold doors which would be lovely in summer I'm sure. Buses run hourly into the evening which enabled us to sample restaurants in nearby Belper as well as the local pub. We would be very happy to return.

    The cottage was spotless, had everything that you would need and more. A wonderful pre arrival email with clear information and a lovely friendly welcome on arrival. Whilst Nick and Vicki are on site, there is zero intrusion of privacy. Top of the range electronics, appliances and furnishings, an amazing shower and bath, super comfortable bed. Every little thing to make the place a home from home was provided. First class accomodation that we will have no hesitation to return to.

    It was clean and well looked after. The owners ensured we had everything we needed. The location was ideal for visiting all the local sights. Bus stop into Belper or Ripley only 50 yards away which ran hourly throughout the day and evening until late. Connections to other places including Matlock Bakewell and Derby in Belper. An excellent welcoming pub 100 yards away serving good quality food. Thoroughly recommend this quiet and exceptional location.

    Tucked away in the owners garden it is in a peaceful location yet there is a lovely pub serving excellent food literally 5 minutes walk away. This cottage could also be accessed without a car as there is a bus stop right outside the owners house. We used the bus to go to Matlock via Belper. The interior is furnished to the highest standard the downside of this is I am now being nagged to upgrade my home!! I would definitely stay again.

    It is modern, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. I would say it is definitely the best holiday property we have stayed in and a lot better than some hotels. There were little touches which made us feel very welcome and more than just paying guests. The hosts were thoughtful but unobtrusive, we were warmly welcomed by Nick soon after our arrival. I received an email from Vicki before our stay, with lots of information about Rose Cottage which was really helpful. Despite the bad weather, we had a lovely holiday at Rose Cottage and would have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending it. I’m sure we will return! Thank you to Vicki and Nick for the care and attention to detail of Rose Cottage, I wish all hosts were as considerate.

    Everything is thought of to make your stay comfortable, everything is such high quality. It is so clean, the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed, which is reassuring especially with the situation with covid. The hosts have thought of everything to make your stay a pleasure.     Firstly this was rebooked due to covid-19 in march the process was really easy and staff very helpfull as for the holiday itself ,I cant praise the owners of rose cottage (nick and Victoria ) enough the cottage itself is beautiful and finished to a very high spec with all mod cons ,its off main road so very quiet and hidden away with ample parking and bus stops just 100 yards away so easy to get around ,the personal touches of a box of chocolates and bottle of prosecco on arrival make it an all round pleasurable experience to stay at this property ,they have gone above and beyond with the cleaning process due to covid-19 to make you feel safe in these strange times and they are always on hand to help you with anything should you need it but leave you in peace if you desire I cant recommend this cottage or these people enough they truly made our recent stay a beautiful happy memory

  • "We had the most amazing time at Rose cottage, the cottage itself is absolutely beautiful couldn’t fault a thing it’s so clean and modern you’d think we were the first couple to have ever stopped in the cottage it had absolutely everything you would need to make yourself at home from the bottle of bubbly on ice to the hospitality tray, the bed was the most comfortable i’ve ever slept in the bedding so luxurious and the towels so soft in the bathroom, we took advantage of the recommendations in the folder for a couple of takeaways and they didn’t disappoint, the bbq in the garden came in handy as we were blessed with the hottest weather in the year, we also took advantage of a night in the Arctic Lodge which is definitely recommended it was an fantastic evening cooking in candlelight, the vast gardens were beautiful and very well kept we would sit taking in the breathtaking views every afternoon, the owners of the cottage Nick & Vicky were very friendly and on hand if you needed anything at all for all they actually live on the premises they are not intrusive at all."

    The location is also great for exploring the peak district and lots of shops ect only a very short drive away and a wonderful pub serving excellent food just down the road approx 5 mins walk away! Definitely recommend and we will be booking back up for next year!

    Very, very comfortable with everything we could wish for in a holiday home. Unfortunately we only stayed 2 nights of our holiday as I was very unwell and had to return home. However, we difinitly will be returning probably in the spring so that we can visit all the places we had planned. I spend quite a long time looking for the right place to stay and this paid off as I doubt if we could find anywhere better. A plus as well is the pub 5 minutes walk away is well worth visiting.     Well looked after and spotlessly clean. Modern, light and spacious, yet a cosy feel, this is well thought out, quality accommodation in restful and leafy surroundings. Very comfortable bed with luxury bed linen ensures a cosy nights’ sleep and the well-appointed bathroom provides a fab shower for that ‘wake up’ call as well a large tub for a relaxing soak. There are thoughtful touches, with the chilled bottle of prosecco and tea tray on arrival and access to the Arctic Lodge and BBQ made this a special retreat to remember. Thank you, Nick and Vicki, for your warm welcome and perfect hosting. We are booking our return!

    All the equipment was modern and easy to use. The bed was really comfortable and the area around the cottage was quiet so we could have a good nights sleep. There was constant hot water and the underfloor heating kept us really warm although there was a fire if it was needed. The cottage definitely deserved the high award from Sykes.

    a bit flash for us , modern ,streamlined ,let's start the heating is underfloor very nice even heat ,but the owners did not stop there there is 3 controllers for the heating Bedroom ,Bathroom and lounge/kitchen ,also there is is the log store .The kitchen equipment is all top of the range to us a kettle just boils water not this one ,dual temperatures one for coffee 85degrees and the 100 for tea .The TV which has Freeview but has more channels than we have at home also the owners let you sign into their Netflix at no costs .Bathroom ,the shower is very powerful and get hot in seconds ,the bath looked very nice but we did not use ,Bedroom kingsize bed ,very comfy ,tv with Netflix again ,no road noise ,no lights to effect your sleeping ,the view from the bottom of the garden is over the valley the sunsets in summer must be very nice ,overall a great cottage ,lovely owners Vicky and Nick ,great location for visiting .We would rebook ,and the best bit there is the twin to this one next door

    Vicky and Nick (the owners) are a delightful couple and obviously take pride in their letting of the bungalows. The barbecue cabin is amazing.

The property

This wonderful, single-storey holiday home near Belper, one of two on-site, is an excellent choice for your Derbyshire break.

Matlock 11 miles; Ashbourne 11 miles, Nottingham 16 miles, Derby 8 miles.

Belper, situated in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site, is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds true today. Now you'll find it to be a spirited and bustling town, with attractions including the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. There is a thriving local music and arts scene and the town hosts an annual Arts festival every May as well as Winter and Summer Food festivals and a monthly Farmers Market. The nearby historical village of Wirksworth is also home to a well-established Art and Architecture trail and Arts Festival every September. Just 10 miles away, the popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, are set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent.
