  • "Just back from a stay at The Studio with my partner."

The property is exactly as noted in the listing - very small but well organised, not luxurious but comfortable enough, adequately equipped. It's a tiny, tucked away little base in a brilliant location for exploring the Dark Peak area. Communication from the owner was fantastic. I will absolutely rebook for my solo adventures or possibly with my son. For an adult couple I'd suggest it's best suited for short stays.

Probably better suited for a weekend or short break rather than a longer stay as storage is rather limited. Extremely comfortable bed though and it had everything we needed. We'll be back next year!

  • "Cozy little place in a great location."

Ideal if you are not planning to cook, as the “kitchen” is very small.

We agree that the kitchen area is small as you would expect from the website details and photos. However, many people have cooked full dinners. One lady even cooked a full christmas dinner with 3 veg, gravy and bread sauce, christmas pudding and custard. Apparently, she used the pan and 2 tier steamer (provided) and the oven function on the combination microwave/oven which is in the Studio. Property Owner

The kitchen is well equipped with cooking equipment, plates/ bowls, and cutlery, etc. We were able to make ourselves a little table facing out to the peaks with the foldaway tables and the chairs provided. Every space in the studio is utilised, making it a wonderful place to stay in. Heating worked very well, and heating up the room nicely after long walks. We found the mattress and duvet to be comfy, and had some great nights sleep. Parking is not far from the studio at all, and there was at least one space every time we returned. Lovely little walk down to the local co-op and local pubs in the area. Very nice location for some good walks in the peaks, would definitely stay again.

The WiFi didnt work, we stood at sunny Side cottage and it worked once the door shut it stopped working. There was also a mouse in the cottage which we saw run down the side of the living room radiator to the front door we the lost where it went.

We are very sorry and that the house smelt of damp when you arrived. We had been there a few days before and there was no smell. Neither was there a smell when we visited as soon as we read your review and The Studio had then been empty for 3 days. We found a mouse hole and have cemented it. We also laid bait which was not disturbed so we are confident The Studio is now mouse free. We are also sorry that you had problems with the Internet. When we visited 3 days after you left the download speed was 19.92 and the upload speed was 5.15. We have now upgraded the WIFI. The connection is immediate, with a download speed of 36.4 and an upload speed of 4.1. Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at the Studio."

Owners have clearly put lot of thought and care into utilising the space, we found it very cosy and would definitely book again. Cottage was clean and well cared for. Only down side was the parking can be a bit awkward, but in fairness I feel this was accurately reflected in the price we paid for the cottage. Area was beautiful and the local pub, shop and chippy very convenient. Owners were also very accommodating about us having to rearrange our stay a couple of times during to unforseen circumstances, which we really appreciated. Would love to come back in the summer months.

Kitchen area very tight. Need to use small tables during preparation of food. Chairs not very comfortable. I was walking every day and drying gear was only just do-able. Good location but only 2 pubs still open in the vicinity. Only Shoulder of Mutton does food. White Hart friendly local pub. Good village shop and excellent Coop. Parking as described and not overly convenient.

  • "Mattress was lumpy."

Tub chairs were hard - the padding in the seat cushion was non existent. Smoke alarm flashing constantly. Outside seating was a bench set at a precarious angle. Mould in the bathroom. Nowhere to store any food items except the smallest fridge ever. Nowhere to dry dishes. Most uncomfortable accommodation we have ever stayed in.

As other feedback shows, many people enjoy staying in our cottage as is shown by the fact that it has been continuously booked since we were allowed to reopen. Because of its size, there are certain limitations which are reflected in the fact that we believe it to be the cheapest cottage to rent in the area. We have had nothing but praise for the comfort of the bed and chairs. We will however, be checking that the mattress has not become uncomfortable since we last slept in it 6 months ago. The smoke alarm is a legal regulation requirement. We have taped over the light so that it is less obvious but it has to be visible. The outside bench is flat and provides a wonderful place to admire the lovely view. There are 2 food storage baskets on the shelf above the kitchen area. The close up photo of the kitchen area shows there is no space for a draining board, so guests happily dry up as they go along. One of our guests proudly cooked a three course Christmas meal with all the trimmings. The description and photos clearly show the size of the property. Many guests have commented on cleanliness and comfort and how everything has been provided in such a small space for such a budget price. Property Owner

  • "The owners had made ingenious use of the limited space available."

We realised from the description that it was small but were not prepared for the reality of how small it actually was. Fortunately, we were on a short break as, even with being out much of the time, the lack of space would have rendered it very uncomfortable for a longer time. Wouldn't a sofa bed help in this case ?

We have many visitors who find The Studio perfect for their needs and many return frequently. The small size of The Studio is reflected in the rental price being one of, if not the cheapest in the area. Sofa beds are frequently uncomfortable and not allowed by our letting agency whereas guests comment on how comfortable the bed is. A good night's sleep is so important for a happy holiday. • "A small base for exploring the area with most things that you need."

I’d say it was quite overpriced for what was offered for the time we were there (we’ve paid that amount for 3 bed, 3 storey houses at other times in the area and it obviously has a lot less comfort than those places), but you might find it better value at other times. Not all that well set up for hot weather as the small windows don’t provide much ventilation so we had to sleep with the door open (high 20s when we were there, but those temps might not happen very often!) Bradwell has a good bakery and village store. The pubs were not very welcoming, although there are nicer ones in other nearby places.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately you were caught in the post lockdown period when prices for holiday cottages rocketed. You were quite right and very lucky - high 20s do not happen often in Bradwell. The Studio is a very cosy place to be in normal Peak District weather. However, there are 3 small windows that open and the door is a stable door so the top can be left open which has the added benefit that you can enjoy the amazing view of Bradwell Edge from your bed. We are sorry that the pubs were not very welcoming. I can only think this was due to you visiting soon after the end of lockdown when the poor publicans were suffering. We have heard many favourable comments about the 3 village pubs from guests. We hope you return to The Studio Property Owner

We have always found it very cosy and well equiped and had a very nice relaxing stay. But as a previous customer pointed out it does have a smell of damp which was not obvious on the stays in 2016 and 2017 so not sure why, wether this has to do with the weather when it rains quite a lot which it did i dont know. other than that it is good value for money and kept clean.

Thank you for your comments. We are delighted that you love this cottage as much as we do. We were very concerned about your comment about the damp smell. We have spent several months trying to find the cause and now believe we have found it and solved the source of the problem. We have also refurbished the cottage, replacing all bedding, mattress, pillows and carpet and installed ventilation vents and an extractor fan. We hope to welcome you back in the future. • "I thought the bathroom was grubby particularly the shower."

The work top and surrounds were also grubby. The fridge had water that had accumulated in the bottom of it. The place smelt damp. The photographs give a false impression of the accommodation creating a greater sense of space. Quite misleading.

After your feedback, I visited the property. The cleaners had left it very clean. I could not smell any damp. I crawled round on my hands and knees, sniffing all the corners and carpets and still could not smell it. The cottage is small, but lovely. The words small and cosy appear in the description and the bed can be seen in all the photos of the living area, which itself indicates it is small and it is not, in our opinion, misrepresented on the website. As it says on the website, it is an economical base. Despite which, the property has been cleverly fitted out by our carpenter so that all the essential facilities are in the space.
