"It was nice to be back."
My wife and I are disabled and having a single storey with no stairs is great. Kitchen table in the kitchen is good. Bathroom is good Living room good. Bed is good. Overall shorter croft is an ideal cottage at the end of the lane not overlooked. There are only two things negative. One is the sofa on the left as you walk into the room difficult to get off.second is the right hand bathroom sink tap is not long enough as to use is causes splashing and messy and the plug hole device jams and needs wd40 spraying to free it.But apart from this we would happily return in the future.
We are glad you you enjoyed your stay with us again. We will replace the piston on the plug in the bathroom. We hope to see you again. Thank you for the feedback. Property Owner

"An absolute gem of a place."
Very clean and comfortable, a credit to the owners who have thought of everything you could possibly need. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful Peak District. Lots of walks nearby and pretty villages to visit. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. We had a very enjoyable week and would highly recommend. 10/10. Many thanks.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the area as much as we do and very happy that you enjoyed your week. Thank you for the lovely review. Property Owner

"We absolutely loved this wonderful cottage."
In a beautiful location that was an excellent central base for the Peak District. High spec inside with a very comfortable bed,and joy, a lightweight duvet for summer! Very well equipped kitchen, and throughout. Lovely peaceful garden as well. We cannot fault it in any way,and would highly recommend.
Thank you for your kind words. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We love to sit in the garden and listen to the sheep and birds when the British weather allows! Property Owner

"Hoover was blocked , did try and have a tidy up so that need fixing ."
The only other thing we wanted was a liquidiser , there was one there but we couldn't find the top for it so assumed it had been broken . Beautiful property very clean and great stay thank you and will be recommending it.
Thank you for you kind feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We will check the liquidiser out and see what's happened to the lid. Property Owner

"Bright, spacious cottage set in spacious garden with a number of seating areas and BBQ."
The kitchen is well equipped even has an airfryer and coffee machine. Cosy lounge, comfy bedroom and huge bathroom with shower and bath. A real home from home.
Thank you for you great comments. We like to sit in shade and sun-if we get any in the Peak District. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"We had a excellent stay."
The cottage was well equipped with everything you needed. The shed had facilities to secure your bikes. The shed was safe, dry & secure. Information about walks & places to visit was very good . It was close to the Tissington trail. Walking & cycling from it could not have been any easier. The private garden, chairs and loungers are a great bonus for enjoying the nice weather on return to cottage. Location is great .
We are glad that you enjoyed the area as much as we do. Property Owner

"2nd stay here and thoroughly enjoyed my stay."
Thanks for the welcome pack. Lovely cottage in a nice quiet spot and a lovely Hotel/Restaurant less than a 10 minute walk away. Walks from the door and when I did use the car I didn't go too far. Highly recommend walking from Youlreave along the Bradford River and Lathkill Dale.
Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your second stay as much as your first. Property Owner

"A very comfortable and well equipped cottage."
It was extremely clean. The only point I would make is that the kitchen needs to have blinds fitted to the windows.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"Shortner Croft is one of the very best cottages we have ever stayed in."
Clean and comfortable and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The cottage is superbly well located for walking and there are so many other places of interest worth visiting. Hope to come back again.

"We really enjoyed our stay in Shortner Croft, the cottage has everything needed for a very comfortable and relaxing holiday."
We encountered some of the friendliest people of any holiday we have been on which made getting out and about a joy.
-
"On the whole a very nice property so much so we have booked next year (2024)."
The facilities were very good. The brand new dish washer was simple to use and very good .The cooker and hob was simple to use and so was the micro wave the best one we have used on holidays. People have commented on the sofa being low and difficult to get up from and this is true. The wet room was lovely but nowhere to putsponge and shower gel so I think a basket with suckers on and fixed to the tiles would be helpful .Definitely a top cottage!!!!!

"We had a lovely week in Shortner Croft, despite the poor weather."
The cottage was excellent ,comfortable and well equipped.Good location ,managed to visit everywhere on our list, and found some nice places that weren’t on our list.Thank you to the owners for the cookies and the bottle of wine much appreciated.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your week. The Peak District is beautiful, but sadly the weather isn't always as pretty! Property Owner

"The owner only provides a mobile emergency contact number for the EE network."
Other networks do not work. It would be helpful if they also supplied an emergency email address as there is good wifi at the cottage. We did have an issue when we first arrived the key got jammed in the front door of the cottage and we couldnt get out. We did eventually manage to get the key out but if we hadnt done we could not have contacted the owner. Otherwise everything else was good & we had an enjoyable time.
Thanks for the feedback. We do say in the welcome email that only EE works in the village but don’t give EE contact details, just ours. We can gladly put our contact email in this email, but you need to be in the cottage to access the Wi-Fi. We will also add to the email that the key needs to be horizontal to remove it. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"Unfortunately the weather was dreadful throughout our stay at Shortner Croft."
Having said that we enjoyed the Croft and the surrounding area. One observation is that both my wife and I have limited mobility and found access to the property a challenge, the installation of a grab handle to the left of the front door would help others visiting.
-
"We had a really comfortable stay here."
It was so light, airy and well equipped. It was lovely sitting in the garden, so tranquil and relaxing with beautiful bird song in the evenings. We explored the local villages and further afield to Buxton and Bakewell. It was nice to have car free days and walk from the door along the Dales as well as the Tissington Trail. We would love to come back again.
Thank you for your kind review. We are glad that you enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and hope to see you again. Property Owner

"My husband and I spent a wonderfully relaxing week in this lovely cot."
It is comfortable and well equipped, rustic on the outside with a spacious and contemporary interior. At the front of the cottage there is a large private garden with a choice of two tables, one in the sun next to the front wall of the house and the other can be placed in shade of trees which form the hedge. The traditional village pub is within walking distance but there are many lovely places to eat within a short drive. The countryside in the area is beautiful and there are numerous walking and cycling trails . For anyone who enjoys peace and quiet, this property is perfect whilst not being too remote.
Thank you for your kind feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"Shortner Croft was a lovely place to stay, well equipped, spacious for the two of us, and only let down by really small details."
The kitchen table had lots of crumbs and dirt under it, and the chairs had had things split down them, as had the kitchen cupboards near the kettle, where we had to clean off tea stains on the doors and handle. We've not found these things in other places we have rented recently. The outside furniture had a lot of green mould/algae on it too, and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. These things, while small, let down what would have been a perfect score.
Thank you for your feedback. I will certainly report this to the cleaners as we haven't had problems before and i apologize for this. Property Owner

"We thought Shortner Croft was a great place to stay."
The location is superb. The cottage is very well designed, modern and excellently and thoughtfully furnished and equipped. Lots of very helpful information about how to use the equipment and about the area is also provided. All in all, a place for a wonderful holiday.
-
"Shortner Croft is an absolutely lovely cottage in a beautiful location."
Well equiped with everything you could need and more. 2 eating places within walking distance and a lovely little village. Thank you
-
"Lovely comfortable cottage, very quiet and peaceful."
Excellent place for travelling around the area. Had everything we needed. Thanks.

"Beautiful little cottage in a lovely quiet location, very well equipped, owners have thought of everything you could possibly need."
Property clean, Bed comfy and a wonderful Wet Room Shower. The Village Pub serves nice meals at reasonable prices. Ideal spot for Walkers and Cyclists. Weather was not on our side for our first visit to the Peak District, rain everyday but did not stop us exploring area. Would definitely recommend a stay at Shortner Croft.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again soon, with better weather! Property Owner
-
"The cottage was a super place to stay to get a wide variety of walks in all directions."
It was warm and inviting to return to after a long walk. All possible needs were attended to but there was not too much 'fuss and clutter''. The kitchen/diner was well equipped and bright. I really appreciated to collection of local books and maps. They encouraged me to explore little villages around, not just the famous ones. Biggin is an interesting place with lots of fresh eggs and a real local pub!
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again soon. Property Owner

"This is a gem, well kitted out holiday home decorated for xmas and with everything you could possibly need for cooking your meals."
The property cleaned to a high standard, bed and settees very comfortable and in a great location. The gift of wine and shortbread was lovely and enjoyed. Used the local bus service into Ashbourne and Buxton to do some Xmas shopping. Walked into Hartington for cheese from the Cheese shop, spoilt for choice, so many to choose from. Recommend the Carriage Restaurant, Newhaven, had a couple of evening meals here, they were excellent and reasonably priced. We didn’t have the best weather at 0 degrees or below but got out and about every day and retuned to a very cosy and warm holiday home. We would recommend booking Shortner Croft, the owners are a credit to this place and we would book again if staying in this area.

"A beautiful cottage in a quiet location."
Very well presented and exactly what we were looking for. Very clean and modern with all facilities on hand. Thank you.
-
"This was our second visit - in the expectation it would be as enjoyable as the the first - it was!"
Biggin is an excellent base to explore the Peak District - and the cottage provided exactly what we wanted on our return from our daily explorations, comfort, warmth and everything we needed for cooking/entertainment - and a great shower. Village pub friendly and a nice evening stroll. We hope to make a return visit soon....
-
"The moment we opened the door and stepped in, we realised we had made the right choice of cottage."
It was warm on arrival, extremely clean and smelled fresh. The cottage had everything we needed and more. We found the location quiet and in exactly in the area we wished to explore. We look forward to returning in the future.

"We had a lovely, relaxing holiday."
Shortner Croft is a clean, spacious, well equipped, peaceful cottage. We walked everyday from the front door along the many trails. The framed map on the wall is a very good, very useful idea!
Thankyou for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We think some of the best Peak District walks start in Biggin, but then we are biased! Property Owner
-
"We had a wonderful stay."
The cottage was very clean and well equipped. A real home from home. Only slight negative comment would be is that could have done with a little more hanging space in the bedroom. The location was perfect for us and loved the rural tranquility as well as the gardens. Can’t wait to visit again ⭐️
Thank you or your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the quiet. You must have had the hottest week ever in Biggin! Property Owner

"We have enjoyed a week in this delightful cottage, every comfort needed for a a week away from home."
Plenty of space and nice and warm. Will hopefully return next year to continue cycling the Tissington trail.
-
"We have thoroughly enjoyed our lovely holiday at Shortner Croft - been before and was as expected thank you!"
All was immaculate with comfortable beds & settees with everything necessary for a well earned Break. An added bonus is the fast Wi-Fi (which we took advantage of) along with the extra fridge/freezer to accommodate the fresh food we brought along. As somewhat disabled, the level shower worked well for me! The quiet cottage is so well situated with many places of interest nearby - many walks, along with lovely Buxton and various National Trust properties! So Thank you for loaning us this idyllic hideaway - we hope to return!
-
"Lovely cottage accomodation."
Extremely well equipped. Great communication with owners. Local pub meals very reasonable. We didn't get the weather but still got out every day in waterproofs which we hung out to dry in the huge bathroom. The hob flummoxed us. Embarrassed to say we had to get instructions out. Who new won't turn on unless a pan is sitting on it. Recommend this lovely tucked away cottage.
Thank you for your lovely review. I'm sorry the induction hob was a mystery! I'll make sure to mention it to future guests. Property Owner

"We stayed over New Year and on arrival we found the cottage was decorated for Christmas, with decorations and trees in the lounge and kitchen making it very festive and welcoming."
The cottage has everything you can think of and more, lots of little extras not normally found in other holiday lets. The bathroom is very modern with a walk in shower plus a bath to relax in after long country walks. The TV had Netflix and as the wi-fi is excellent was a bonus. The garden area was lovely to sit in and watch/listen to the hundreds of birds especially when it was frosty and sunny. There are numerous walks from the village, so many we will have to return to complete them all. We caught the bus from the end of the lane for a 25 minute bus ride through the countryside into Ashbourne to pick up more supplies. The walk into Hartington was approx. 45 minutes where you can find shops and pubs. All in all a relaxing break in a lovely cottage away from the hustle and bustle, just what the doctor ordered. We will definitely be returning.
-
"To be really honest the weather was very foggy at the time of our arrival and only lifted in time for us to leave."
Never the less the view upon lifting was very impressive and it was not hard to imagine what the Countryside would have to offer in The Spring or Summer. The cottage was very clean and all the amenities were of a high standard, especially liked the layout and the hob which is induction. The bed was comfy but people do have their own opinions about beds and how comfortable they are as it would rarely match what they have at home. The living area has excellent wi fi and the Bathroom is modern and very functional with a nice deep bath. The cottage served us well as we stayed over the Christmas period, fogbound basically. We enjoyed our stay though as we watched the Xmas TV and it was cosy. The owners left us some goodies upon our arrival which were welcome. We would visit again as we did miss a lot. But the purpose of our visit was well served to get away and have a change of Scenery.
-
"Great cottage , we picked a bad week weather wise to stay."
The things that stood out were , the very best walk in shower of any cottage / hotel / caravan we have ever stayed in. Decent TV. Lovely well equipt kitchen. Very comfortable bed. In very cold weather it does take a short while for heating to warm cottage. So can be cold when getting up or arriving back. There are two steps into kitchen and the seating is very low so cottage would probably not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
-
"A well designed and equipped spacious warm property on a large private plot in a quiet location for two people to relax and use as a base whilst exploring the area."
-
"Shortner Croft was the perfect set up for a week away in The Peak District."
Very well appointed, clean and comfortable. The location was a dream for people, who, like us, enjoy the joy that countryside can bring you, with walks right on your doorstep. We hope to come back one day and would highly recommend it.
-
"Fantastic cottage, peaceful location lovely private garden."
Everything you want for a pleasant holiday.
-
"Excellent facilities at the cottage for a Peak District holiday."
The welcome pack was appreciated and a great surprise. Located within easy reach of Matlock, Bakewell and many beautiful walks. We had a really great week and definitely will use Shortner Croft again.
-
"A comfortable, well equipped cottage quiet and relaxing location, Shortner Croft has everything you could want for a weeks holiday away from it all."
After reading previous reviews, we decided on this property to spend our first holiday break for over two years. Our only concern at the time of booking was that there was no internet access but on arrival we were pleasantly surprised that this has also now been installed. The cottage had everything we needed for a most enjoyable weeks break. Facilities and surroundings first class. Highly recommended.
-
"First time at Shortner Croft and we weren’t disappointed!"
. It was beautiful both inside and out with everything you would need for your stay. A credit to the owners
-
"Now enhanced by wifi, and still no mobile signal, which as far as I'm concerned is an excellent combination."
-
"The property was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped so it made for an excellent week in lovely countryside with lots to see and explore."
The weather was very good with plenty of sunshine so we got out for some lovely walks in the area. We would definitely go to this porperty again!
-
"Shortner Croft was just great - very well equiped, comfortable, and warm."
We enjoyed the sunsets, morning chorus - and seeing the black-caps hopping about ont he lawn! For us, it was the ideal possition for everything we wanted to do, and the furthest we travelled was to Buxton for the wonderful Museum and shops - and on the return journey to visit the Briarlow Bookshop. We managed to combine walks with visiting many industrial heritage sites loacally and at Cromford, and Matlock. Must make a return visit!
-
"The Croft is exceptionally good value - very spacious, comfortingly clean, well-equipped and with plenty of useful extras in the kitchen and bathroom."
It's nicely situated in a pleasant village, with easy access to cycling and walking trails and a good pub 10 minutes' walk away. We only used the car to travel to the next village to get a mobile signal. We aim to return - but it's evident from the Visitors' Book that there will be competition from the Croft's loyal following.
-
"We had a lovely week at Shortner Croft, the first holiday of the year not cancelled due to C-19."
We found a beautifully clean, light and comfortable holiday home equipped with everything you could possibly need. The new addition of the spacious fridge freezer will be especially useful for any future stays here. There are many beautiful walks from the door so we will certainly try to book again.
-
"My wife and have no complaints about this property and would certainly recommend it."
-
"One of those cottages that you could live in."
Well designed and comfortable. Well maintained and clean. And in a lovely area. Quiet, peaceful and surrounded by wonderful countryside.
-
"Such a lovely cottage very clean and has everything you need."
Exceeded expectations, the photos do not do this justice. Will definitely be staying again.
-
"Wonderful cottage."
Absolutely spotless - well done to the new cleaning company. Everything you could possibly need is there.
-
"Excellent cottage spotless clean, beautifully finished, comfortable, lovely position,"
-
"Beautiful location in the Peak District, and the cottage was newly fitted with all modern appliances, and was very warm and cosy."
-
"Home from home!"
Shortner Croft has everything you could possibly need to ensure a comfortable stay in this lovely cottage. This was our third holiday here, and there is still so much more to explore in this beautiful part of Derbyshire. Biggin is well placed for visiting other places, Ashbourne, a busy town is approx. 6 miles away, lots of high quality shops there, Tissington village is well worth a visit, lovely tearoom opposite the church, Hartington, just down the road, has a famous well stocked cheese shop, and unusually these days, a Post Office! Although I have limited mobility I find the cottage well suited to my needs, getting about on crutches indoors. As a wheelchair user outdoors I have to choose places with easy access, so can recommend the canal path at Cromford, and the tearoom there, also Masson Mills for shopping, the Tissington Trail and Monsal in fine weather. Chatsworth Gardens are well laid out for wheelchairs, and the farm shop sells a huge range of food, and serves good food too! Bakewell is always worth a visit, especially going 'over the tops' via Monyash. The owners, Glyn and Karen listen to the needs of their guests, and where possible will implement them. The wine and delicious cookies are always appreciated. We hope to return.
-
"So happy to have found this little gem, ideally situated and so peaceful."
Cottage was very welcoming, clean & comfortable it's clear the owners look after this property. We had a very enjoyable holiday and would love to return again.

Owner had his cottage well kitted out had supplied us with everything you could possibly think of was in very peaceful location and supplied loads of information about the area cottage and garden well kept had a wonderful weeks holiday there

"We had a good holiday at Shortner Croft, but the shortcomings of the accommodation means that we are unlikely to book this or any other cottage via Sykes again."
Here's a list of the most annoying issues: The cottage is described as having a fridge/freezer, but it actually has a fridge with an ice making compartment. We had booked a delivery from Sainsbury's which included frozen food, but discovered that the fridge had not been defrosted for a while, and we had to defrost the ice making compartment using bowls of hot water before the delivery van arrived, so we could fit our food in. We own a holiday home in France, and it is standard practice for guests to turn the fridge off and leave the door open when leaving. And please correct the description on your website. The mattress and pillows are rock hard. I suffer from back problems, and I didn't have a single decent nights sleep due to the discomfort. Also, the windows do not seal very well, and we were both woken up every morning by the dawn chorus and other noise. We literally became so tired from the lack of sleep, we left and went home a day early. The kitchen was tidy, but I can't say the same for the interiors of the cupboards. To put it bluntly, they looked as though they had been equipped from a car boot sale. There was far too much equipment, and the cupboards were totally disorganised. I couldn't find a set of saucepans with lids, so I had to empty several cupboards and rearrange them. There was a single cast iron casserole, which I couldn't pick up due to may bad back. One of the cutlery drawers was just as bad - I found 6 pairs of scissors, and about 8 bottle openers. It was a horrible kitchen to cook in. Our house in France has simple sets of matching cookware and tableware neatly arranged in the cupboards, with plenty of space for guests' food and equipment. The shoe rack in the kitchen/diner was nice, but there was literally nowhere for us to put our personal things such as maps, guidebooks, torches, backpacks etc. The shelf unit was full books, leaflets, pads, pens and stationary (including a 2 volume dictionary). It's nice to have a few books, but we ended up storing our stuff on the end of the dining table. We regularly stay in Eurocamp caravans in France, and they have plenty of shelf and cupboard space for guests in the living area. There were glass jars and vases all over the place. It's nice to have a vase for flowers, but they should be in a cupboard rather than on a windowsill where a guest may break it. Finally, the website says 'the beautiful furnishings include an L-shaped sofa and armchairs'. Sorry, but there are actually 2 uncomfortable sofas - we didn't use them much as we were out and about so much, but you might want to correct the description. As I said at the beginning, we had a good holiday in spite of all this. We liked Biggin, and the loved the area, especially the pubs, so we will probably be back. But next time, we will make sure that we are booking a cottage that is not so personalised, and is simply let as a holiday home (like our house in France) - it's a lot less hassle.
Thank you for your feedback. We do regularly defrost the fridge and like to leave it on so that it is cold, ready for people to put their shopping in, but we will amend the description. We provide two medium and two soft pillows, and a medium firmness mattress. We are in the countryside, not urban and love to hear the birds, sheep and other trappings of country life. The main crockery is plain white. We deliberately leave a drawer, a double wall cupboard and a vegetable rack empty for guests to store their food in. The L shaped sofa was replaced with two, 2-seater leather sofas last year, as people preferred a higher back chair, but the description will be changed. We like people to feel that this holiday cottage well equipped and has everything they need. Property Owner

"Another absolutely brilliant week in this lovely cottage."
Ideally situated in the heart of the white peek. Spotlessly clean and everything thought of by the owners .
-
"We had been to the cottage before so knew what to expect."
We don't often return to a cottage but this one has so much going for it. Also it is located in a great spot for walking and cycling. I think there will be a third visit!
-
"Well situated for getting to locations in derbyshire as most were within 20 miles."
not that much traffic which made driving more pleasureable. well supplied market in bakewell on mondays. limited parking so do not get there too late. while travelling towards buxton look out for turning on rights with sign for raw milk, the farm sells ice creams made from milk of jersey cows. property has small dishwasher but only small ice tray in fridge. so do not expect to store frozen foods.
-
"Fantastic property furnished to a very high standard in a beautiful setting."
Lovely touch of wine and biscuits and starter tea coffee etc. Left by Glyn and Karen definitely a place to come back to
-
"Excellent location with good walks, with restaurants nearby."
Exceptional property all round. Can only be improved by having some new softer pillows
-
"It was our second visit."
The first last year in snow so we were warm and comfortable but restricted in travelling about. This year was better weather. The cottage is so well equipped and maintained. My husband has limited sight and mobility and he felt comfortable and safe there.Glyn was always available and helpful if I had any queries.

Shortner Croft is a beautiful property It was spotlessly clean, with lovely bedding and towels (all of high quality) The cottage was so well equipped with everything we needed, including hair dryer/straightners, iron, ironing board There is a great selection of books/dvd's/games We would definitely return to Shortner Croft and hope to do so in the Spring/Summer
-
"A lovely cottage with all we needed (and more) with comfortable settees & bed, good heating and excellent wet room/shower along with on site parking!"
Would highly recommend!
-
"Shortner Croft was a beautiful, large and clean cottage."
We were surprised at how large the accommodation was. Everything we needed in a self-catering cottage was available. We felt at home and were comfortable and warm. The area is full of places to explore and we made use of our time in the area. We had no problems with the unpaved road leading to the cottage, but there was not much rain. I imagine the road might cause problems after heavy rainfall. A larger sign at the junction of Drury Lane, for Shortner Croft Cottage would be a help. We did have some problems finding the cottage. I highly recommend this cottage and would return if coming to this area of England again. Thanks for sharing your cottage.
-
"The cottage was beautifully finished very clean and comfortable it is in a very picturesque part of Derbyshire."
It is very central area for travelling to different venues in that area a perfect place for walking and site seeing. I would definitely recommend it and would go again. The only issue i have if any, is the lane up to the cottage although giving it a great deal of privacy is very rough and full off pot holes that when raining fills up substantially with water.
-
"Shortner Croft is a little gem in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, we are so pleased we found it."
This was our second visit to this cosy, well maintained cottage, and we hope to return. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped, everything you need has been provided, and a few extras you wouldn't usually find, hot water bottles and hair straighteners as well as a hairdryer! The bathroom has lovely toiletries provided, both for bath and shower, is very spacious, and, like the rest of the cottage, spotlessly clean. The owners, Glyn and Karen have listened to guests' comments, and where needed, provided what has been requested. Their local knowledge is a bonus, as are the walking and cycling books provided, together with lots of information on places to visit. The local pub The Waterloo is a typical old country pub, warm and welcoming, serving very tasty meals, good value too. In the nearby village of Hartington Beresfords Tea Rooms, and post office, serves delicious scones, breakfasts and lunches, and is the heart of the village, where everyone knows everyone! Tissington village is a pretty old village to wander round, Ashbourne a few miles away is a busy market town, lovely architecture, but very hilly! Several old railway lines, now cycle tracks are within easy reach, gentle walks amid glorious scenery, something for everyone.
