We came with our 9 year old son, our 2 good friends & a dog each between us. (Tilly & Daisy) The drive up alone is beautiful with the cottages set in a prime position on the edge of the peak district. The location was perfect for us with Dovedale, Bakewell & Buxton all within 30 min(ish) drive through the most breathtaking views and winding (and steep!) roads. My husband and I even took off to the roads for a run like no other we've ever experienced, very worth it! The cottage was absolutely stunning. The amount of thought and little extra touches really made our stay very special, from the welcome hamper, dog treats, dog blankets, hot tub towels & dressing gowns (and towels generally!) Coffee machines, washer, dryer & a wine fridge were all unexpected fab extras. The decor throughout was tasteful & very homely. The kitchen truly was the heart of the home and we found we spent alot of time there (a cup of coffee in the morning enjoying those views was a highlight of mine) The bedrooms were gorgeous and the beds were super comfy. The bathrooms were second to none. The games room was a hit and evenings would find the boys down there quicker than we could blink. What a great selection of games there too! Being heated and having a bathroom down there made the world of difference. I loved propping the bar up and listen to our music over the bluetooth karaoke machine too. The hot tub was a personal favourite, perfectly positioned, private, easy to use, spacious with incredible views! We all had a memorable, very comfortable & enjoyable stay at this cottage that lives and breathes a homely, welcoming feel & we most definitely will be back!

Pastures And The Parlour Barns

Resting at the foot of the Peak District National Park, these luxurious semi-detached barn conversions have been sympathetically renovated to an exceptional standard. Inside, the cottages retain all of their original character, with charming exposed beams and cosy wood-burning stoves. Interiors, however, remain stylish and contemporary throughout. Spacious, welcoming sitting rooms, complete with smart TVs and well-stocked games cupboards, provide the perfect space to relax and unwind. Meanwhile, under floor heating lets you kick off your shoes and stay toasty throughout the winter months. A high spec kitchen provides everything you need for an informal family supper, special occasion dinner or just a lazy Sunday brunch. Three sumptuous bedrooms in each property are kitted out with everything you need for an authentic home-from-home experience, including fluffy robes, straighteners and hair dryers and smart TVs in every room. However, you’ll struggle to stay indoors when you see what the barns have to offer outside. Each cottage comes equipped with a private sauna and hot tub, where you can relax and enjoy the spot’s stunning sunsets. The grass lawns are ideal for a game of croquet, badminton, swingball and football for which is all provided. However, just down from the cottages lies the communal games shack – the ultimate Wild West-themed games room for fun with friends and family. Here you’ll find pool, air hockey, table tennis, table football and a classic arcade game console featuring 60 of those retro favourites we all know and love. There’s also a karaoke machine on hand for musical entertainment, as well as a tuned piano and guitar. You’ll also find a book exchange. If you do decide to explore the surrounding area, you’ve picked the perfect base. The thriving market town of Leek is on your doorstep, Ashbourne is but a short drive, providing fertile ground for antique hunting, restaurants and cafes. As well as easy access to the renowned Peak District National Park, the local area holds many other countryside attractions, including the Dovedale Nature Reserve. Here there’s a plethora of picturesque views, iconic limestone formations and pathways for walking and cycling. Don’t miss a visit to The Roaches, a rocky outcrop carved by wind over the centuries – a great place for walkers, rock climbers and freerunners alike. Meanwhile, Tittsworth Reservoir lies just 10 minutes away, offering various water sports including kayaking, fishing and sailing, as well as an excellent local produce café. For more high-octane adventures, Alton Towers is a 15 minute drive from the cottages and provides a thrilling family day out. Don’t worry about leaving your dog behind for the day either – the cottage owners can provide a dog-sitting service upon request and subject to availability. A fantastic and beautiful area to explore. Note: Both properties, property ref 1001734 Parlour Barn and property ref 957753 Pastures Barn, can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 people.
