"Lovely, cosy, warm cottage in a tranquil setting."
It was equipped with everything needed for our stay. Natural bedding was a welcome change to synthetic. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend High Grove.
-
"Absolutely wonderful cottage, the best equipped we have ever stayed in."
Also, it is so comfortable and pleasant with lovely views and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The only sounds we heard were the calls of the birds. We would recommend it as a place of peace and relaxation and yet it is so near to Ludlow and all its charm and history.
Thank you all so much! Property Owner

"If you're looking walkable access to a pub/shop, this isn't the place for you."
If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is very much the place for you. You will need a car to stay here unless you do not plan to venture out. Only a few miles from Ludlow, but you are very much in the country. Apart from the odd passing car or plane overhead, all you hear are animals or the breeze. Great view over the paddock towards the hills - never tired of looking at it. The property is comfortable, warm and well-equipped with a patio area which catches the sun in the evening. Wifi was very good, considering the isolated location. The bedroom is built into the roof, so watch out for trusses and don't bang your head. Be aware that you may be greeted by a large barking dog. Don't worry, he and his friend are actually very friendly. The owner lives next door, but makes a point of not being intrusive, whilst being available if required. We arrived to find a home-made cake waiting for us - happy days! We really enjoyed this property and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat.

"The owner of the property is very nice and accommodating ."
The 4 stars are just for the long narrow windy roads. My car struggled in places.

"It was perfect for me."

"We only had 3 nights here over New Year but we found the accommodation to be very clean and comfortable."
The location is very remote but ideal for a relaxing and peaceful break. We were welcomed with a lovely fruit cake, fresh flowers and a pint of milk which was lovely. Would be happy to recommend this cottage to anyone.

"High Grove is a lovely property in a very peaceful setting."
I felt at home as soon as I walked in. The environment was safe and secure; factors that are important to me as a person travelling alone. I hope to return again, probably for a longer period so that I can carry on exploring.
-
"Lovely, comfortable cottage with really thoughtful little touches left by the owner such as fresh flowers, milk and a delicious home made cake!"

"Our second very enjoyable stay here."
Accommodation is clean, comfortable and well equipped. A lovely quiet peaceful location but still well located for exploring the area. Sarah the owner is friendly and helpful but never obtrusive; the perfect balance when you have the escaped daily routine for a few days. Home made cake on welcome tray much appreciated! Would revisit without hesitation and highly recommended.

"This is the best holiday I've ever had!"
The property was fantastic and the location was beautiful! There is a Sainsburys nearby along with a fantastic farm shop. The dogs are wonderful and there are horses and sheep along with chickens (but they don't just roam around ready to peck you!) The host is lovely and so very kind. She will leave you be and is wonderfully helpful if you want to have a chat.

"When we booked this property it was under the proviso that there were lots of country walks in the immediate area."
There are, but they are on the country lanes - there were very few public footpaths to walk along away from the lanes. All the gated areas off the country lanes were farmers’ fields with private property signs displayed. You had to drive to do any proper walking. This was very disappointing to us. Also we did not find the owner particularly friendly. She was around when we arrived and on the day of leaving she never came to say goodbye. We thought this was very rude as the owners of the last cottage we booked with yourselves were extremely friendly indeed. Also to leave one toilet roll for the guests is downright mean (just as well we bring plenty with us). We won’t be going back.
Thank you for your comments. I do work mornings and afternoons and am always available for a chat if guests wish and like to be friendly as seen on previous reviews, but I leave it to guests to decide if they want to chat or not as many people book the property for the peace and solitude so I don't assume they want to be disturbed. It's a self catering property and I provide starter items, and also leave fresh flowers, tea tray with homemade cake, soaps, special cooking oils and all the cleaning products to help guests when they arrive. We do advertise that it is a smallholding in ten acres and it is indeed a rural country location with several footpaths in the area which can be found on the ordinance survey maps which I also happily provide at the property for guest convenience. "Een mooie, gezellige cottage, van alle gemakken voorzien."
Goed uitgeruste keuken, prima douche en een heel comfortabel bed. Rustige, mooie omgeving. Een heel aardige gastvrouw. Bij aankomst stond er een lekkernij klaar en melk in de koelkast. We hebben hier een heerlijke week gehad.
-
"We were welcomed by the owner on the day and made to feel very welcome."

"A very comfortable holiday home in a very peaceful & quiet location."
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend to others.
-
"A lovely, welcoming place in a beautiful quiet location."
It was well equipped with everything we needed for a self catering short stay. In a good situation for visiting Ludlow with good shops and restaurants and stunning walks not to far away. We walked to the top of Long Mynd where the view was worth the climb. We would happily go back as a weekend wasn’t long enough to do and see everything on our list.
-
"Highly recommend this holiday cottage."
Warm welcome on arrival including milk in the fridge, fresh flowers on the table and home baked chocolate cake! The cottage felt like a home from home and was in very good condition with all the equipment you could possibly need. Property location is in the country side with wide views of the surrounding landscape, perfect. Ludlow is a 10 minute drive with many other attractions within a short drive. We would be very happy to stay here again in the future.
Thank you. It was a pleasure. Property Owner

-
"We were welcomed by the charming host and given every attention by two friendly dogs."
A quiet and peaceful haven within easy reach of all the facilities of Ludlow. The cottage offers plenty of information on surrounding places of interest and there is a great variety of walks to be explored in the vicinity.
-
"Lovely location, really peaceful and lovely surroundings."
Cottage was so nice and well equipped. Chickens wandering past the window, horses in the fields, and two lovely friendly dogs. Cake on arrival and met by Sarah who was very friendly and on site if needed. Would definitely recommend.
-
"Beautiful Country side and oh so quiet a real retreat from the world"
-
"Very comfortable cottage in beautiful countryside."
Helpful and friendly owner.
-
"High Grove was a well equiped, clean and comfortable cottage situated in a peaceful and picturesque hamlet ."
Sarah was an excellent host. We loved the animals on the farm and visits from Sarah's friendly dogs.
-
"We had an amazing time, the cottage is lovely and has everything you can need for a comfortable holiday."
The views are fantastic. It was great to be able to have the quietness and the only sounds we could hear were the birds singing and the chickens and watching the horses grazing in the fields in front of us. The 2 dogs Alfie and Brodie are so friendly and we enjoyed them throughout the week. Lovely walks nearby and further afield. Sarah the owner is really friendly but does not intrude on your holiday. Would definitely recommend.
-
"Excellent place to stay for exploring this lovely area of Shropshire."
Cottage beautifully furnished with everything needed, especially the kitchen equipment. Lovely views over the hills and friendly animals.
-
"Highgrove was just beautiful, the cottage was so well equipped, with stunning views and the peace and quiet was just what was needed."
we had a perfect two day break and couldn't have asked for anything more. We were welcomed with home made cake, and having the animals around the yard was simply an added bonus.
-
"Excellent relaxing holiday, only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Ludlow."
A very quiet location which suited us perfectly, fantastic views from the property, highly recommended.
-
"Beautiful scenery, very relaxing although it was early November the cottage was very cosy and warm, would definitely recommend and book again."
-
"High Grove was a beautiful cottage."
The cottage itself was even better than the pictures, the view out of the living room to the hills and beautiful sunsets was amazing. The only surprise was being supplied 1 toilet roll but I would think that the owner would supply more should it be requested as they seemed very friendly and cared about our stay. The other thing was that there were no measuring spoons in the kitchen though cup measures were available, so if you want specific teaspoon/tablespoon measures take you own. However, do not let these comments put you off. A final note is that you should not expect quality wifi in the cottage even though it is provided, but that is due to location and actually it was nice to have a break from the world of the internet. I offer these more to prepare a potential visitor than as a criticism as this cottage and the holiday was wonderful. This cottage is excellent, especially considering the price it is offered for. We would definitely consider staying again and would recommend it to others.
-
"Look at the istructions for arrival."
We followed the instructions and drove up a very steep road which was very narrow and bad surface. Our car could hardly make it. The owner of the cottage stated that no one should travel that way. Please change the route. discuss it with the owner. We ignored the SatNav as we thought we should follow the instructions-bad decision.
-
"A fantastic cosy little barn conversion cottage with everything you could possibly need."
The owner was very friendly and helpful and we really appreciated the loan of an OS map and the home baked cake. The bedding may have looked pretty but was ridiculously warm considering we stayed in August, the bed was made up with a heavy winter duvet, bedspread and blanket, we ended up stripping the lot off and just using the duvet cover. We loved the horses, sheep and chickens and particularly Alfie the dog. We would definately recommend staying here
-
"Lovely location(although not the easiest to find initially with sat nav directing us up a single track road no passing places."
.. there was a better alternative!) Owner very pleasant, accommodation very comfortable and plenty of little towns to visit... lovely week break
-
"The lady who owns the place is very friendly and lovely, gave us plenty of space during our stay."
We had pleasure exploring her farm with many cute & friendly animals, inc. horses, chickens, sheep and a super cute dog! We were looking for a quiet place to get away and this place was perfect for us, surrounded by beautiful countryside and lovely neighbourhood. There are plenty of beautiful towns and villages near by for us to explore and a wonderful Ludlow farm shop to get some special treats from while social distance was being observed, so we felt safe to go and enjoyed a bit of normality during this unusual time. It was a very special and memorable place for us. Hope to go back one day!

"If you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay in a rural location, which is very well equipped and comfortable, then Highgrove is ideal."
Obviously designed for couples, it has a very homely feel and is well laid out, unlike some I have seen. Compact, rather than small, comes to mind. There was nothing missing that I felt I could have done with, especially in the kitchen, and the washing machine might prove useful for longer stays (or mucky days out!) although I didn't use it. The sofa is comfortable and the french doors looking out onto the hills are a delight, especially in the evening. The nearby countryside makes for lovely short walks, although other good walking and cycling terrain is only a short drive away, as I discovered. The Long Mynd and Elan Valley are especially recommended, although best enjoyed at quieter times. Ludlow is a very pleasant and interesting town just a few miles away, with plenty of options for eating out. All in all, a very enjoyable and relaxing break.

"We had a very restful break in the cottage."
Ludlow is an interesting place to visit also Tenbury Wells. The cottage was very clean and well cared for It is very cut away from the town and quite difficult to find especially at night. It would have been nice to have a DVD player as television programmes were a bit limited at Christmas and we were unable to obtain internet channels on the t.v.
-
"Lovely position, The owners were very helpful."
We had a very nice and relaxing experience. Ludlow is close and has some nice eating places. The location is ideal to visit various places of interest.
-
"High Grove was a great place to stay."
The owner was friendly and helpful and we had everything we needed and were warm and comfortable. The only issue we had was not being able to find the place using the directions you gave us. Mention of the Village Hall and directions from there would have been helpful.
-
"The cottage was lovely and great to find at the last minute for the Ludlow food festival after being let down by Airbnb - lesson learned!"
-
"Absolutely loved the location of the property, friendly owners, dogs and horses."
It was so peaceful, loved hearing the birds in the morning. Perfect place to completely unwind. Extra amenities that shows owners went the extra mile including soap in bathroom, oil, salt, pepper, a lush homemade cake, garden herbs and even bleach (small things to feel at home). Will recommend to anyone.
-
