  • "Highly recommended for a family stay."

As my wife said...' I could quite happily live here. Everything was clean and tidy with plenty of space in all areas. The downstairs has fully tilled floors which was just what was needed for us. We had 3 dogs with us.( A St bernard and 2 newfoundlands) There is a good sized enclosed courtyard outside the kitchen allowed the dogs out in a safe area. To walk them we only had to go outside to a small wooded area with a children's play park and field alongside it. A well stocked local shop is good to pick up the few food items you forgot or ran out of and a couple of very local pubs within a couple of minutes walk. It's only a 10 minute drive from Matlock Bath. We recommend this accommodation and will use again when in the area.

Hi and thanks so much for your wonderful feedback and review. We are so pleased you had everything you needed on holiday in Bonsall at Park Cottage, and had a good holiday with your dogs too Property Owner

  • "We definitely enjoyed our stay."

The location of the cottage is good within a pretty village. The tearooms over the road was very nice. The kitchen had everything we needed & the oven & range was good. We did feel that there was a little room for improvement in the furnishings. The sofa throws were very tired looking & we were glad we had brought our own. The towels were very old & rough & we didn’t want to use them. The beds were very small which we found a problem & we're not particularly large people! No hairdryer or shaving plug point. All in all a nice stay but probably needs a little updating.

  • "We have stayed in a few cottages over Christmas in the Peak District and this was one of our favourites."

The open plan kitchen/ diner was beautiful, my son enjoyed the piano, the Aga made cooking lunch easy and there was a generous supply of firewood for the log burner. The owners had thoughtfully left a little food hamper for us and decorated the cottage festively. All stone floors were a plus in this dog friendly cottage as was the enclosed courtyard at the back. The recreation ground was great too for walking the park and my son playing footie. A special place :)

.house was warm and cosy. Easy to follow instructions for key and locating cottage. Thank you . Welcome pack and milk was a lovely touch. House was exactly as described. We had a snow fall and it made the village look very magical! Lots to do in local area. Cottage was well equipped and the log burner was great to have during the cold spell. Would definitely love to come again.

Such a great layout for a family, right beside a small park area for the boys to play and we loved the piano! So good to find a really high level of cleanliness. Enjoyed Sunday roast at the Barley Mow in the village. For others travelling with an electric car we found the Osprey fast chargers at Rowsley a few miles up the A6 very convenient for a quick mid trip recharge.

We never discovered how the waste collection and recycling quite worked as there were unemptied bins when we arrived and nothing was taken out during the week.

Hi and so sorry the Derbyshire bin collection is alternate weeks for recycle and grey bins. We will replace the kitchen knives that have been taken, and so sorry again. We are glad you had a lovely stay in our beautiful cottage. Property Owner

Beds were comfortable, kitchen very well equipped and owners helpful in pointing out interesting pubs and places with the best views. Wood burner was very welcome as we didn't have the best weather. Mini welcome pack left for us and milk in the fridge. Loved all the interesting pictures and ornaments (great jug collection). Outside space wasn't ideal for us as we have a dog but it was manageable. The only thing we missed was blinds in the kitchen!! Lovely village and would recommend to friends. Thank you.

We ate out every night but the cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need if you chose to stay in and cook. The decor is lovely and has a real homely feel. The owner was very helpful and kept in touch with us about the condition of the roads as we were travelling in the snow, which was very much appreciated. Would love to stop here again.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so pleased you loved Park Cottage, and we hope to see you again for a longer visit to Bonsall. Next time hopefully the weather will be much warmer. Many thanks Maxine and John. Property Owner

  • "We all loved the cottage."

Really spacious, clean and a nice mix between contemporary and a traditional cottage feel. The kids aged 4, 11 and 14 all enjoyed playing the piano ( Not sure the neighbours enjoyed it so much!! ). We made full use of the log burner as it was feb half term and the central heating is also really good. Plenty of hot water everyday for showers, the downstairs shower is huge!! We really appreciated the welcome pack of tea/ coffee/ biscuits etc. Lots to do in area, lots of great walks in a beautiful part of the UK. We also visited the heights of Abraham, Dovedale and Chatsworth house, and a spot of shopping and lunch at Bakewell. I would gladly stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Am so glad you enjoyed staying in Park Cottage and thanks so much for your wonderful comments. It's a very cosy home with the central heating and the woodburner too. Don't worry about the piano playing as the walls are really thick with it being an old cottage!!!! Glad you liked the welcome pack and the local places to visit. Hope you visit us again. The beds, although a bit narrow, are very good! The woodburner, completed by a large basket of logs and kindlings, made our nights at the cottage very comfortable and cosy. Above this we were highly surprised by the Christmas decorations en the Christmas trees in the cottage! The owners deserve a big compliment for making us feel very welcome! Thanks again John!

Thanks for your lovely comments and glad you liked our Christmas decorations and tree which we hope made your Christmas memorable. • "Park Cottage is conveniently located in Bonsall Village, with two pubs and a café in walking distance."

Car parking is best on the street, some 15m from the cottage, which is accessed by a series of steps, of which the last few are partly broken and awkward to pass. The lounge has two large sofas and a wooden box which we used as a coffee table. The wood-fired stove was conveniently provided with wood, firelighters and matches. The adjacent kitchen is large, with a table and six chairs with a large Rangemaster gas hob and electric oven. The kitchen appliances appear to be brand new and include a dishwasher, a washing machine, a fridge, a separate freezer and a microwave. The kitchen leads into an enclosed patio with a table and BBQ. Between the lounge and the kitchen, a door leads to a modern walk-in shower, WC and wash basin. Fairly steep, carpeted stairs lead to the three bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath, overhead electric shower, WC and a wash basin. Two of the bedrooms contain standard-size double beds, which some couples might find small. The third bedroom contains two bunk beds. The whole house was immaculately clean and I recommend it as a great holiday destination for exploring the Peak District.

Thanks so much Andrew for your review and for recommending our cosy cottage. You are completely correct that the cottage has been renovated recently, and all the kitchen appliances are new. So glad you found our cottage convenient and enjoyed staying whilst exploring the Peak District. We think Bonsall village is a hidden gem. Hope to see you again, Maxine and John. Property Owner

  • "The location was excellent as we were holidaying with grandchildren & the playground out front was well used, The cottage was nicely presented & well equipped."

Our only issue was the lack of information regarding certain issues- How to use the Tv & the PlayStation to watch children’s DVDs. Also adequate instructions for rubbish disposal- there were only two Green waste bags for a week & no information as to which Green waste went in it & where to put it! We ended up leaving it under the sink -sorry! Overall a very enjoyable stay in mixed weather & would definitely use again.

Hi David, thanks so much for your feedback, we have purchased a larger green bin for the yard following your comments for the rubbish disposal as our original green bin had gone missing!! So no problem to leave the food in the food bin under the sink. Thanks for leaving the cottage so very tidy and glad that you were able to use the play station, apologies for it being confusing. We look forward to seeing you again for a holiday in Bonsall . We like to help guests and are happy to receive calls to resolve any issues as soon as possible when they are staying. We only live a few minutes up the road, so happy to help out with information about the cottage or local information! Kind regards John and Maxine. Property Owner
