  • "The location is idyllic and perfect for walkers and outdoor types but you would need transport if you wanted to go out in the evenings in the dark."

I would not describe the property as a cottage, more as an apartment. The kitchen is very small and a long way from the table, along a corridor and through the sitting room. It’s fine for breakfasts and snacks but wouldn’t want to be cooking meals in it as per the description. Couldn’t find any instructions for the heating and it was a bit chilly at times. The local information was all located in the games room rather than the individual properties but only found that by chance. Would be good to have some books/board games for long Winter nights. During our stay I couldn’t get a Wi-Fi connection, although the tv did work. We were visiting family in the area so it was fine for us as a base but I would have reservations about recommending it for a family holiday other than in high Summer.

  • "Accommodation was well prepared and clean."

Master bedroom bed did not feel king sized and mattress is at the end of its life, storage space in that room was limited. The only large mirror in property was in the twin room so not accessible to all holidaymakers. Twin room good size and good storage. Lounge comfortable. Dining area good but a long way from the kitchen. Bathroom has a good shower. Kitchen lacked a few useful things, such as potato peeler and grater, and it would have been helpful if there was one more plate/bowl/glass than people. Surprised to find the heating on on our arrival (in mid August) although straight forward to turn off. Instructions as to what can be recycled in Derbyshire would be useful as would clear signage for which bin was which. Directions as to how to access the rear garden would also have been useful. Local eggs sold in the games room were tasty. We were amused by the resident goat's climbing ability.......!

  • "We have stayed here before in one of the adjacent properties and wanted to stay again."

The owners are friendly and helpful and the properties are kept to a high standard. Also pet friendly a big plus for us.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Burton Manor Cottages!"

The cottage was spotless, had all the little amenities you would need; washing up liquid, hand gel, fluffy towels, fresh bedding etc and nice little touches such as the fresh milk on arrival. My son loved the farm, with the tractors and diggers about and the farm animals too. Fantastic location for visits to Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock etc. Would definitely recommend!
