  • "What a lovely cottage, so fresh and clean, very comfortable furniture and everything I could need in the kitchen so well thought out utilising every inch for storage, the only time we have stayed anywhere and have not had to go shopping for basic cooking utensils."

The only thing missing was a guest book so we could leave a personal message to the owners and leave little gems for future guests to read. In the welcome book it asks for us to let you know of any minor breakages etc but there was nothing to write on and we didn't have a pen or pencil. So apologies a glass broke when I was putting ice in it luckily I hadn't yet put my gin in ☺️.

Everything we needed for cooking was there. The fire was lovely and there was plenty of wood. The heating was easy to adjust. The entrance area was very handy to sort out a muddy dog and muddy boots - also very well equipped. Upstairs was so beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We loved it!!

We chose well with Archway Cottage, Crich. Very well presented. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay very comfortable. Crich, itself is a small village but convenient to places of interest ie The Stand Monument and The Tramway Museum. Lovely walks and scenery. Village bakery/tea shop highly recommended. Hope to return someday.

We always easily got parked very closeby. The local amenities were fabulous and plenty of walks from the doorstop. We will definitely be back. Our favourite place and area we have stayed in at the peaks. We even started looking at places for sale nearby, so if u ever consider selling let me know

  • "We loved the cottage which was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and really well equipped."

The reason we have been a little down on our scores is more abut the location. We did have real difficulty parking on several occasions which was stressful and it was disappointing that the Black Swan was not serving food and that the chip shop is only open at the weekend. The King's Arms is closed and up for sale. Perhaps the information about this needs to be updated.

All the little touches added made it an ideal home from home comfort. Unfortunately the rain was relentless and the local fish & chip shop was closed during our stay. The locals were very friendly and the doggies enjoyed all the new smells on our new walks. Our visit to Matlock and Chatsworth House was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed. The owner of this property has thought of everything that a rental should need. and is a credit to Sykes. Thank you so very much for letting us use your home.

  • "We had a lovely time at Archway cottage."

This is a cosy cottage and the owners have thought about the needs of the guests eg dog owners. The facilities are very good and I was able to cook a meal in the kitchen very easily. Highlights were the outdoor area which was a suntrap , the wood burner, coffee machine and dressing area in bedroom. The only improvement for us would be to have a bath although the shower was good. You also needed to keep the blinds down in the sitting room or kitchen as people walk past. Unfortunately the pub next door had closed 4 weeks before we arrived so there wasnt a dog friendly sit in place to eat in walking distance. However there was a great bakery and an Indian takeaway/restaurant. We enjoyed having breakfast in the bakery. I also went to Crich st Marys church onthe Sunday.Loads of great walks and eating places within a short drive. Crich is a lovely friendly village. We had a relaxing and highly enjoyable week.

  • "Great location, very nice cottage."

Would go back and most probably will next year. 2 points which could improve my stay. I had my 82 year old mother visiting relatives in the area, she found the shower slippy and without a handrail, felt unsafe. The second is the toaster, even on highest setting, toast was still white. It needed a second round on half setting to brown it. Not a complaint, just an observation.

It had everything we needed and lots of nice little extras for an enjoyable stay. The owners even thought of our four legged friends. It is near to a pub and social club but neither gave us any noise disturbance during our stay. Parking was busy in the village square but other than dropping off and packing up the car on arrival and departure we always found somewhere close by that wasn’t a problem. We definitely will be returning and have recommended it to family and friends.

The facilities were spot-on, the cottage very professionally maintained and beautifully done throughout. We enjoyed a few nights in by the log fire keeping warm and cooked at home, we also sampled the local pub food which was amazing with a lovely atmosphere too and the local Indian - also great. Both the pub and the Indian less than 50 yards from the doorstep of the cottage. The kitchen had everything you could need, the bed was very comfortable and cosy in a spacious bedroom, the bathroom was immaculate with a powerful shower and the boot-room was fantastic for our muddy puppy who was cosy in his crate bed nice and quiet for napping! The parking was no issue at all, we managed to find a space for our van easily everyday - 80% of the time almost right outside the doorstep of the cottage - 10 yards away on the road and the other times 50 yards away on the market square. We didn't want to leave and are already planning the next time we can come back!

  • "Lovely, well-appointed cottage in a beautiful village located just outside of the Peak District."

Excellent location for exploring the park and the surrounding areas with a car. The local pub, chippy and bakery serve delicious food, with the friendly service you’d expect from this part of England. The attention to detail in the cottage was exceptional - from the welcome hamper to the instructions on how to properly build a fire for the wood burning fireplace. The wifi was strong throughout our stay, we encountered no issues with the heating and the water and found the whole cottage to exceed expectations in terms of comfort. In addition, the kitchen has all the equipment needed to cook up a three course meal, should you wish to. As mentioned by previous guests, the property doesn’t have on-site parking, but that wasn’t an issue as we always found a spot up at the square (a 30-second walk). The only minor issue we had was with the lack of plug sockets in the bathroom, which meant that we we couldn’t use our hairdryer there. Still, I’d highly recommend Archway Cottage for anyone looking for a country cottage experience near the Peak District.

Clean, comfy, warm, cosy . We loved it. The owner had taken a lot of trouble to provide welcome touches and just about everything we hadn’t thought of. We absolutely loved the place, the village and the beyond friendly people of Crich. We met our neighbours and a lovely man filled up my water bottle. There are no views and no on site parking which was no problem at all. We were able to cook and also check out the chippie, bakery, curry place and excellent pub. The Peak District is beautiful. • "I rang the owner within minutes of arriving (around 4:30pm after a 4 hour drive) as I had nowhere to park and a few other things like the 'garden'."

I was told that there's always somewhere to park. No there is not! I had to drive up to a market place and park there. My car was probably 300 or 400 yards away form the 'cottage' which is down a very noisy lane. People are up and down it all day and all night visiting the club next door. This is not the 'romantic' cottage it is portrayed as. It is dark and dinghy and the only view from any window is of brick walls. Don't be fooled by the pictures. They were taken with all the lights on. There is no natural light. My shopping (supermarket delivery) arrived around 8:30pm which is when I found dirty crockey, and a dirty fridge. A cupboard was full of previous guets leftovers, and I do mean FULL. I spent friday night and all day Saturday going backwards and forwards between the owner and Sykes. As I was getting nowhere I left Sunday morning. As I removed the sheets I saw an absolutely disgusting stained duvet. I am now taking this person to court for a refund as I had to spend another £1,000 moving to somewhere cleaner.

The cottage itself seems like it’s been recently renovated to a high standard, the kitchen has everything you need, the bathroom and shower were perfect and likewise the bedroom, bed super comfy with plenty of cupboard space, and Alexa on demand to listen to the radio ;-) the outside area was perfect for our 7 month old puppy, with lots of walks nearby. We were hesitant about parking but in fact didn’t have any issues and were always able to find a space outside on the main street or in the square. The local amenities are great, lovely bakery with friendly staff (great pizza on a Wednesday eve), fish & chip shop Indian restaurant and local Nisa supermarket. Sunday roast at the pub, literally next door!! The owner went out of her way on our final day after we had checked out and travelled home. She retrieved a personal belonging we had left in a nearby shop and arranged for it to be sent to us. All in all this cottage was a fantastic find for us, very happy and would highly recommend a stay here.

We loved the fact that there are local butchers, bakery, supermarket and pub next door, and there are some lovely local walks which are perfect for our daily dog walks. The WIFI and 4G connection was also very good which was important for us as we were working for a few days. The kitchen is well-equiped and the bed is large and comfy. The only minor negative thing I would say is that (this is me being picky) we were hesitant to use the car during our stay because we were worried about losing the parking space on the street. I would also advise dog owners to be extra careful when you and your pooch get out of the garden gate because there are cars passing by occationally (although it is usually quiet).
