  • "We left after one night!"

Could not stay in a converted garage with a shower for a week. Hot tub in the owners back garden on a housing estate. Not enough room to swing a cat !!! Sykes you should be referred to the office of fair trading for selling this as a cottage and/or holiday home. I shall be pursuing a refund, do not rent this property

Thank you for your feedback. I wonder why you "couldn't stay" in a property that many people have stayed in and been pleased with. Maybe you didn't look at the pictures and read the description before you booked? I don't know how anyone could not see, looking at the photographs, that the property is on a housing estate; in front of one house and very close to another. The edge of the main house is clearly shown in the pictures. It is also described as "adjacent" to the owners house. Maybe you missed that too. The pictures and description clearly indicate the property is a studio apartment! I'm not sure what you wanted to do in there but there is plenty of room for a couple of people to sleep, eat, cook and sit in the accommodation and theres a decent sized shower and a loo and washbasin too. I'm sorry Dwaradin was not up to your expectations but it is, and always has been, a tiny house, "inspired by George Clarke's amazing spaces", as it says in the description. Did you miss that too? I'm not sure how the listing or pictures could be more clear. It's a shame when people leave unpleasant reviews and try to affect future bookings because they've made a mistake or misunderstood. Owner Alison's welcome & communication with us was faultless, the property itself is new and clean a bit on the small side but was the prefect retreat for us after our days sightseeing & walking, would certainly rebook again Thank you

Thank you for your kind comments. It would be a pleasure to see you again. I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

  • "The hot tub itself was lovely and very warm, the property itself was very clean and modern, however this property and hot tub is right in the owners garden and on a housing cul-de-sac, there is no privacy, neighbours on each side and at lower garden with windows looking on for a quiet break away from children wasn't going to happen due to neighbour's children playing out in their garden."

Owner herself very pleasant, kind and welcoming however only stayed the one night instead of four. If we had been aware this was in a garden and residential area would not have booked.

Thank you for your comments about the cleanliness of Dwaradin and the welcome you received. I'm sorry you were unaware of Dwaradin's position. The main picture of the outside clearly shows the neighbouring house behind the cottage and the description states that the cottage is adjacent to the owner's home. You can see the main house in both pictures of the exterior. Your comments about the lack of privacy are surprising. Dwaradin has its back to one neighbour's garden and there is a 6' solid wooden fence on the other side. There are two primary school age children next door, but they normally only spend a short time outdoors playing in the garden. The property is in a residential area as is stated on the description and shown in the photographs. I'm not sure how you can have misunderstood the listing to have been so unaware of the siting of Dwaradin. I'm not sure how it could be made any clearer. It's a shame that your ratings for accuracy of the listing are very low when Sykes and the owner have worked together to make sure the listing and photographs are as detailed and explanatory as possible. • "Lovely owner, clean with very good quality decor and fittings."

We loved the hot tub, really nice, this made our stay very special. Our only negative would be the description of this property, we feel it is a garden studio, not a cottage. We did know this however before our stay but feel it should be pointed out to others. We would stay here again any time we were in the area and must praise the lovely shower room with constant hot water and the very comfortable bed with a great eco duvet.

Thank you for your kind feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the facilities and am delighted that you would consider staying again. We have considered long and hard the description of the property. Thank you for your comments. however, I do feel the description and photographs give an accurate impression of the accommodation. Property Owner

  • "The accommodation is compact as described but for some reason we were expecting a tiny old cottage rather than (we assume) a converted garage, however this was well laid out and done to a good standard so no complaints about this."

The owner kept in contact with us well. Our only comment is that the hot tub did not feel private as it is overlooked by the main house, though we never saw anybody else we felt cautious about using it for this reason.

I'm very sorry to see this feedback. The description does state "sits adjacent to the owner's property" and "Shared garden with patio, decking, furniture and hot tub". The accommodation was newly built in 2020. It is in the garden of the main house. The photographs of the outside clearly show the adjacent property and the similar house behind Dwaradin. I always try to gauge the privacy requirements of my guests. I felt you wanted space to yourselves and, as you had texted me "No problems, everything is fine thank you" when I texted you to check, I felt able to leave you to it. I'm sorry about your disappointment. I do my best to make the space welcoming and pleasant for my guests. Most are very comfortable staying in Dwaradin. I feel very sorry when guests are unhappy because of a misunderstanding. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week stay at Dwaradin, our host was very welcoming and showed us how to get in to the property and use the hot tub."

Inside we found although it was small it was incredibly cosy and well decorated. During our stay the weather was very cold and wet, so the only feedback we would have is that it took some time for the property to warm up and it was quite difficult to find the space to dry wet clothes. These are only very minor details though as we very much enjoyed our evenings in the hot tub and using the facilities. It's very well located near many sites of interest so I definitely would recommend!

Thank you for the lovely feedback. I could have provided an airer to dry wet clothes if you had asked. The weather was indeed cold and wet. I take on board the comment about the property taking time to warm up. I leave the heating on low when the cottage is empty and turn it up when guests are due to arrive but will turn it up earlier in future. I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay despite the weather. • "I'm not sure if it was on the description but the annexe was in the owners back garden so there was not the level of privacy we wanted."

The owner was really helpful and friendly and did give us some privacy but the hot tub was in the back garden of the owners property. The accommodation its self was beautiful, clean and had everything you needed. Umbrella for over hot tub that also swung round to cover decking. Would recommend.

Many thanks for your feedback following your stay at Dwaradin. I'm sorry you were disappointed with the siting of the property. I suspect you just hadn't noticed but the photograph clearly shows the corner of the owner's house in the main picture and the description did state "in the grounds of the owners home". In case this wasn't clear enough, it has been updated to read "adjacent to the owner's property". Thank you for drawing this to our attention. We understand guest's need for privacy. Blinds are drawn and curtains shut when the hot tub is being used. The hot tub does have to be tested twice a day by the owner. Thank you again for your comments, and we do hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was not what it looked like, the cottage is in the back garden of the owners house."

Hot tub isn’t private at all. The owner is very nice and welcoming but the stay wasn’t what we expected so we left a day early. Internet is shocking and always lost connection and can’t connect to Netflix on the tv most of the time

I'm really sorry you were disappointed with the cottage setting. The main photograph and the description do show and state that it is close to the main house, so I can only imagine it was a misunderstanding. The hot tub is indeed in the garden but it is private, close to the cottage and not overlooked by neighbours at all. The only person here was me when you arrived and I was out all the next day, so you had the whole place to yourselves. There have been some issues with the internet booster, but if I'd known, it could have been resolved. I was concerned when you didn't come back on Saturday night. It would have been nice to have an opportunity to understand your feelings and try to make things right for you. Update: We have now upgraded the internet booster in the property, sorry for any inconvenience caused. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely, very compact but ideal for a couple."

It was peaceful and comfortable. The only complaint was the WiFi it was advertised with WiFi and a tv plus Netflix , but the WiFi kept cutting out so wasn’t very reliable, and was annoying if trying to watch Netflix. Also you can’t watch live tv as there is no tv aerial in the cottage. we gave up In the end and had to use data on our phones to watch tv. Hence the 4 stars feedback. But other than that it was the perfect little base for us. The hot tub was a nice touch too. The owner was very chatty and helpful the area is beautiful.

Thank you for raising this issue about the wifi. I thought from our text conversations it had been solved, so I'm sorry to hear it wasn't resolved to your satisfaction. We spoke about it the day after you arrived and then all seemed well until four days later, so I was unaware of this being an ongoing problem. Since seeing this feedback I have taken steps to improve WiFi connectivity and TV reception in the cottage Property Owner

Everything was in very good condition. There wasn't room for a comfortable chair to sit on. The decking needed some shade.

Thank you for your kind comments. I'm sorry you didn't have an easy chair to sit on. The cottage is quite compact and has a two seater sofa to save space, rather than separate chairs which would have crowded the living area. There is a large umbrella available beside the hot tub which could have easily been turned slightly to shade the decking. Property Owner

The entrance hall brings you into the open-plan living space, with all the essentials required for a self-catered stay, including a compact kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.

There is a two-seater sofa and a foldaway dining table and chairs, which can be used indoors, or outside on the private decking where you can dine alfresco whilst soaking in the countryside scenery.
