  • "Great little cottage."

Read the details carefully & it is exactly how it is. Everything you need for 2 people & a dog. Owners were very helpful when required. It’s is hilly & parking isn’t easy but there are places to park. Great location. We looked at the property on street view before arriving which made finding it easier.

  • "Stayed for a week over Christmas and had the best time."

Incredibly well equipped. As we were there over Christmas and local facilities were mostly shut we cooked everything in the cottage. As it was just for 2 people I had taken items I thought I'd need to achieve a Christmas lunch but didn't need any of what I'd taken. As described the cottage is cosy and quirky but despite its size it's had so much thought put into storage and use of space. Bradwell is a fantastic, welcoming village and we felt more at home than we do in our own village. Our elderly dog had a wonderful time and was made a fuss of everywhere we went especially in The White Hart pub where he always got a biscuit and a bowl of water. Beautiful countryside, cosy, comfortable cottage and fantastic people gave us a wonderful Christmas. Would definitely stay again, thank you

We're so pleased you had a wonderful time. We hope to see you again soon Rebecca & Christopher Property Owner

  • "The shower tap leaked all the time and water leaked in through the extractor fan in the bathroom, so bathroom was always a bit damp with water on the floor."

I wasn't too worried about this at the time. The heating and hot water stopped working sometime on the Thursday afternoon, I didn't realise until late afternoon, so I couldn't heave a hot shower in the evening of morning. Fault was "low water pressure" but cold water pressure seemed ok to me. I tried to contact the owner and Sykes but have had no response so far hence the poor rating. I assume Sykes will offer some money back as a token gesture of good will. Alex

Hi Alex, So sorry to hear this My telephone number is in the book yet I didnt received a telephone call from you, nether did my husband. I'm not sure if you rang the cleaner? But I can assure you we knew nothing about this until it was too late. The shower unit has been replaced so there is no drip and the hot water is working fine. I hope that you will come back to winslade in the near future. All the best. Rebecca Property Owner

It was very clean and cosy. The owner was very helpful. It is set in a lovely village close to shops, pubs and a great fish and chip shop! Sunday lunch at the Shoulder of Mutton was excellent!!! For those who enjoy walking there are numerous footpaths to explore the immediate area and further afield. I would highly recommend Winslade .Pat Bagshaw

  • "A cozy clean cottage in a quiet village, an ideal location to explore the surrounding areas."

Yes its small but had everything my dog & I needed for our stay, apart from disappointingly, finding the WiFi was not working which also meant the TV's don't work, appears they are not conventional aerial fed. This could have been an issue had it been a wet week, but we were blessed with amazing weather & spent all day out walking anyways. I also found there is no EE mobile phone signal indoors. Parking - the listing states ' Roadside parking for 1 car, park up on the desirable roadside space' - I assumed this meant there was a designated space, but No, it was a free for all with the locals on the very narrow & steep streets, had to park some way away on a couple of evenings. I think the listing should be amended, as slightly misleading.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately we have had issues with Internet on and off for a while which sykes is aware of. We have now moved to a different provider and a new router is being sent to us. We apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused and we hope that you will return again to Winslade. In regards to parking, Farhill has parking for 8 cars, and the road adjoining also has space for another four, if you walk around the corner there should be space for another 4 spaces. I'm afraid it is hit or miss but usually there isn't far to walk between parking and the cottage. Bradwell is a small quirky stone village, parking wasn't really thought of when the village was built I'm afraid but I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and we hope to see you again at Winslade Property Owner

  • "It is a lovely, quirky cottage with a lovely welcoming feel."

Perfect location for our walking break. The welcome basket was a really thoughtful and appreciated touch. The cottage was well presented and fresh on arrival and we were impressed. The only thing that let us down was a lack of sleep! The mattress and bedding are desperately in need of replacing! The bedding was immaculately clean but underneath the pillows were lumpy and flat and poly cotton bedding felt very hot, cheap and uncomfortable. The mattress was completely worn out. The worse we have ever seen. At the end of the week we stripped the bed as per self catering etiquette - I’m glad I didn’t see it at the start.

Thank you for your feedback. I have had the bed inspected and can confirm that the mattress is in great condition. The mattress is less than a year old and is extremely comfortable. If you could enlighten me as to what your saw on the bed as my husband and I can not see anything that you might have been referring too, please feel free to send me any photos you may have so I can send them directly to the cleaner for inspection. We take all comments on board and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We look forward to your return Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our week in Winslade."

Yes, it is snug, but perfectly well equipped for a comfortable stay. The only thing I missed was a mirror in the bedroom for when I was drying my hair, not a big problem though. There is plenty of lovely walks in the general area and a couple of bus routes through the village to expand your choice of destinations if you don't want to drive. It helped that we had wall to wall sunshine all week. Great holiday all round.

Thank you for your comment and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We have now added a mirror in the bedroom. We hope this helps for your next stay. Property Owner

  • "This is a total one-off, quirky gem of a holiday cottage."

We loved the cosiness and appreciated the thought that had gone into fitting so much into such a small place. It worked perfectly for us and our small dog. We loved the decor, the comfortable bed, the warm shower and the well equipped kitchen. We are not used to such huge TVs or to streaming services, so probably did not make full use of these. The fast broadband/wifi was appreciated. I would have given five stars across the board, but there were just a few things that did not work or were missing, in particular the hooks for the outdoor seating shelf. This would have been lovely on a sunny evening, so we were disappointed not to find them where they were supposed to be. And not to have a hairdryer seems strange. Otherwise, a really lovely place to stay for a few nights. Bradwell is friendly and conveniently located, and we love the fact that it is a proper village and not full of tourists. The precipitous slopes take some getting used to after the Cambridgeshire fens!! Thank you for the welcome goodies. We hope to come back; thank you.

  • "We had an enjoyable stay at Winslade and found it comfortable, warm and cozy."

Bradwell was well serviced by buses which got us to many destinations. We did find Winslade a little hard to locate and fortunately the local postman came to our aid, Perhaps you could use the Coop shop and the Church as pointers to Winslade? Also the key safe could do with some attention as it was very stiff to manage. We only mention these points to be helpful and all in all had a very pleasant stay.

Thank you for your comment. We've now added a new key lock and we will get in touch with Sykes that give the directions. We look forward to your return Property Owner

The cottage is a fantastic little gem! Everything you could ask for and more, a very stocked kitchen with everything you could ask for. The welcome note on the blackboard was nice touch, the tvs and Wi-Fi were amazing, better than speeds we get at home! The village itself was beautiful and overall a great place to stay!

  • "A fantastic little gem, perfect for one on a walking holiday."

I loved the colour theme throughout the property. The attention to detail in the cottage was outstanding- the colour twists on the bannister rail supports, a mustard blanket for the sofa and the little food supplies left by the owners. There are two big TVs which were much appreciated to unwind after some long walks. The facilities were great and the welcome book provided useful information on how to use appliances. The shower was good and powerful, the water temperature was a tiny bit temperamental but the force of the water was brilliant. Everything was very clean and fresh, particularly the bathroom. I loved the lamp in the bedroom, very relaxing. I had a lovely stay and felt very comfortable.

  • "A well appointed small cottage, though despite the instructions provided, the heat was a challenge to figure out, and even with assistance from friends, we never got either TV working."

I'm afraid any longer than two days there would have been a challenge in the given space. For this price, pick another cottage.

Thank you for your feedback, after speaking to Mr Wilson via email it has been made clear that he mistook the thermostatic control as a moisture reader and we will go back to our instruction manual and clarify with a photo for future bookings. He was also not aware that if he had booked for 3 nights instead of 2 he would have got the property for roughly the same price as sykes pricing structure is set on a 3 night basis. In regards to the TV's, they are both in working order and don't quite know what went wrong here. Despite this Mr Wilson ensured us that he had a wonderful stay and we hope to see him return in the future. Regards, Rebecca (owner). Property Owner
