  • "Lovely home, thank you for our stay."

We'll definitely be back, especially as we didn't manage to climb up any of the Ethels!

  • "An absolute gem of a property - we loved our stay, as did our four legged family member Boots."

One of the best equipped places we have stayed in. Clean and tidy on arrival (though sofas could do with a wash). Loved getting used to using the Aga. The only issue is the double bed in the main room creaks and sways a lot. If it weren’t already booked up, we would definitely be coming back later in the year!

  • "The cottage is lovely, well appointed and cosy."

The kitchen is large with an Aga that was a joy to use. The cottage is in a lovely part of the countryside with lots of short and long walks in the immediate vicinity. As the cottage is on 3 stories it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

  • "We had a lovely time thank you so much."

I must say tho I was quite disgusted when I stripped the bed and saw all the stains on the mattress no mattress, pillow or duvet protectors also the bed needs changing makes awful noises when moving. Would be nice if there could be a gate put up at the top outside so dogs can’t run onto the main road. Lounge floor had so many stains clearly hasn’t been mopped also fridge could do with a good clean. Also no Hoover available or mop if needed. It’s a beautiful cottage but definitely needs to be cleaned to a higher standard but it didn’t spoil our time there.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your custom and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. However, I am sorry that you had a few unfortunate experiences. I do have mattress protectors but it seems that after being in the laundry they were not put on this time by mistake, but are on now. I have subsequently purchased pillow protectors. The bed is period furniture and so does creak a bit. I queried the unclean fridge and floor stains with the cleaner. Without photos it is difficult to ascertain this, although I apologise if anything was missed, and she is on hand to help during the stay. I hope you may consider to stay with us again. Kind regards, Owner, Bamforth Cottage Property Owner

Really well- equipped kitchen. Amazing scenery and walks from the doorstep. Great pub a short walk away. Even better if... there were a couple of deckchairs to sit out on the decking.

  • "The cottage was just lovely."

It was warm, with a high standard of cleaning and well furnished. We had a slight problem with the heating which Kyra (house keeper) sorted very quickly and efficiently. The situation of the cottage was perfect for amenities, walks and shops. I would absolutely book this cottage again.

  • "The property is in need of a deep clean, given the check out and check in times there is sufficient time to clean."

We ended up doing some cleaning on arrival. Black mould in the shower, no excuse this isn’t acceptable. Parking is on a busy main road and there is no back garden, we found the photo of the garden to be misleading. We liked the house being split over 3 floors and getting to use an Aga was an experience. We wouldn’t stay in this property again.

  • "What a fab property and area."

This is the first time we have visited this part of Yorkshire and were not disappointed the area and views were amazing and it was easy to get to Leeds or Manchester from the property. The property was just what we needed quite, clean, homely and with everything we needed. It was great to use the Aga and at night to sit around the log fire and during the day looking at the countryside and surrounding area. We enjoyed the area so much we will be back later 2020 with a view to move to the area.

  • "Be careful because The cottage is number 236 but the directions say that the cottage is number 208 Also the cottage is listed as per friendly But dogs are supposed to sleep in the kitchen which is on the ground floor."

Our dog will not sleep on his own so to save a couple of nights of wining, barking And possible damage to the door from him trying to get up stairs I ended up stopping in the kitchen with him which is far from ideal. I feel this should be put inThe listing to avoid this happening to any one else. Apart from that the cottage is loved in a Great location

About the location

HOLMBRIDGE

Holmfirth 1 mile, Huddersfield 8 miles.

The small village of Holmbridge is situated just 1.5 miles from the traditional Pennine market town of Holmfirth, within the beautiful Holme Valley. The village has two pubs, a cricket club, a convenience store, a church and its own vineyard which offers tours, tasting and great food. In 2014 the Tour de France passed through the village and the challenging climb of Holme Moss is nearby. Close by, the town of Holmfirth has old stone cottages, winding streets, parks, shops, bars, restaurants and the infamous music venue, The Picturedrome. The Holme Valley hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including the now famous Festival of Folk (May), The Arts Festival (June) Food and Drink festival (September) and a great Music Festival (October). These main festivals run alongside and with other smaller festivals and weekends, such as the Film Festival, The Macmillan Art Exhibition, the Christmas markets, The Scarecrow Festival and, of course, the big cycle race ‘Le Tour De Yorkshire’, this is a wonderfully cultural place to visit. The town was made famous as the setting for the long-running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine. The nearby Colne Valley is home to fictional Skelthwaite from the Where the Heart Is series and, within reach, is the wonderful Peak District National Park – the setting for many picturesque and breathtaking scenic views. The town of Huddersfield and the bright lights of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield are all within a short drive, making this an ideal base for exploring this exciting and exquisite area of Yorkshire.
