  • "The cottage itself was quaint and comfortable."

When we arrived at 3pm on December 22nd we couldn't work out where the published parking for 2 cars was. We went into the Social Club where we found out it was in an alley where they put their empty metal containers. We went into the cottage and it was freezing in there. No heating had been turned on and no instructions how to use it or appliances, necessary if you are from another country. I called the number in the book but just got static, and then the phone was hung up. We found the controller, but it didn't work. Again, we went into the club where a customer came upstairs, thought the batteries were dead, and got some from his van. Then problem solved, heating worked. The stairs were very not very people friendly. Should have had another handrail on the other side. Dangerous if young children are staying there. The day before we were leaving, when we got back to the cottage in the evening, we found a car in our parking place and no other space available. When we went into the club, we were told the 2 parking spaces listed for Milford Cottage were actually to be shared with another one. Luckily, one of the customers was leaving the club, so we were told we could take his spot. Lastly, we couldn't lock the lock box, so we called the number again and said we were leaving the key on the dining table and the door open.

  • "The cottage was clean and the beds were very good & comfortable."

Decorated nice. One morning the hot water system was not working, however this was promptly repaired. The living room was dark and had no daylight and very loud due to social club connected to the house. The kitchen tap was constantly running. Not one clothes hanger in the house. They were delivered one day before departure. The alley way to the cottage wasn‘t inviting and neither the chairs next to entrance of house. We had trouble opening the code box for the key and couldn‘t close it again. Actually a nice cottage if only small things items could have been attended to.

  • "The cottage is tastefully decorated and was lovely and warm on arrival."

The 2 double bedrooms are very generous in space with comfy beds. The larger bedroom has a smaller bedroom coming off it that contains bunk beds, fine for children. The cottage was very clean with all amenities that you would need in the kitchen. The dining table is quite small but we were fine eating on our laps. The cottage is owned and run by a community social club which is a lovely addition to the property. The staff there were super friendly and invited us to attend their New Year’s Eve gathering with live music. Our teenage children were very happy as there is a full size pool and snooker table and a dartboard plus it is dog friendly. The area is lovely, plenty of walks including one alongside a golf course accessible just 5 mins walk up the road. We highly recommend the Palfrey restaurant and the Ice Cream cafe, both a 6 min walk away. Highly recommend this property and would return.

Thankyou for your lovely feedback Sam, we're glad you enjoyed your Christmas break. We hope to see you again! Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed staying here."

As a family of four we found the location of the cottage to be excellent. During our stay we were able to visit many tourist attractions all within a reasonable distance from the cottage. The cottage itself was well equipped and perfect for a family staycation.

  • "Lovely cute cottage."

Done up well inside. Wasn’t informed of the code to the key safe, had to keep ringing up for them to contact the owner which was given to us after we had arrived. Property states it is dog friendly and has an outside seating area. This is one chair outside the front door. Which was not ideal for a dog to stay in, as I really struggled to find any grass around for them to go to the toilet. Also states it has private parking for 2 cars which it doesn’t.

Thankyou for your feedback Danielle, sorry you had trouble receiving the text with the key code details although I personally sent them myself so I will make sure to follow up in future if no reply is received. The parking space for two cars is located behind the club as stated on our listing. Glad you liked our cottage, hope you enjoyed your stay! Property Owner

  • "My husband and I had booked a long weekend with our dog, and we loved staying at Milford Cottage."

The neighbours were friendly and welcoming, and gave us good advice on pubs to eat in that were dog friendly. The area was great for walking and there were good countryside walks from the cottage. It was my birthday and the owners very kindly left me a present for when we arrived. All in all, a great place.

Thankyou for your kind review Katherine, glad you enjoyed your stay and had a great birthday. Property Owner

  • "Super location."

Beautifully decorated and furnished cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped. Spotlessly clean. The Strutt Arms pub just opposite serves excellent food and is ‘dog friendly’. Would definitely recommend. Make sure to use the dedicated parking spots at the back of the social club - don’t park along the road.

Pleased to hear you enjoyed everything about your stay Natalie. Thankyou for the kind review. Property Owner

  • "Lovely little cottage."

Sitting room very small and not too practical but overall cottage was great for what we wanted it for. Social Club next door was excellent but the fact one of the doors accesses the club a little concern. Overall, really nice stay and made very welcome. Would recommend the Strutt Arms.

Excellent quality and fresh- a lovely place to stay. Some thoughts for the owners might be to think about a bathroom splash back and 6 Dining chairs in the kitchen Not 4. Some clothes hooks in bedrooms would be great. We'd give in 4.5 out of 5- we really liked it. Thank you.
