Easy car parking and close to pub and shops. Two good sized bedrooms. Outdoor space a bit limited. Good base to explore the Peak District.

Take slippers - floorboards upstairs are a little rough! We have stayed in Tideswell twice now - good base for walks and nice to have a choice of decent pubs without having to drive.

  • "What a gem!"

Lovely cottage in Tideswell, which is ideal for exploring the Peaks. Village has lots of useful shops, pubs and a fish and chip shop. The cottage has the benefit of easy parking nearby and a covered courtyard. On the negative side we found the kitchen very cluttered, especially the cupboards, which were full of stuff that was probably never used. We had to empty a drawer, full of utensils, to find a can open, which didn't work very well. We usually take some food with us, which we hadn't anywhere to store. Only a minor thing and we would recommend and use again.

Thanks David. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We will check out the can opener. Property Owner

it would be useful to have some information in the property about local resources and opening times etc It would be helpful if there was a book where visitors could write down places of interest in the area

very stylish. Smart tv and Alexa covered entertainment options. Sofas and beds were comfy, visited during very hot weather and the house was easy to keep cool, a great place to retreat to at the end of the day. The village location was very good, everything you needed within a short stroll, definitely planning to revisit.

Glad your enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

Couple of things as you asked for suggestions: my daughter was in the first bedroom as you come up the stairs and found the street light came through the gaps around the edge of the blind causing the room to be lit all night. You might incude a file with instructions on the amenities and local restaurants, services, etc. And we took the coasters from the kitchen into the lounge in the evenings to protect the furniture, maybe you could add a few in there? That's about all we could think of, otherwise it's great. Thank you !!!

Thanks for your feedback. We have added more coasters and we appreciate you taking good care to protect the furniture. We are looking into options for blinds. Property Owner

The house was immaculate and very comfortable. I sugest a visitor's book, and a non slip bath mat for the shower. Also the wooden step by the bath needs replacing with one or something that doesn't slide when you step on it. I twisted my back but fortunately OK now. Hope to stay again. Oh and the prosecco was a lovely touch. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry to hear about your back. We have added a non-slip mat in the bath and replaced the wooden step-on with a cloth one. Property Owner

The cottage is well equipped with modern and stylish furnishings. The beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms more spacious than they look in the photos. We appreciated the log burner and the logs etc left for this. The check in was easy and the accommodation had everything we needed for a very enjoyable holiday. We would definitely recommend and look forward to a return visit!

  • "The cottage is fine (but would be a bit cramped for four adults) It’s warm and comfortable and a good location."

A few things need improving:- The lighting in the lounge/living room is very dim and not adequate to allow reading in the evenings....which we and many others do. This needs sorting. There was no teapot which should be a standard item. There was no information/instructions on use of equipment. We worked out the cooker/oven but couldn’t get the television to work properly - a user guide is all we needed! I believe these issues can be easily resolved. Car parking in the square was ok since once there we left the car for three days.

Thank you for your comments. To address your points: We have now improved the lighting in the living room so that it provides for reading whilst still giving ambience. There was a tea pot in one of the cupboards and we have now added a second one. Instruction booklets for appliances are in the living room corner cupboard. We will now mention this in our welcome message so that people know where to find them if needed. The TV aerial was down and we have now had a new one installed. Thank you for drawing this to our attention. We are glad you found the cottage warm, comfortable, in a good location and with adequate parking. Property Owner

Cottage is a delight, a great mix of contemporary and period. We all found the house to be warm, bright and comfortable-especially the King sized beds. Kitchen is well equipped, cooked most nights. At night the area, although central to amenities, is very quite apart the mellow peel of the Church bell, you could hear a pin drop outside. People in village are friendly, great amenities including an excellent butcher with pork from her own farm. Greengrocer, bakery and small co-op. Ate at The Star, few hundred yds away, excellent "home cooked" food and the George inn for Mothers day. Thoroughly recommended 2 Market Sq. Worth a trip if going further afield, is Jodrell Bank, fascinating day out.

The owners have made sure everything you need is readily available and we very much appreciated the bottle of wine chilling in the fridge upon our arrival. Free use of the supplied fire wood was another addition we felt an example of the owners going the extra mile to make our stay comfortable and great value. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout with a clean and modern yet cosy cottage feel which really made it a home from home. Tideswell itself is a lovely little village with 2 pubs and a range of shops to get your groceries from within a few minutes walk. Great base to explore the Peaks. We would highly recommend

  • "Beautifully appointed and cosy."

Really comfy beds, lovely clean bathroom and kitchen. I’ve stayed twice now and the convenience for the amenities in Tideswell, available parking and it’s central position for walking and attractions in the Peaks has been perfect for our needs. If I had one complaint it’s about light. The lighting in the house is set up for mood rather than practicality and there’s a lack of bright enough lights for reading and planning walking routes in the lounge. There’s also an excess of light coming through the blinds from street lights at night as they don’t fit the windows. The second time I visited I took a sleep mask and we did all our map and walking guidebook reading before it got dark!

Great renovation with history in mind. Quite comfortable and cosy. Wanted to buy this cottage, loved everything about it and the village of Tideswell. We have rented several cottages over the years during our trips to England and this has by far been our favorite. Loved the fact there was enough wood for us to have a fire each night. We were able to walk to several pubs and grocery. This is the lifestyle I crave. I thank the owners had guests in mind with every change they made.
