  • "Its a great location minutes form the square in Cromford , the place was very tidy and clean with lots of info and books on places to visit and walks etc - too many to read !"

We have 2 small criticisms - the info suggested there was a private garden & there was no garden , it would have been good to have found a pint of milk when we arrived as no shops were open ( we have been to cottages where you find a cake , milk etc when you arrive . . its a nice touch !

Pleased you found Bobbin Cottage's location convenient. Sorry if you thought there would be a private garden. Sykes use the garden symbol if there is any outdoor space however small. We therefore clearly clarify this in our description by saying 'No garden but small seating area available, off path shared by cottages in terrace' and we include a picture. I don't see how we can be any clearer. We want everyone to be pleased with Bobbin Cottage, so have gone to a lot of effort to be honest in our description so would urge everyone who is looking to book it to read the description in full. We have made a conscious decision not to offer welcome products. Bobbin Cottage is one of the cheapest dog friendly cottages in the area and we have many repeat customers who come back because it is good value for money. To offer welcome gifts we would have to increase our prices to cover purchase of the goods and the labour involved in purchasing and delivering on day of arrival. Property Owner

It’s very small though so wouldn’t recommend to a family with baby & dog/s. The road noise is a lot but would affect most houses in the village. A washing machine & coffee machine would be great if room. Amazing host and lovely base I’d 100% go back and recommend.

Thank you for your review and so pleased you would recommend Bobbin Cottage. As you say its a small cottage, so we just don't have space for things like a washing machine or coffee machine. Lots of people stay with two dogs! but as a one bed cottage we would only consider babes in arms. Property Owner

Having said that it is a very comfortable and clean cottage and makes for an excellent base for exploring the dales and surrounding area, and I would certainly consider another short break in this cottage. 30am for light sleepers although there is secondary glazing which helps with the noise. Parking outside the house and normally plenty space. No garden but seat at the back door. No washing machine or dishwasher and only one bath towel per person for a week plus two dish towels but could request more by contacting the owner. We did not bother but thankfully brought spare ones with us Good facilities otherwise with catch up tv, excellent wi fi and plenty pots, crockery etc.. Loved all the guide books and maps for exploring the immediate area and further afield which were appreciated as was the advance information .Cromford is ideally situated to explore the Peak District and lots to see and do in perfect walking country. Did not try any of the local restaurants but there are good and varied choices in the village and nearby Matlock and Wirksworth. Ideal cottage for two. Very clean and some of the facilities may have been restricted by Covid which was reassuring.

Thank you for your review. We were pleased you found Bobbin Cottage quaint, clean and ideal for two. Bobbin Cottage is on a busy B road, we are honest about this in our description and this is reflected in the pricing structure for Bobbin Cottage. We have installed secondary glazing and blanket lined curtains to minimise noise and many guests say they aren't bothered by noise once inside the property. There was so much more to explore and discover - more to do with the cotton mills and more to do with the earlier lead mining industry. The walking was superb - not enough hours in the day to do all we wanted. The cottage was just right for the two of us and our two dogs. If you fancy a meal out we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Tapas bar in the Market Place, it was absolutely delicious and very good value. The walks around Cromford detailed by the owners were great, but also thoroughly enjoyed the Monsal Trail from Blackwell Mill in Chee Dale (where the gentleman at the cycle hire shop was particularly helpful) to Bakewell. Noisy ,very busy main road outside cottage but don’t let that put you off staying at bobbin cottage as secondary double is very good. Made mistake of leaving bedroom window open first night hardly slept at all ☹️☹️ But after that closed everything & left bathroom window open for air flow which worked a treat, hardly could hear it at all...stairs are steep & uneven ,hard to handle if you have mobility problems . Be aware their is no garden for a dog to be let out into , just a seat outside the back door . Shower was good, but plug/ drain needs clearing out as standing in 6” water when taking a shower ,takes a age to drain away.
