“This cottage has been beautifully modernised to make a most comfortable and attractive base tucked off the village High Street with walks up to The High Peak Trail and down to The Cromford Canal past local shops in an area with so much interesting history.”

As we arrived the week before Corona Virus restrictions started to be introduced Hygiene and Privacy were at the front of my mind and I could not have been happier with the cleanliness of the cottage or the friendliness and sensitivity of the caring owners next door. We hope to return and see the area a little later in spring another year.

The property

This is a lovely, detached stone Arkwright cottage in the village of Cromford, home to the famous Arkwight Mills in the Peak District National Park.

Situated next to the owners’ home, the cottage has a lovely spacious feeling, making it ideal for a family holiday.

On the ground floor is a large sitting room with beautiful exposed brickwork, wooden beams and a flame-effect gas fire, giving it a cosy feel whilst opposite is a fully-equipped traditional kitchen with a dining table.

Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, both with low windows and views over Cromford towards the hills beyond.

Outside, there is a patio and a gravelled area with a small path leading to a stone outbuilding, along with a further patio, with a stream running alongside, which also takes in the village views.

The cottage is situated just a ten minute walk from the High Peak Trail and associated cycle routes and the centre of Cromford is just a two minute walk away.

This popular village has a fine selection of shops and pubs and just a couple of miles away, Matlock Bath has a huge selection of cafes and ice cream parlours, and is also the starting point for the cable car that takes you to the Heights of Abraham.

The old mill town of Matlock has a superb range of craft shops, independent stores and bars, whilst the magnificent Chatsworth Estate is just ten miles away.

This delightful cottage is in a great location for discovering fabulous Derbyshire towns and villages, as well as the magnificent walking trails in the Peak District National Park.
