  • "A lovely quiet setting!"

Everything you require is there in this very spacious accommodation! We had an elderly relative with us who managed to get around the property fairly well [there were a couple of steps to be tackled in the kitchen/dining area]! Great walks on your doorstep or a short car ride away! A wonderful venue for a family celebration! Thank you!

The rooms are comfortable and clean whilst having a fantastic cottage vibe! Great kitchen to bash out a Christmas dinner. The local pub served great food as well. • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Butler's Lodge, which is a truly lovely property - indeed, I don't think the description did the setting justice, as the view from the property over the field at the back (particularly at sunset) and the little wood next door (which the kids loved to play in) were amazing."

It was all very clean and nice too. A few little niggles which would improve it further (but didn't detract from the stay) was that the toilet in the second bedroom en suite was tricky to flush (the handle needed wiggling afterwards to stop water pouring out continually), and also it would have been nice to have more than one toilet roll per bathroom as it meant we needed to go out and buy more during our stay - for this level of property I'd have expected shower gel and kitchen roll to be provided too, for a truly luxurious home from home feel. But overall it was lovely and we would book again :-)

It’s in a quiet, private location .The scenery is absolutely beautiful. Walks are literally on the doorstep but also the surrounding villages have enough amenities should you require some retail therapy or food shopping. For us this was the perfect combination. The Lodge itself has everything you should need. The open kitchen/ diner really works if you are a large group wanting to cook, chat, or simply play games together. The living room fits you all in comfortably and having 4 bedrooms with access to a separate bathroom for each bedroom is definitely a huge plus if like us you are going as couples . I would highly recommend to anyone and I would definitely go back.

Never tired of the wonderful views as we drove down the lane to the property. The property was spacious, clean and catered for all our needs. Has to be said that the main bedroom is amazing. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. We were able to cycle and walk directly from the Lodge, which was a bonus. The position, away from busy roads, meant that the children were able to go and explore in safety. Lots to see and do around the area and we managed to visit Bakewell, Matlock, Dovedale, Carsington water, Chatsworth, Ashbourne and Tissington. We were blessed with good weather on our visit and sitting outside watching the sun go down over dinner was one of my favorite times. All in all, a great place to stay. The house is beautiful and offers all the facilities and equipment needed for a comfortable stay. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch too. We had a lovely evening with the firepit and marshmallows up on the terrace when we had a clear sky to watch the stars. The only slight niggle was the speed bump as you come down the drive, it was nearly impossible to get over it without scraping the underside of your car! Just go as slow as physically possible to get over it in tact

    Reviewed by Rachael5.0May 2022

  • "Electricity cut out several times during our stay."

We had to use a step ladder to reset the fuse. Not everyone is comfortable doing this. I would expect an immediate electrician investigation. The en-suite shower to the rear (2nd) bedroom was very poor. Frequently a dribble & worryingly either very hot or scolding - would not let a child or elderly person use. The location is great and general atmosphere excellent. I suggest lowering the speed bump part way down the drive. Even easing my car over at 2 mph it caught the underside, surely it isn’t necessary on that track? Generally a good stay but another case of the owners not staying there and sampling their own product to eliminate the glitches

There was an issue with the electrical trip switch flicking off on on 3 separate occasions but jazzy was very quick to help and advise. I trust she will sort out what is causing this - I think it might have affected the timing of the radiators which seemed to come on in the morning but not in the evening. This property has the WOW factor, the photos don’t do it justice. A stunning well equipped kitchen with a wonderful aga. The dining table was sufficient for 10 people to sit comfortably around, and the lounge was very spacious. Underfloor heating and the log burners made it very snug. The master bedroom with french windows giving stunning views across the fields beyond, with its additional walk-in wardrobe area and en-suite bathroom was the icing on the cake. All the bathrooms and bedrooms were exceptionally clean. The outside space was fantastic too with bbq and fire pit. We were welcomed with a thoughtful hamper of treats from jazzy our host and on the couple of occasions we made contact was very quick to respond.
