  • "Totally regardless of covid situation, I expect a so called 4* accommodation to be ‘clean’."

Given that people have not been able to stay at these places for best part of 18 months, lots of time to clean, put right any flaws, faults etc. We are in our 60s, husband made redundant because of covid, desperate to get our family together (as our son and family live few hours away) we spent over £4,500 of hard earned money. The cleanliness was none appalling. Fire extinguisher with pin missing and almost empty. Rope stair rail hanging off the wall. Filth down the side of a single bed our grandson slept in. Cobwebs on the front of a wardrobe. Weak, very hot or very cold uncontrollable showers, a tray of old bacon fat, filthy inside of a cupboard with food left by other people, a hinge on top of fire door with no screw causing problem to shut door, I could go on. How on earth this is in any way acceptable for the rating you give it. People need to see ‘real, up to date photos and see real reviews. I would like to share photos/videos which we will on various review sites We made the best of a bad situation

  • "We had a fantastic time renting the house last weekend."

14 adults on our annual kid free getaway. The house is really well equipped, beautiful location, great hot tubs and a fantastic karaoke / disco room which was well appreciated! Highly recommend for a group party or family getaway. Thanks!

  • "Everything was great for our long weekend stay!"

The kitchen was well equipped and the house was big and spotless. Lovely views and some nice walks nearby. The hot tubs were perfect (and the dressing gowns were a lovely touch!) Would visit again and recommend to anyone looking at Hazlehead House.

It was spacious, warm, homely and comfortable with some great walking opportunities on the door-step and other attractions within easy reach.

  • "The cottage was absolutely lovely and I would 10 out of 10 recommend it."

The only thing that let it down was the showers. There was virtually no water pressure and the hot water would cut out half way through! But apart from that it was great!

We did have a bit of trouble with a couple of the showers not working properly but it didn’t effect our stay and would love to return in the future .

  • "We were disappointed with the property and it did not reach our expectations from previous rentals."

We did not feel the property was decorated to a level we would expect as paint work was messy, Bathrooms were basic and showers struggled to get to the correct temperature (one had a cracked basin) Beds were uncomfortable. Had issues with flies. Top bedrooms were very basic one even lacked a main light. Other had a constant drip from water tank. We did love the aga. The garden was big and enclosed ( although one gate was blocked up by 2 pieces of wood and a large rock) very easy to access trans-pennine way.

  • "We stayed at the cottage as a group of friends with young children and would have no hesitate recommending this cottage."

The cottage was spacious, the garden area large and perfect for letting children explore safely, and the hot tubs were a welcome touch of luxury for the grown ups. We found the kitchen to be well stocked and the bathrooms clean, and Sarah the Housekeeper who welcomed us was lovely. The only thing I would flag to prospective guests is that the second floor with two bedrooms on it, can only be accessed through one of the bedrooms on the first floor. This is mentioned on the online description so shouldn't come as a surprise - and was not an issue for us - but it was the one thing that stops the cottage from being otherwise completely perfect!

  • "I booked the cottage for my 30th birthday party and it was a fantastic weekend."

The separate 'wings' of the house meant the people could pick and choose where they wanted to sleep in a variety of sized rooms. The only room that was a bit tricky was the one with the stairs in it, but not a major problem - we just put the person most likely to stay up the latest in there! The kitchen is brilliant, a really lovely sociable space. We didn't even use the dining room, although the table could fit a substantial amount of people around it. The hot tubs were so lovely! Its a shame there is no way to open the window between the two tubs, so its a bit more sociable, but we ended up using the inside one mostly anyway. Time runs away from you in the hot tub, we spent hours out there! There is a footpath nearby to the cottage that leads to the village and pubs - saved us walking on the roads and much more scenic. There is a supermarket not too far a drive away. I would 10% definitely recommend this cottage to anyone - thank you!
