  • "Lovely cottage, road on both sides of the cottage so it was noisy."

Garden not as big as we thought, and we could not walk the dog at all from the cottage. Stairs very slippy, also a handrail on the wall would help. Apart from that we had a good week rest. Freezer was great to have, and we arranged a delivery from Tesco's, so that was brilliant not having to cart food there. Thank you to Terry and Jane,

Thank you for visiting Top Stable Cottage. I think this is the first time anyone has suggested the garden is too small. I would agree that to remain in all day with an energetic dog a much property all together would be necessary. However, the garden has an area with bench seating at the entrance, a lawn and a further separate seating area which is surely reasonable for a cottage which only accommodates 2 people. As regards the stairs, it is a wooden staircase, as can be seen from the photographs. There is of course a handrail on one side of the stairs. Thank you for your feedback, best wishes, Jane Property Owner

  • "Our first visit to Top Stable Cottage."

The property was well equipped, clean and tidy. Too many gates to go through because of one excitable friendly dog. Due to the location of the cottage, we found it was extremely noisy with motor vehicle traffic passing most of the time and for this reason we will not be returning for another holiday.

First of all we are sorry the cottage failed to meet your expectations. The gates you mention were a temporary measure due to building work. These were removed on the Tuesday of your visit. We are also disappointed you found traffic noise a problem. In our experience this is rarely a problem other than when farmers are working in the fields. Again, we are sorry you have been disappointed, thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

The bedroom is quite large with lovely views over the fields. We will miss Frank the dog host. The cottage is central to many scenic areas, Matlock is a short drive away, a walk to Black rock is a must. There is a morrisons and aldi in Belper, 10 minutes drive away, which also has lots of shops to look around. We will definitely be returning to the cottage, it felt like home after just 1 weeks stay.
