Really clean, very well stocked, including all items needed for the fire. Really quiet location, perfect for what we hoped for new year. The local pub is interesting, well worth a visit if you want a truly local experience. Fab walks straight off the door step. Lovely fish and chip shop in Crich and a great pub. We had a lovely welcome basket with tea/ coffee/ milk sachets/ biscuits and a box of Christmas chocs - what a lovely touch. I would highly recommend this cottage for a fantastic break.

Beautiful comfortable cottage. Good facilities and household items (cafetière, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, bottle opener, jug etc). Thoughtful gesture of adding small Christmas tree as we stayed over Christmas. Easy to find with instructions given. Log burner lovely with some logs/ kindling provided (we needed more & gif some at local garage- quite expensive!) Good communication as we had problem with newly installed shower. There was a hose shower attached to bath which worked perfectly. Host Helena tried to sort plumber but not possible over Christmas. Not a problem. Overall really happy with our stay. Thank you

Set in the beautiful Derby Dale's. Secluded enought to enjoy the peace and quiet but close enough to local amenities. It was clear that the property Ower takes great pride in maintaining this property. The kitchen is well stocked with every utensil, pot, pan and casserole dish you could need. The lounge is very comfortable with a wood burning stove which took the nip off the fresh autumn air. The bedrooms were very comfortable and each morning it was tempting to skip breakfast for an extra lay in bed. The owners have left a very helpful binder full of useful information about the cottage and surrounding areas. Over all a lovely well presented cosy cottage. Now we know it's here we will be booking for our return visits

  • "The house was very clean and had everything you could need on holiday."

The beds were very comfortable with the exception of the bed in the single bedroom on the top floor. However the heating was set at a limit of 19c and rarely came on, not a problem in the summer maybe, but it was cold in the autumn especially on the top floor which is where the children slept. I imagine in the winter months it would be very cold.

Everything about the cottage and location was perfect for our family. The cottage is surrounded by fields with endless walks on offer, and my toddler in particular loved being able to step outside the front door and pick blackberries off of the bushes growing down the lane. The cottage was in a peaceful and relaxing location and has a very rural feel about it, whilst only being 2 minutes away in a car to the local village of Crich where there is a local shop and chemist for any emergency supplies needed. There are two pubs in walking distance, the Red Lion in Fritchley for drinks and the Canal Inn in Bullbridge for gastro-pub food and drinks.

In an ideal location for walks and places of interest. The beds were really comfortable and the shower was so easy to use. The cottage was really cosy and the garden was private with garden furniture where you could sit out and have a cheeky glass of wine. There are nice walks from the doorstep to the nearby village, Crich where there is a Bangladeshi restaurant which was excellent. We will definitely be back. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Alongside the rural and rustic charm, the provision of bang up-to-date tech equipment with reliable Wi-Fi and cinema-size tv will entertain children and adults alike The location is beautiful offering superb views of the dales from the cottage and its pretty garden. The area is beautiful and there was enough space for our three kids to play inside and outside in the fields. We very much loved the interior decoration of the house. It was very calming and stylish. It temperature in the house was a bit chilly for our liking as the heating temperature was locked to 19 °C max. It should maybe be stated in the description that therefore the fire is needed for heating the house to a warmer temperature. But ecologically this is obviously quite good.

Location is only 15 mins drive from Matlock Bath, we explored The Heights of Abraham ( a must if you’ve never been, the cave tours are stunning..) then on way back called at The Crich Tramway Museum. As a previous review has mentioned, the kitchen is tiny but well equipped and enough to cook basic meals. We would highly recommend Fieldside. The location is great being 5 minutes from the A38. The next village, Crich, has local shops including an excellent butchers and bakery (the diet went out the window!). We had a lovely time. The neighbours were lovely too! Two things would make it better - to change part of the downstairs under stairs cupboard into a loo [ with 5 folk in the house it got a bit fraught some mornings when someone needed the loo -- but someone else was in the shower!] Floor fans/ lighter weight bedding would have been good as it was very hot in the bedrooms. The owners have thought carefully about the layout and offer the flexibility of twin beds that can be zipped together to create large doubles - perfect for our family group of 2 adult couples and 2 small children. It was very well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The travel cot, highchair and movement sensing night lights were extremely useful and our older granddaughter was delighted to find a stash of games to play when it rained. The cottage contained lots of maps, walking guides and information about the local area. We particularly enjoyed walking directly from the cottage as we found there were footpaths in every direction offering a great variety of scenery from rolling hills covered in wildflower meadows to the intertwining river, railway and canal in the valley bottom gradually revealing the industrial heritage of the area.
