  • "Superb accommodation in a wonderful part of the Peak District."

As a multi generational group we found the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen spacious and absolutely perfect, catering for all of our needs and requirements. There was excellent support and communication from all those involved in our stay. The location, so near to Buxton centre, and with many other attractions nearby provided us all with happy and and enjoyable days, and many lasting memories.

  • "We had a good stay at 11 Eagle Parade, a wet week in August, so we spent quite a lot of time in the flat!"

It's huge and well-appointed, the kitchen has everything you need, including a washing machine and dryer. We used the board games, played several games of Monopoly while the gales raged outside... The beds were super comfortable, and there was lashings of hot water in the showers and baths. The location is brilliant for wandering around Buxton, near the museum and opera house and park, and lots of restaurants and take-aways. Sainsburys is next door, so we did a lot of self-catering. Scriveners bookshop is a two-minute walk away, with five floors of wonderful second-hand books. Buxton is a good location for exploring the rest of the Peak District too, and we made it out to Whaley Bridge, Lyme House, Chatsworth (unbelievably impressive house and gardens), Bakewell, visited lots of terrifyingly claustrophobic caves, and even drove in to Manchester for an Old Trafford stadium tour (about an hour away). So, we had a great holiday. A few minor niggles. The car parking is extremely tedious! You can park at the weekend and evenings, but not during the day, so on wet days when we wanted to stay home, we had to move cars into nearby car parks and pay £3.70 for 24 hour parking. It doesn't sound that bad, but it would have been nice to have a lie-in sometimes instead of putting on coats and going out in the rain! Friday nights and Saturday nights there are loud nightclubs nearby, and karaoke went on until 2am, so if you're a light sleeper, that might be a problem. This might not be every week, so worth checking. And in 11 Eagle Parade, the sofas don't face the tv! So if you want to watch something, you end up with a crick in the neck from sitting with your head turned for too long! The sofas are huge, comfortable beasts, but impossible to move them into a better position. Overall, a good place at a reasonable price, and if you get great weather and want to go out and about all day, the parking won't be a problem.

  • "We weren't expecting such wonderfully spacious accommodation and the photos don't do it justice."

In fact, we kept getting lost. When we first arrived we just wandered round with our mouths hanging open. It certainly has the Wow factor. Not only is the apartment very roomy, it also has beautiful oak furniture and lovely artwork on the walls. The armchairs are also gorgeous, and each one is different, a work of art in itself. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and I'm glad we had planned to eat in most nights, so we were able to make the most of that lovely room.

  • "Lovely, spacious and well-equipped flat in the heart of Buxton that was perfect for our party."

Flat is in an ideal location (although being in the heart of Buxton it was a tad noisy with Friday and Sat night revellers but nothing so bad that would prevent me staying there again). Ideal for a family or a group of friends. All arrangements and communication from Sykes was spot on and we loved the touch of a bottle of Fizz and tea bags etc that we found on arrival. Would definately recommend as Buxton itself - very relaxing and scenic with some lovely walks on the moors right on your doorstep.

Could not get the DVD player to work but had laptop so no problem and wi-fi was good. Parking is £3.70 per 24hrs but didn't find a problem getting up or finding a space, but remember not to leave cars in public car park the night before the markets as they set up very early. Very nice apartment in the old part of Buxton, ideal to explore the town but remember it is at the top of a hill. Great surrounding area to explore with lovely scenery all around the town. ideal for a large group with elderly/wheelchair users as the lift was good and all on one level makes access to all rooms easily, the ramp could do with some attention to get into the building. We had a relaxing break with everything you could want for in walking distance.

Just love it! Always a lovely welcome chocs and wine to greet us. This year we were additionally impressed with the beautiful art work on display and for sale (took one home!). Owner makes every effort to accommodate our requests and housekeeping staff very helpful. Only suggestion- could you pls leave a broom and mop & bucket so we can keep the lovely kitchen pristine. • "This is a lovely holiday apartment - when you go in down the long corridor it feels very luxurious."

It was very clean and the beds are comfortable. The only thing lacking was kitchen scissors. The only thing to warn of that if Buxton is very noisy (such as because England won) then the noise does carry inside and not everyone will sleep through it.

  • "Hi It was a great apartment in a great location."

The only problem was the fire alarm went off a few times in the night. Also - it would have been helpful to have more than one key for 8 people. Wine on arrival was wonderful, but as boring as it sounds essentials like washing up liquid and bin liners might have been handier. Other than that - amazing. Enormous luxurious apartment which perfectly suited kids and adults with mobility problems. Andrea

What an amazing find! The corridor on entering the apartment is impressive leading to all the beautiful rooms. It is spotlessly clean with minimal decoration. I loved the chairs in the bedrooms - would love to know where they were bought please. . It was very comfortable in every respect, well equipped and in a perfect location. Buxton is such a friendly town; everyone was so chatty and helpful . We had a great Sunday lunch in Gilbert's and liked the Old Sun Inn for lunch. Poole's Cavern was very interesting and well worth a visit . I wish we had booked the apartment for longer and would love to return . Thank you for a fabulous weekend and also for the wine and chocolates . We were certainly made to feel welcome. Will definitely book with Sykes again if this is the standard we can expect

It is a great place to base yourself from for days out in the Peak District. The property is conveniently located in the heart of Buxton within easy reach of bars and restaurants and the railway station. Since we have no plans to go back to Buxton in the short to medium term we would not book the property again but we would highly recommend others that have not experienced Buxton and the surrounding areas to book this.

The location was perfect for access to all the events and shows in Buxton that we wanted to see. We would definitely recommend this property and we will almost certainly book it again next year if it's available when we visit. The only comment is that there was only one set of keys and although there was a key safe by the outer front door, it would have been useful to have a second set for a flat that sleeps 8.

They were immaculately clean and the beds are super comfy. We stayed in both flats in this building as a group of 10 and had a fantastic weekend in and around Buxton. The flats themselves are located in a lovely square about a 10 mins walk from the main high street. The square has a high density of country feel pubs and a fantastic fish and chip shop. If a group of you are staying in Buxton, look no further, this is where you want to stay!

  • "The flat at 11 Eagle Parade was fabulous - such a good find."

It felt like more of an apartment than a flat as all the rooms were huge and beautifully-furnished. The coloured-lights on the bathroom mirrors were an extra special surprise and source of much excitement :-D. Only negatives were that the lounge wasn't as cosy as we thought due to the sofas not being very comfy (perhaps a personal preference), but the lounge didn't invite you to come back and relax after a day walking in the Peak District. Also, we weren't sure if we needed to strip the beds/where to leave towels and we couldn't find anywhere for the recycling. To end on a plus, this really was a stunning flat overall and the beds were luxuriously comfy.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
