  • "Heating and towel rail instructions hard to work out and shower not perfect."

Apart from those issues it’s a great flat - very spacious and comfortable and great position in village

  • "The place is great, we really enjoyed our stay."

I do think it's a bit of a cheek, after paying over £600 for the holiday, to be expected to strip the beds on leaving.

  • "Good location and tidy little apartment very comfortable and warm Water flow not good and the 2nd bedroom en-suite could do with ventilation as no extractors and the little window was jammed in."

    Otherwise all good.

Clean, comfortable & cosy. Would definitely recommend it as holiday accommodation. Hope to visit this beautiful apartment again. The surrounding area is spectacular with walks and watering holes.

  • "Good apartment with good facilities."

Poor water pressure, therefore showers were not great. Fab position in the village, and in a lovely Peak District location. Great for walking and local amenities (we enjoyed the village shops and pub), easy access to other towns.

  • "Absolutely loved it."

Warm, cosy, clean and very comfortable apartment. Kitchen was well appointed and has a dishwasher which is a must for us. The outside space is limited and accessed via a bedroom window so not for those that aren’t flexible but is an added bonus. The village is great too with enough to occupy you for a couple of hours with pubs that are actually open and literally over a 100 walks direct from the apartment… liked it so much I’d actually live there I reckon… so safe to say we will definitely be going back !

  • "The property was lovely, a real treat."

It's deceptively big with lots of helpful additions like games, maps of the local area, torches and it benefits from having a fully equipped kitchen. The local town is busy daily with walkers and coach day-trippers. My husband, children and I had a lovely stay here.

Spent Xmas there, and it was well equipped to cater for Xmas meals. The owners had also decorated it beautifully with lights and a Xmas tree.

  • "The appartment is quite cosy, however, the lighting in the sitting area is very bright so a few lamps would improve this."

There are spot lights above one of the beds so again a bedside lamp would be better. We had one or two problems with regard to cleaning issues in that the dinning room table cloth had stains on it and the bathroom toothbrush holders were not clean. This is a very nice, friendly little village and a good base for exploring the area. Would recommend people book a table in either pub if a meal is required as both get fully booked early.

  • "Lovely cottage, perfect for two couples with walking routes from the village."

Well equipped kitchen. Very clean and comfortable beds. Only thing to mar our stay is the water pressure which makes it difficult to use any more than one set of taps at a time. We had to keep shouting to each other when it was the next persons turn to shower/ wash/ bathe etc.

  • "A perfect location in this stunning village, with 2 pubs less than 20sec walk away!"

! The property was absolutely spotless on arrival and equipped with everything you need for your stay. Parking at the weekend can be a little busy in the village, especially early afternoon (as this location attracts lots of visiting walkers, as are we!) but we never failed to find a spot somewhere in the village. Two great local general stores, a lovely coffee shop and amazing cheese shop, and some epic scenic walks right on your doorstep. We also found a couple of fantastic restaurants. 10mins drive away is ‘The George in Alstonefield’. A 9 course tasting menu is superb, and this place you can tell will soon get a Michelin star, they’re already listed in the Michelin guide. Then 5 mins drive away is ‘The Staffordshire Knott in Sheen’, another must. Simply look at TripAdvisor reviews for them both. We’d definitely re-book this property again without hesitation.

  • "The property, which is full of character, is centrally situated in Hartington village."

Hartington is a good centre for visiting the walks and attractions of the Peak District whilst retaining its traditional charm. Dales Croft Apartment is cosy, comfortable and well-equipped and quiet despite its central location as the bedrooms are at the back and the double-glazing is efficient. The only minor quibble is that there is only a hand-held shower in the main bathroom and the en-suite shower room in the smaller bedroom is very small but this is obvious from the photos and description of the property so not unexpected

  • "We booked this accommodation for a last minute, post-lockdown short getaway."

It was fabulous! Whilst the photos on the booking website gave a good feel for what to expect; when we walked in, the reality exceeded even our high expectations. The place was spotlessly clean and felt like a home from home. We loved the spacious living area, the character throughout - including the feature beams, the amazingly well equipped kitchen and both en-suite bedrooms which were light, airy and had very comfortable beds. There was a cupboard containing a great selection of games and our 10 year old daughter in particular loved this. The owners had left a lot of information, both about the accommodation and the surrounding area and we really felt that they had gone out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Dale Croft Apartment is situated in the heart of idyllic Hartington Village and was an ideal base for us to explore various Peak District locations as well as family nearby. We couldn’t have asked for more. We would definitely consider returning in the future and will have no hesitation in recommending to others.

About the location

HARTINGTON

Bakewell 10 miles; Buxton 10 miles.

Hartington, situated in the Dove Valley in the Peak District National Park, was an important market centre in the Middle Ages, having been granted a market charter in 1203. Today the ever-popular village boasts lovely tea rooms, a cheese shop, old curiosity shops, traditional pubs and a splendid market square where the stone-carved village pump, once an important source of water for the villagers, still stands on the green. The local bars stock local ales brewed at the Leatherbritches Brewery in Fenny Bentley and Whim Ales in Hartington itself. The former Hartington railway station, about a mile and half from the village itself, is now a picnic area and the converted track is known as the Tissington Trail, popular with both walkers and cyclists. Hartington is also a good starting point for walking along Beresford Dale, a beautiful place with its curiously formed cliffs and rocks. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within a 20 minute drive, and Alton Towers is within easy reach.
