  • "A lovely place to stay for a 3 night winter break, very warm, clean and comfortable."

    For 2 couples and our small dog it was ideal. Parking for 2 cars and an enclosed garden. Handy to have supermarkets you could walk to, as we didn’t eat out in the evenings because of Covid and it was the weekend before Christmas, restaurants were busy. We ventured as far as Lyme Park (NT), Buxton and Castleton but it would be a good base for visiting other places.

  • "When we arrived, after a long journey, the house was lovely and warm."

    Everything was so clean and the hosts seem to have thought of everything. We had a wonderful stay, despite all the snow! Value for money was amazing. We'll definitely be booking again and everyone in our party would definitely highly recommend Cromwell View. Just fantastic!

  • "Stayed the weekend for my husband’s birthday and had a lovely stay."

    The house had everything we wanted and was very comfortable. There were 6 adults and a dog in our party and the downstairs accommodation was very roomy. The 3 double bedrooms were great and it was very useful having 2 bathrooms and a toilet downstairs. Wouldn’t hesitate to book this house again.

  • "This was a very nice and comfortable holiday home."

    Very close to the village. Parking was on the drive although on a slope and a bit narrow. I was very impressed by the thoughtfulness of the owners - there were dishwasher tablets, washing capsules and everything really that you might need was provided. The bedrooms were very spacious and the bathrooms lovely. There were dog towels and a blanket. Constructive feedback - a full length mirror would be good. You would save money if the heating were on a timer as we kept forgetting to turn it off/right down overnight. Also a security light outside would save electricity because we kept forgetting to turn that off too. Lastly, there was no front door key which was a bit worrying as if there had been a fire in the lounge we couldn't have got out. My elderly father would have found getting into the house much easier through the front door. Other that those small things, it was a very nice place to stay.

  • "Lovely house really pleased with everything… it was a shame that the fridge was dirty, as was the cutlery drawer and cooker hood."

    Seems picky and didn’t take long to resolve but they were not to the same standard as the rest of the accomodation.

    I am very sorry to read this .l am not local so am unable to check that the very high standards I would expect to find myself are maintained. I have raised the issue with the domestic service to ensure this doesn't happen again. Property Owner

  • "Cromwell view offered us very clean and comfortable accomodation for our stay."

    It was more than adequate in size for 2 adults and 2 dogs. It was well equipped for at least 6 people with everything needed during our stay, although I would like to suggest a few chopping boards for the kitchen. (meat and veg) . Great shower and good sized towels! It is located in an ideal place for exploring many parts of Derbyshire and Peak District as well as having the lovely walks of Eccles Pike and Combs Reservoir with a mile. Wild swimming is also available in Combs Reservoir! You'll also find OS Maps of the local area and beyond as well as a few books about walks. A welcome pack explained a few things regarding the house but a contact number for any emergencies would be nice. The fish n chip shop recommendation was superb, and only 50ydd from house! The changeover of the house is left to cleaners and departing guests putting things back in the place. For us it resulted in a blanket that the owner has requested be used for dogs on furniture, being used by the cleaners to make up one of the beds?? We would be happy to stay at Cromwell View again.

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay, Rachel the property owner, supported ourselves with a brief welcome message."

    On arrival the cottage was clean and tidily presented. Very easy to find. The view from the top bedroom skyline once bypassing the over grown trees was delightful across miles of rolling hills. The cottage had everything needed to make the stay comfortable and the log burning fire was a delightful treat for the evening. We look forward to returning back to a Sykes cottage again soon

  • "Nothing in the listing references a factory being behind the cottage and working throughout the night,also a train line is very close and being used throughout the night so it is noisy at night."

    One bedroom has no items for storing any clothes in. Lovely place and town and everything is within walking distance.

  • "The house itself was fine but we were very dissapointed with the views from the whole house, looking onto a street with parking signs and an old building to looking out to a doctors car par at the back."

    The information on the house in the booklet was poor, and we felt there was a lot of things missing in the kitchen utensils.There was no outdoor seating apart from the pergola and there were 5 of us staying, and it was'nt adequate for us as a family to be able to sit in the garden.

    Thankyou for your feedback. We are so disappointed that Cromwell view didn't meet your expectations. I am sorry you found the kitchen utensils lacking, I thought I had thought of everything. About the location


Chapel-en-le-Frith is known as the Capital of the Peaks, it has an historic core including a cobbled market place and historic old stocks. There are a range of independent shops and services, including supermarkets and award-winning cafes and restaurants.
Chapel is home to one of the Peak District's principal traditional carnivals held in June and also a well dressing festival. May Day celebrations also take place in the market place.
There is an Old Town Trail which is a free self-guided walking tour of Chapel's historic centre, featuring the 13th Century Church of St. Thomas Becket, 18th Century Church Brow and the traditional Market Place with stocks and ancient cross.
Just four miles away lies the spa town of Buxton, famous not only for its therapeutic spring water, but also for its Pavilion Gardens and splendid Victorian Opera House, and which boasts a variety of shows, attracting people from all over the world.
A short drive away are an abundance of attractions including the Blue John Cavern, Kinder Scout and the castle at Castleton. There are many stately homes such as Chatsworth House and Lyme Hall all within easy reach.
Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way and Snake Path are easily accessible by a short drive as is the beautiful Sett Valley Trail towards New Mills.
Edale – an alternative start of the Pennine Way - is only a few miles away.
