We have used Sykes before & the standard of accomodation has always exceeded our expectations. Brookside Barn was no exception. It was a super getaway & we had a lovely time. Brookside Barn was spotlessly clean, fully equipped and everything had been thought of for our convenience. Sykes have a robust Covid policy in place & the owners of this property also use a fogging machine between occupants. This all influenced our choice of property. The owners were available if needed and very friendly but we also felt that it was completely private. The village is very quaint but well served with shops pubs etc. There is lots to do in the area. • "From a personal perspective we found the double bed mattress incredibly soft and tended to mean rolling in to the middle (aware some people may like v soft mattresses)."

The hoover was broken and therefore difficult to use. Otherwise we loved the property which was cosy and in great condition.

  • "A beautifully maintained and well equipped cottage."

The attention to detail and little extras made it very homely and not like a normal ‘holiday cottage’. Thoroughly recommended, we will be back.

  • "This cottage was beautiful inside and had everything."

The owner was lovely; we were left some homemade cherry scones for our arrival and told that the cleaners weren't coming in straight away so we could take our time to depart.

Excellent base for exploring the Peak District. Fantastic welcome from the lovely owners who made us feel really at home. We enjoyed a relaxing break at the end of February with our Welsh terrier and will definitely be making a return visit.

The property

A really lovely conversion of a stone semi-detached outbuilding in the heart of Bradwell in the Hope Valley situated next to the owner’s home.

The barn was once used as a coach house and an interesting exterior feature is the restored brass fuel pump.

As the cottage is in the centre of the village, just across from the village green and park, it’s equally suitable for a group of friends or a small family.

On the first floor the twin and king size bedrooms are comfortably and tastefully furnished.

The bathroom is equipped with a luxurious dual overhead and hand set shower unit.

The ground floor features a well-appointed kitchen diner equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave and gas hob with electric fan oven.

The cosy sitting room with its traditional decor and convenience of a living-flame gas stove, is the perfect place to relax.

The property has gas central heating in all rooms.

A small area outside the front door with a bistro set is a great place to take in the evening air and people watch to the backing soundtrack of the babbling brook.

If the kids still have gas in their tanks, there’s a play area within sight just across the way.

From the cottage itself there are impressive views of Bradwell Edge and a host of interesting walks around the local area.

Bradwell village offers the convenience of three pubs which all serve appetising food, as well as an award-winning restaurant.

For your self-catering needs there is a local supermarket, Post Office, bakery, fish and chip shop and the famous Bradwell ice-cream shop!

Slightly further afield you can potter around the historic market town of Bakewell, or the spa town of Buxton, renowned for its spring water, opera house and arts, jazz and opera festivals.

It is easy to spend a whole day at Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, with many historic properties nearby.

Whatever time of year you jump on board, this cottage is just the ticket.
