  • "A spacious property, full of character, with amble secure parking/rear garden and close to lots of main attractions, walks, villages etc."

Great dining area, kitchen, seating areas and bedrooms/bathrooms. Ideal for a group of 8 adults and 4 young children. On a noisy road with lots of hgvs (which it mentions on the listing). A little tired with some damage noticed and cleaning required. No major issues though.

  • "The radiators in the main lounge and dining room didn’t get hot, therefore these rooms weren’t very warm, however the kitchen one was perfectly fine."

Seems like it might be a problem with the valves. Christmas decorations were a nice touch

  • "Excellent property with lots of charm!"

Loved the various rooms and the individual en suites in each room. Tons of space for families or a group of adults. Inclusion of wood for the log burners was a great touch. Overall a really great stay and would definitely return.

  • "I stayed with some friends at the Pig of Lead for a week recently."

We had arranged a sewing retreat and chose this property mainly because of the space and all of the bedrooms are en suite. The house is a very charming, spacious property with a large kitchen with all the mod cons you need as well as a very large table in the dining room, plenty of room for a large group in the comfortable lounges and outdoor space that is probably very pleasant to sit out in during warmer months. Whilst there we had to contact the agent on a couple of occasions, we had some minor queries, needed spare lightbulbs!, which were addressed immediately by both the agent and the property owners John and Julie who really couldn't have been more helpful, more like old friends than landlords. It is in a lovely part of the country and close to Matlock which is worth a trip out to. The property is on a main road, which turned out to be a bit noisier than I expected, but it clearly states this in the description so it's not something I feel it can be marked down on. The wi fi is a little unreliable but only to be expected considering the rural location. My friends and I had a thoroughly enjoyable break at the Pig of Lead and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
