  • "Probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in."

Spotlessly clean, warm and everything provided, plus a welcome pack. Plenty of room for a large family and lovely to have a large dining room opening on to the patio. Parking for 3 cars, a must in Tideswell and situated in a beautiful spot, you couldn’t wish for more. We will definately be coming back !!

It was like a home-from-home it had everything from a well equipped kitchen, grab rails for my 84-Yr old mother to climb the stairs to good wifi to help my daughters. Plus the welcome pack contained local oatcakes, bread and butter. A great stay, excellent location and charming cottage - would like to come back again!

It was quite nice for a change to have a separate Dining room. Parking was really good which is always a challenge in Villages. Location excellent with short walk into the village. I certainly would book again in the future and have already recommended Brookside to others. Well done on an excellent rental. Regards Mrs P

  • "We had a wonderful long weekend staying in Brookside cottage with family including 2 children and a dog."

Brookside is perfectly situated between Bakewell and Buxton, there are numerous dog friendly local pubs and walking trails right from the door or within short driving distance. Winnats pass and Monsal head were some of our favourites. The cottage is very comfortable and extremely clean especially considering they accept dogs. We were a group of 7 plus a dog and felt we had plenty of space. The location is quiet while still being on the edge of Tideswell village. Only small negative is that the garden is not very secure with a dog due to the low wall, however this didn’t take away from the overall experience. Would love to stay again!

  • "Booking was as straightforward as the arrival process with James responding quickly to communication."

The cottage was very well furnished and the kitchen extremely well equipped - possibly the best we have ever come across in respect of large and small items. Cleaning had also been completed to a very high standard and items to keep it that way readily available. Of course the small touches also make a difference and so the welcome basket of local goodies including but not limited to the 'essentials' of bread, milk, butter and eggs was a lovely touch. The only minor issue was that our 15 year old complained that she could feel a number of springs in the single bed which disturbed her sleep. However, all the other beds were very comfortable and in all cases the sheets, towels and all associated linen was very high quality. The local village has all the shops needed and if you want more Bakewell is just a few minutes drive away. There are lots of good walks within a short drive too and our two dalmatians were just as impressed as we were and they were secure in the garden. The big question is of course, would we stay again. The answer, definitely!

It is only a short walk into Tideswell & there is a pavement to make this a safe trip , after about 18:00 there is hardly any traffic anyway . We were very touched & impressed with the kind gift of food & milk that the owner had left for us , it was all nice but the oatcakes were delicious , thanks very much .

The cottage is on the edge of the pretty village Tideswell within easy walking of the shops, pubs and cafes. The cottage itself is lovely and cozy with everything you need for your stay - the kitchen in particular is very well equipped. It has pretty gardens (dog owners should be aware that there is a very low wall between the garden and sheep in the field next door) with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Lots to do in the surrounding area especially if you enjoy walking. We did have a small issue with the shower whilst we were there but the owner fixed it really quickly so it didn't cause us a problem. We'll definitely go back and would recommend to others.

It is very well equipped with a gorgeous garden and outdoor seating which we enjoyed. Tideswell has good places to eat and we accessed some local walks with our dog. • "We had a comfortable and relaxing stay at Brookside Cottage."

The house is well equipped, although only one pillow per person was provided. However, I have the feeling that the obliging owner would be able to provide some more if requested. The kitchen is extremely well equipped to a high standard. The only slight concern was that the en-suite bathroom is very compact and would be difficult for anyone who is very overweight to negotiate. My only worry before going to Brookside was that, from the photo and the name, Manchester Road would be quite busy. It wasn't at all. The cottage is within easy walking distance of the lovely Tideswell and we were able to walk to both the well-stocked Coop and several different places for an evening meal. The cottage and garden are really pretty - there are even fresh raspberries and blackcurrants that can be picked for breakfast and lots of fresh herbs. It's a shame that the photo on your website was taken on a dull day as it really doesn't do justice to it.

Beds comfortable. Kitchen well appointed and meals taken in very pleasant dining room. Cottage is on a roadside with off road parking for 3 cars.

This is a cottage and whilst we can accommodate sleeping 7 adults as well as a substantial dining room with excellent parking facilities to arrange a layout for 7 seating in the sitting room would be physically very difficult and completely spoil the ambience of the place. Property Owner

Love the layout of Brookside, cosy, comfortable lounge and the separate dining room was perfect on the two evenings that we stayed in. The location is brilliant, a short stroll into town yet quiet and secluded. The outside area and garden is very well maintained, would to come back in the Spring or Summer to see everything in bloom. A couple of small suggestion, the walk in shower would benefit from a shelf for toiletries, think there was one but it has fallen off. Also, some extra cutlery in the kitchen, there was only four of us but we seemed to get through it very quickly. Perhaps an extra set in the dining room? But apart from that it was great. Hope to be back again.

The property is only a 5 minute walk from the centre of the village where there are plenty of nice places to eat and drink. We visited the Star down the road for the first time and the food and atmosphere was good. The property is very well equipped and very comfortable - important for us given we had a very wet week. Tideswell is well positioned - only a 15 minute drive from places like Castleton, Bakewell, Buxton and Hathersage where there are plenty of walks, shops etc. Not our first time in Tideswell and I am sure not our last. Thank you.

The property

In the well-appointed village of Tideswell, set in the limestone uplands in the Peak District is this wonderful detached property, Brookside Cottage, a large dwelling not far from the centre of the village.

Perfectly suited to a group of friends passionate about walking, or a family holiday to get the kids outside and in the fresh air, you are sure to be delighted by Brookside Cottage.

Enter the property, hang your coats up on the coat rack and kick your walking boots off before heading into the welcoming sitting room where you can fall into one of the armchairs or spread out on the sofa in front of the gas flame fire.

Turn on the television for an afternoon of films, or move into the dining room and set up a fun board game if it's a rainy day for a bit of healthy family competition!

Later on serve up your delicious home-cooked meal on the round French style dining table, with both the sitting and dining room benefiting from French doors leading out to the patio outside, letting beautiful natural light in.

Prepare for a day of being outdoors by making packed lunches in the well-equipped kitchen, using it to rustle up some treats to enjoy when you need it most.

After the long days exploring and making the most of your Peak District adventure, you'll need a good night's rest, so head up the stairs to find four delightful bedrooms, any of which you'd be happy to rest in.

There is a king-size room which affords you with an en-suite shower room, two doubles and a single, served by a family bathroom where you can soak in the P-shaped bath to relax those achy legs.

The outside area is picturesque, with a brook running to the side of the property, which you can hear tranquilly trickling along in the quiet of the morning.

An enclosed patio area holds garden furniture .

The village of Tideswell is a great place to stop in; it has shops, pubs and local businesses, and hosts Tideswell Food Festival every year in May, with an array of demonstrations, stalls, and entertainment.

Regular concerts are put on in the lovely church from local groups like the Male Voice Choir.

Towards the southern end of the village is Tideswell Dale which is a nature reserve park featuring a fun sculpture trail.

Of course you are positioned close to other popular towns of the Peaks, such as Buxton, Bakewell and the abundance of the rolling countryside.

Brookside Cottage will be the perfect host for yourself and your family, centrally located in the Peaks.
