"Cottage was lovely."
We particularly enjoyed the sunny aspect of the garden which had a nice patio set for guests to use. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent communications from the host before we arrived, making our arrival as smooth as possible. Lovely little welcome pack as well. Perfect base to enjoy a week in the Dales. I missed the detail about no TV, but it really wasn't an issue for us, but we are not big TV watchers. Cottage is on the road, so can be a little noisy, but no problem at night for sleeping (even with the windows open).

"White House Cottage is an amazing place for a break."
...we as family of 4 enjoyed it very much. The weather wasn't great but even so we could get around and see lots of beautiful places. The house is very welcoming and nice, loved the fireplace and we did play a lot of scrabble!!! Definitely recommending the place!!
PS. Make sure you get there in the warmer months of the year

"We had a lovely 3 night stay in the White House."
It is perfectly equipped, extremely comfortable, stylishly furnished and so cosy in the evening with the log burner. It is perfectly located in the Peak District with some fab walks right on its doorstep. The owner was also extremely helpful and friendly with the information provided and if we had a question. This was our third stay at the cottage and every time we go we love it even more. Thanks for having us.
Thank you for your feedback and I am so pleased you had such a lovely time, again! Property Owner

"Lovely cottage, really enjoyed our stay, very well furnished and the lounge was particularly cosy."
Great to have 2 sofas and we enjoyed the Aero system which linked up easily to my phone! Beds were very comfortable. The village is only a mile or two from the A6 so easily accessible. One point off for cleanliness as we found there was quite a lot of dust and cobwebs, otherwise an almost perfect stay. And we had a superb meal at the Olde Gate Inn in Brassington.
Thank you and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at White House. We are sorry to hear about the dust and cobwebs and have asked our cleaning company to fix that. Property Owner

"This was our first holiday rental and it could not have been better."
We loved everything about White House! Wonderful place to spend a holiday. The house, garden, and area were perfect for us as they were mid-way between family in Derby and Yorkshire: close to Haddon Hall, Chatsworth, Nine Ladies Stone Circle and loads of other beautiful places. The owners left a nice tray of coffee, tea, Cava and biscuits: a welcomed surprise. All was exactly as shown on the photos: no touch ups. Beautiful and peaceful. We hope White House is available on our next visit to England. ( Happy travelers from Boston, Massachusetts, USA)
Thank you for such appreciative comments. I am delighted that your trip was so enjoyable and hope to see you at White House again Property Owner

The garden is lovely we sat outside a few times. The weather was fantastic. We visited Matlock, Matlock Bath, bakewell , Eyam the plague village, and chatsworth farm shop a must visit! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay on arrival we had tea fresh coffee sugar and cheese biscuits and a bottle of cava.
Thank you to Adrienne for all the information and for the chance of staying at this wonderful cottage. There’s no tv but we enjoyed not having one there’s lots of games books and magazines and plenty of places to visit

"The White House is lovely, very cosy, clean and tastefully decorated."
It’s the perfect base to enjoy all that Derbyshire has to offer. The only negatives for us were the double bed mattress - it was sooooo uncomfortable and lumpy, and the road noise - the cottage faces the road through the village and the sound of the lorries, cars and tractors from 4am was a problem so please consider this when booking.
Thank you for your review. I am glad you liked the cottage but I am sorry to hear about the uncomfortable mattress. We have now replaced it for future guests. Property Owner

"White House provided a peaceful break away from it all."
It was very clean, comfy and tastefully decorated throughout. We enjoyed the local walks that were suggested by the owner; the swathes of bluebells around Cowley Knoll were particularly beautiful at this time of year.

"The White House is beautifully furnished, and very well equipped."
It was an excellent base in this lovely part of Derbyshire.
We enjoyed lighting the log burner each late afternoon and for us, we didn’t miss a tv, enjoying games and cosy sofas to sit and read in.
We felt welcomed by the owner who contacted us with many helpful details and also had tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of cava as a welcome. The heating was very efficient and we were very comfortable during our stay.
Just a note that the house faces the road through the village and the sound of traffic, including lorries and tractors is something to consider when booking.

"White House is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of the world."
Cosy, comfortable and immaculately clean it had everything needed for an autumn walking holiday. Adrienne gave very helpful information in advance and the cottage had great character and individual touches. Finding tea, coffee, milk and biscuits had been provided was a lovely welcoming gesture after a long drive.

"An enjoyable break in a cottage that met all expectations."
Great location for exploring the peaks and Chatsworth. We knew that there was no TV, but I think in this day and age a TV should be considered an essential. Double bed was a bit creaky and led to broken sleep on the first night. I adjusted the base which improved things for the second night.

"We booked the cottage for just a few nights (and immediately wished it had been more) for a girls weekend and a few days walking in the area."
The cottage was well located for Bakewell, Matlock and Chatsworth, with lots of great places to explore on the doorstep.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and the little touches like tea, biscuits and prosecco on arrival were a really nice gesture.
We were extrmeely lucky to have 2 days of glorious sunshine and we enjoyed sitting out in the garden relaxing after a day out walking.
The shower was nice and powerful and the downstairs loo was also really handy. Internet connection was good and it had everything we could need for a few days away. There's no TV, which is the ony reason I knocked off 1 point on facilities. This didn't bother us at all, but it may do if you are travelling with kids. I think this cottage is probably aimed at the adult market a little more as its very tastfully decorated and has lots of good books and games there to keep you enterteined without switching the TV on!
We loved our stay and I wouldn't hesitate to return in the future. Thank you Adrienne and your cleaning team for the fast and friendly communication prior to, and during our stay.

"We decided that for 2020, we needed a relaxing holiday and needed to find somewhere really special."
That is exactly what we got with ‘White House’ when we visited in July.
It really is a stunning house in a lovely, peaceful location. With having booked through Sykes, it was a surprise to hear from the owner, Adrienne, before we went and that personal touch was there throughout. It was lovely to be greeted with a welcome pack that contained wine and good coffee. That had me happy from the start. Fresh coffee every morning from a cafetière! In fact the kitchen was not only brilliantly equipped, but also beautifully furnished, as was all of the house. We had lovely quiet evenings relaxing with music playing through the Bluetooth speaker. It didn’t worry us that there was no TV, although we did utilise the speaker to connect a tablet to and watched a film. The lounge was really comfortable. The weather wasn’t fantastic or the patio would certainly have got more use. The bedrooms were comfortable and again, beautifully presented and as with the whole house, immaculately clean.
It is rare for me to stay somewhere and feel that I really badly want to go back again, but that is how I felt about ‘White House’. I could have just stayed there for the whole summer. A definite ‘5 stars’ from me.
