We were so lucky with the weather, it was glorious! The cottage is a real gem. It was immaculate and beautifully furnished. Comfy beds, lots of storage and a fab oven! All the neighbours were very friendly and chatty. No parking issues, we managed to park in the allocated space with our estate car. Lovely rear garden with colourful blooms. The front garden is a butterflies dream! Play park and field opposite which delighted the children. One thing that made me super happy which was kindly informed about by the lovely lady next door is the washing line! It’s very discreet but a minky extendable fixed to the wall the the bottom of the garden. Perfect after an accidental fully clothed swim at Longshaw!!! Everything really has been thought about! The location was perfect, we visited Chatsworth, Gullivers Kingdom and had a lovely walk at longshaw. Ashbourne, Tissington and Youlgrave worth a visit. Highly recommend The Druid pub in the village, friendly service and tasty food. Great communication prior, throughout and after from the owners and a delightful treat on arrival. Thank you so much! We can’t wait to visit again x

  • "The cottage was brilliant, unfortunately it was let down by issues with the parking, in that we felt intimidated by one set of neighbours, who parked so close to my vehicle that I couldn't open the boot, yet there was nothing behind them, parked so the gap was too small to fit in again with nothing behind them, and also placed a traffic cone on the road to ensure we parked in a certain spot, hence the low recommend score, this isssue was a constant worry during our stay, but come departure day the gap between vehicles was what could only be said to be excessive, considering the previous night it was so close I couldn't open the boot."

I’m sorry the parking caused you some difficulty, it can be tight at times. Our neighbours would not be intentionally intimidating, indeed many guests have testified to how friendly and helpful they are. There are always alternative spaces available nearby either a little further down the road by the village field, or at the top of the road on Main Street. Property Owner

It is immaculate inside and out (and bigger than we expected) with a brilliantly stocked kitchen with everything you could need, (other than a dishwasher but hey, my husband is my dishwasher so not an issue for me!). The thing I was really happy with was the amount of cupboard space, as often in self catered cottages there is nowhere to put your food as the cupboards are full of cockery! The host was very welcoming and left a gorgeous welcome pack of a Chatsworth Cream tea in a box, chocolate muffins and pikelets from Chatsworth. He sent a lovely email before we arrived to check if we had any questions, to let us know about the opening situation of the local pubs and the closure of one of the village roads. Just lovely! The sofa and lounge furniture was comfortable, as were the beds. There were plenty of extra blankets (not that we needed them). The location is lovely and quiet and the neighbours were really friendly and went out of their way to have a chat and offer recommendations of things to do. The village was brilliantly located for visiting a range of different attractions but also the walks from the door were spectacular. One of the very best Sykes properties we've stayed in. If I had to be picky the only thing I'd change would be the addition of thicker curtains or a blackout blind in the back bedroom. We had to improvise by hanging a blanket over the curtain rail.
