  • "Lovely stay again at Spire Haven."

Thank you Tracey and Martin for decorating the house so festive for the holidays! We had everything we needed, and the house was perfect for our family, close to everything Chesterfield has to offer. We had a longer stay, so having access to a dryer would have been helpful but we still managed without one.

Accommodation comfortable and very clean. A lovely welcome pack from the hosts. Thank you. We had a couple of teething problems with TV but these were quickly resolve by Tracey. The house is situated in an ideal place for visiting all that Derbyshire has to offer. You can walk into Chesterfield City center in about 15mins and wander around the various markets. Queens Park is about 15 mins walk too and a lovely park to visit.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Spire Haven over the Christmas period."

The hosts were very friendly and provided a lovely hamper full of Christmas treats upon arrival. Given we were visiting family with small children over the Christmas period, I had asked the hosts if some Christmas decorations could be put up and we arrived to a beautiful Christmas tree - it was perfect ! The house was very clean and is within walking distance to Chesterfield which has lots of great eating options, a theater, shopping and a nice park. The house was warm and we had everything we needed during our stay. Overall, I would highly recommend this property.

All equipment is " state of the art " and there are full sets of crockery , cutlery, table mats , etc. - in many holiday lets , one has to contend with oddments . It is a beautiful house , altogether, and I wish it were mine to live in Dawn Parri-Sawdon.

My wife and I both agreed that this was the best holiday home we have stayed in. It was spotlessly clean and every detail had been carefully thought through to provide a stress free holiday. It looked good online and was even better when we arrived, with excellent facilities and friendly and helpful hosts who were a phone call away. The items of food on arrival was a really thoughtful and welcome touch. The house is conveniently located giving easy access to the glorious Peak District as well as being walking distance from the centre of Chesterfield. We had a wonderful week with our son and teenage grandchildren and will definitely love to return.

About the location

CHESTERFIELD

Matlock 10 miles; Chatsworth 10 miles; Bakewell 13 miles.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th Century church with "Crooked Spire", twisting curiously from its true centre, while the frequent bustling market days are ideal for exploring the many different specialist shops and stalls which line the old Market Hall and charming Shambles beyond. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Nearby, the Elizabethan Hardwick Hall is still impressive today, with its 6 grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds. Also popular is the semi-ruined 17th Century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop, looking west towards the heights of the Peak District. Chesterfield has a host of other attractions within easy reach, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, the amenities of Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera at Buxton. An interesting base for a varied break.
