  • "We had a lovely stay."

From the first moments we felt welcome. The cakes, fresh flowers and wine and all the goodies were so welcome after a long drive. The barn is very well equiped and the extras were really appreciated. The Barn is in a beautiful area with lots to see and do. Highly recommended.

All the key attractions were within 20 to 30 minutes drive which was convenient. Lovely hosts Peter and Annie and their super cute pets gave us a very warm welcome. Peter was very helpful with pointers in regards to days out and restaurants in the area. Wonderful barn conversion with all modern facilities and separate entrance. In addition there was a well maintained garden plus Patio which added to our family time away. Thankyou

  • "The hosts were very welcoming and helpful, everything you needed in the kitchen, and the gardens were wonderful."

The only downside was the noise from the traffic on the main road especially over the weekend with motorcycles speeding up and down. The garden furniture and seating in the lounge a little too low for older people like us

Dear Ann Annie and I are so pleased you enjoyed Ladycroft Barn and its gardens and it pleases us that our hard work is appreciated. Regarding the B 5035, I can only say that the Kniveton road is a country B road and there is a speed restriction outside the barn. We are 50 metres from a 30mph zone. The garden furniture is a high quality teak table and chairs of standard size, and the sunbeds are also of standard height and size. Once again, Annie and I enjoyed having you to stay at Ladycroft Barn and we wish you a wonderful summer. Property Owner

The beds were remarkably comfortable and the kitchen well stocked for all cooking needs. The surrounding landscape is remarkable, with many picturesque walks in Dove-dale close by. We would recommend to all.

  • "The welcome package was much appreciated."

The facility was great, spacious and beautifully located in its own grounds. Although there’s a Washer/dryer we think a washing line or similar would be a good addition. The beds were a little uncomfortable but I don’t suppose it’s easy to please everyone’s tastes. We loved the horses and the dogs. It was a great holiday and I would happily recommend Ladycroft Barn.

Dear Grant thank you for your feedback - and for the lovely messages and card you left in the barn as well! We really enjoyed having you to stay in the barn, and Oscar and Freddie will miss their morning visits to you.... You are very welcome to use our washing line, if you come and stay again, which we hope you will. I'm sorry the mattresses didn't suit you, I do understand we all have different preferences for our bedding. Annie and Peter Property Owner

There were even cream cakes and a bottle of wine for when we arrived! The grounds were beautiful with a lovely patio area where we had breakfast every morning. The hosts couldn't be more helpful and recommended some great places to eat out (one pub within walking distance) Ladycroft Barn was a great location for us to explore the Peak District. We hired bikes and cycled to Bakewell, hiked around Mam Tor, visited Chatsworth and went paddle boarding at Carsington water. Fabulous holiday, would highly recommend Ladycroft Barn.

Checked under the bed to make sure nothing had been dropped. Was disappointed and disgusted at the amount of dust and debris. Probably never been cleaned since the Barn conversion. What happened to deep cleaning? (COVID)

Dear Susan We are so very sorry that you had this experience at our barn. We take great care to clean it ourselves, thoroughly, after every guest has left, and to prepare it for our new guests. We can only apologise that this has happened to you and your family. Thanks to your feedback we will make sure that this oversight in our cleaning system will never happen again: Unfortunately it was as a result of a one-off change in our cleaning arrangements. We can assure you that the rooms are all properly cleaned, by us, and we are proud of the fact that our guests regularly say that Ladycroft Barn is “spotless” in the feedback they leave. Once again thank you for your feedback. Best wishes Annie, Dom and Peter Property Owner

Peter dropped by to say hello and even introduced us to his two fantastic horses and friendly dogs. The barn itself had been refurbished to a high standard with all of the home comforts you’d expect including underfloor heating throughout. The farm produce which greeted us was a nice touch and made for several tasty breakfasts before we set off on our walks. Ashbourne is literally 10minute drive if you’re looking to stock up on anything and the reservoir walk (3 hours full circuit) is only 10 minutes in the opposite direction. A wonderful stay.

The property was very warm, cosy and delightful. The bed linen and towels were also of excellent quality, as were the kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. The decor is modern and stylish with a touch of rustic charm with some very interesting and unusual ornamentation. The soft furnishings are also very elegant and stylish. There's plenty of gated parking, and the gardens have been thoughtfully designed. The view through the large panoramic window is really lovely, especially with all the snow and even with all the rain recently witnessed.

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
