  • "Endale is a lovely, cosy little cottage in a pretty village with lots of local walks on the doorstep and places of interest to visit in the nearby vicinity."

The cottage was very clean and well furnished and equipped. It was so nice having a large bed with a good mattress and lovely bedding The welcome pack was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Recommended a visit to the local pub The Miners Arms for one of their pies and a visit to the Miners Arms in nearby Carsington. Heights of Abraham is a great day out and not too far away, Chatsworth House is another worthwhile visit. There are also many local villages to explore. We definitely plan to return for another visit in a warmer month so we can take advantage of sitting in the lovely garden and to continue our exploration of the area

  • "On arrival at cottage we found that there is no mobile phone signal at the cottage or indeed in Brassington."

There was NO MENTION of this in the property details, and had we known this was the case, we would not have booked this property. We needed to be in mobile contact with my father-in-law's nursing home 24/7 as he is very frail, and we needed to be able to get back to Shrewsbury should any emergency arise. We therefore had no choice but to abandon our holiday and return home having only just arrived. I spoke with property owner en-route home (once we had a mobile signal) and also phoned Sykes the next day, but neither party seemed to bothered to accept any responsibility for the lack of not advising that property has no mobile signal. Also no offer was made regarding any sort of refund either in full or partial, which as a long time loyal customer of Sykes, we were very disappointed with. As we were in the property for less than an hour before we returned home, we are unable to offer any constructive feed back regarding our stay. We think that Sykes should establish with all their proprty owners whether there are mobile signals available and include in property details.

The cottage is lovely, homely and very comfortable. The cottage is very well equipped, the owners had obviously given this much thought, because they have covered everything. The welcome pack left for us on arrival, was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. The cottage is in the stunning village of Brassington. We were made to feel very welcome in each of the two pubs in the village. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Endale. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for making it so perfect.

  • "Nice cottage."

...could do with some attention to outside décor, It doesn't do justice to what is inside. Well appointed with modern kitchen and all amenities.....previous comments about it being small are misleading because people haven't read it is a "GALLEY" type kitchen...never a problem for us; small shower room with toilet but is perfectly manageable and lovely décor..nice towels too. Quaint bedroom and comfortable bed. Excellent garden with modern Rattan type furniture just perfect for quiet cuppa . We feel with a few minor details like the odd cobweb removed here and there it would just make everything perfect. Please make sure the welcome document is placed where you can see it.....we found it under a pile of magazines. Nothing detracted from our stay and the cottage is well situated for exploring the area.

    G. salt, pepper, cling film, flour etc. The wood, coal and kindling lasted us for four evenings of open fires, which was very homely for dingy October evenings. The cottage was full of character but the stairs might prove a problem for those with ‘real’ mobility issues, although there are plenty of handrails. That saying we both have slight hip problems and managed admirably. Lovely garden for those using it in the summer.

Well equipped for those wanting to cook. Outdoor area was really nice to eat out in or just for a sit and a drink with nice quality furniture. Bed very comfortable. Brassington is a lovely village with nice walks around the area and a very good place to use as a base. As my partner can't walk long distances in one go we walked to Carsington Water over the hills (about 4 to 5 miles altogether) and used the bus back which although not frequent was very handy. Plenty of things to do within a drive. Very friendly neighbours. Some are holiday cottages but a lot are resident. Sampled both pubs for meals and drinks. The Gates Sunday dinner was huge as was the steak in The Miners. Both very welcoming. No shop in village(which we knew) but nice welcome pack left and eggs can be bought locally at the farm. Definately recommend this cottage and hopefully we'll be back.

Fantastic garden to sit in well planted. Very good access to all local visiting places such as Chatsworth, Bakewell, Crich, High Peak trail etc .. thoroughly recommended. Issues to watch for 1. It's a cottage so low doorways, watch your head if 6ft and over 2. Parking outside is tight as the rental next door often had two cars and the local living on the other side pushed their parking space to the max. Never failed to get parked but sometimes needed my best reversing
