Wood burner for colder times and rugs to wrap up in. Not that we needed them in July. I really wanted to light the wood burner but it wasn't cold enough. Very comfy beds and fantastic shower room upstairs added to the whole experience. The village was a little more remote than we expected but we had packed provisions so the lack of a village shop wasn't an issue for us. Two pubs too but not open two or 3 days a week meant local eating out wasn't as we had hoped but we'd only taken a brief look online and not Rod and Lizzies fault. Football was an added factor the week we were away. Great base to drive to Matlock and Bakewell. Chatsworth is a must! If you are the walking or rambling sort trails abound. All in all and weather and location factors taken into account we would stay again for sure

The weather wasn't particularly warm but the owners had thoughtfully left a good supply of logs for the wood burner so it was very cosy. A particular feature is the outdoor seating area, although small it is perfect for sitting out as it is a sun trap. The village itself is a chocolate box beauty, small with attractive houses and gorgeous surrounding scenery. Very little traffic so wonderfully peaceful, just birdsong and the church bell for audio accompaniment. The villagers were wonderfully friendly. As members of the National Trust we never seemed to have to travel too far to see the gardens and houses. Pity the weather wasn't kinder - however, it didn't stop us from doing the things we had planned.
