  • "Well equipped and very spacious apartment."

Very clean and warm. We had a family get together and the apartment was a great space for socialising and good sized bedrooms. Well located for shops, park, pavilion and restaurants. We very much enjoyed our stay.

  • "We had an excellent stay, thank you."

4 ladies travelling together - a room each though two did opt to share as the small room felt a bit too small for adults (no where for clothes etc). Nice bed linen and comfortable beds. Super location. Excellent, well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room. One shower perhaps the only downside and the second bathroom was very dark. However, on the whole, perfect.

  • "A pleasant apartment that provided a good base for our stay in the Peaks."

Because we stayed over a bank holiday, the noise levels from the nightclub opposite were a bit of an issue (it sounded like there were parties in the street outside until about 4 every morning of our stay!). The large family room was also very warm at night! Would have been great to have a note in the guest information pack to say that the private car park was available for us to use on bank holidays, not just weekends. Otherwise we were really happy with the place.

  • "The apartment was just as described."

Well equipped. Tea, coffee and sugar provided. And a bottle of wine and a packet of biscuits. Plenty of spare toilet paper. There was even an additional WC that I had not spotted in the description. Location very central. There was a little noise from delivery trucks and market being set up but really not an issue. We took ear plugs but didn’t use them. The apartment could comfortably sleep 8, so more than one set of keys would be useful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your feedback following your holiday at 12 Eagle Parade. The property is located in the centre of Buxton which is a popular, busy tourist town. We do advise that there is a pub/restaurant within two minutes walk away. We have been assured that these are not noisy. Property Owner

The owners were so helpful and went above and beyond for my mums arrival (60th surprise). The apartment was clean modern and finished to a very high standard with quality fixtures and fittings. Being in the centre of Buxton there are stunning views but also lots of restaurants, parks, bars and shops. Highly recommended and we will return.

The kitchen was fully equipped. A good location near the town, shops and restaurants. A bit noisy at night due to the pub and club below. Could do with an additional full bathroom with the number of people it accommodates.

Beautiful apartment, spacious, and exceedingly comfortable. A little noisy from the night club but didn’t really bother us. Suited 3 generations with the help of the lift. Would definitely go back, if in the area. Thanks for a great stay.

  • "Overall it was a good holiday but spoilt by a few SIMPLE things which would have made it a great holiday."

No grab rails in the shower in what is supposed to be a less-abled apartment No handy shelves for shampoo etc or hooks behind doors, (I supplied one for the small bathroom) only six mugs when there could be 8 people staying. There is a dishwasher so there should be at least 12 supplied. Two sets of keys would be nice. Some instructions for the heating system as it seems to come on at odd times and in the night. No scissors. Both towel rails in the bathrooms are loose and fall off frequently No bedside table in the small bedroom.

If I was to have one complaint though, its the key safe box was really tricky to get in to and only 1 key between 8 of us wasn't the best of solutions,so personally I would suggest maybe putting a key code lock on the doors in case people wanna come back at different times, but that was only a minor thing!

I stayed with 6 other friends and we celebrated my birthday. I have never felt a bed so comfortable! The house was well stocked for self catering needs, with all the tools that you would need, and the bathroom and living room were of a very high quality. Buxton was a charming town with lots of lovely cafes and pubs. The nightlife seemed to be quite bustling and went on quite late, which wasn't too much of a problem for us, but could be for others. Overall, the apartment was amazing and incredible value for money. Thanks Sykes Cottages for making my birthday weekend so special!

  • "We had a totally fab holiday!"

The apartment was amazing! It was very modern but we loved the beams and oak furniture. It was clean and very welcoming. The only downside would be I had to keep moving the car as no onsite parking for the whole week. Buxton is a fab little town and so beautiful. Lots to do and we all want to come back again next year! If your younger and enjoy clubbing and pubbing this is the place to be! Fab local transport and generally a fab place to be.

  • "Visited in August 2018 and it is a great apartment as described in a great location for access to activities and walking."

A few things to note. 1. Due to the location close to some bars and clubs it is noisy till 1 or 2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Lucky for us it was not really hot so didn't have the windows open but if we had it would have been difficult to get to sleep. I think it does mention this in the description but you never really know how it is going to be. 2. Wifi when working is good however it did keep disconnecting even if sat next to the router in the lounge. would have to go through and keep manually re-connecting / restarting wifi on the tablet which was frustrating other times it just worked as expected. Also I guess because of the type of walls the signal didn't reach the family room very well so could perhaps do with an extender to that end of the apartment. 3. It could do with some bigger glasses because the largest available are small mason jars which just were not big enough. Same with the mugs for tea / coffee but this is a personal thing so not a complaint. Would stay again.

The cleanliness and apartment in general is second to none. We stayed Friday and Saturday night as a group of 6 ladies and will defo be back. The only small downside is can be a little noisy at night as pubs and nightclubs a stones throw away although this did not greatly affect the fab time we had. But once inside the apartment is stunning and in a fantastic location. There were 8 adults staying for a 50th birthday celebration weekend. We lived comfortably with out feeling that we were on top of each other. The rooms were beautifully decorated with high quality furniture, bedding etc. I have never used Syke's cottages before but if this is the standard I would definitely use them again and cannot wait to stay in this apartment again. They were immaculately clean and the beds are super comfy. We stayed in both flats in this building as a group of 10 and had a fantastic weekend in and around Buxton. The flats themselves are located in a lovely square about a 10 mins walk from the main high street. The square has a high density of country feel pubs and a fantastic fish and chip shop. If a group of you are staying in Buxton, look no further, this is where you want to stay!

The apartments are immaculately clean and furnished with good quality furniture and bedding. They are well heated, have endless hot water and all the kitchen utensils, and extras like high chairs, iron, hoover that you could possibly need. It is so conveniently located for local amenities, as most places are within a 10 minute walk. We could not have been more pleased with both apartments.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
