A “ little den area” off one of the bedrooms with a comfy couch and another tv is a lovely little hideaway. All three bedrooms like the rest of the home are decorated and furnished to a high standard, comfy beds a great night sleep had by all. Two super bathrooms. Greated on arrival by Lisa, lovely warm friendly greating, made us feel so welcome from the start, so caring even to phoning us on the night to see that we along with mom (93) especially had settled in,which she had. All the little extras, well not so little! teas, coffee's, milk, fresh fruit, wine, bread and butter, a wonderful hamper of goodies and the welcome tea, no feast kept us going a good while. • "Our stay at Cambridge Lodge was brilliant."

From the time we got there with the welcome hamper of food and wine, to the Easter eggs that Lisa had hidden around the place for our son to have an Easter egg hunt, it was brilliant. I have never stayed in such a well appointed and superbly maintained property. The owner, Lisa met us when we got there and showed us around, explaining how things worked and a little bit of history of the place, and was always on hand throughout the stay if we needed her as she lived on the farm about 5 minutes away. Before we got there she said to pack lightly as there was everything we'd need in the lodge, and she was right.. there was. Detergents, sauces, herbs, condiments, sharp knives (something that never exists in holiday lets! ) and even a slow cooker. The property itself is amazing, but does have limited headroom in a section downstairs, you just duck your head when you are there as it's part of the quirkiness of living in such a property. I'm 6ft tall and I didn't hit my head once, I just remembered to duck! I've stayed in many holiday homes over the years, in both this country and USA, both modern and quirky, but this has to be the best by far. Lisa said she wanted to do the job properly and she's certainly done that, I'd thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking to stay in this area, it's lovely and quiet, good links to the main roads and nearby Matlock Bath and has plenty of walks in the immediate vicinity if you just fancy an afternoon or evening stroll.

It is even better than the photographs. The fixtures and fittings are of an extremely high standard. Bedding, towels etc are best quality. All furnishings are very comfortable. It is far more than "a home away from home". It is equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing stay in a lovely area of the Peak District. There is no welcome pack your arrival. Instead you are provided with a "welcome feast", that kept us supplied for days. The owner, Lisa goes above and beyond what you would expect. Her wonderful greeting on our arrival, telephone call on first evening, and unexpected bottle of Prosecco on our return from a day out to celebrate our wedding anniversary, followed up with a telephone call on our return home, shows this is a labour of love. There is no "if" we will return, just a "when" will we return.

The property

An amazing cottage, the type of property that you would marvel at if you saw it on a television programme.

This unique cottage has been expertly converted from a water tank that dates from 1909, and which now offers luxurious accommodation in the heart of the Peak District and was featured in The Times, 50 best cottages in Britain for 2016.

Rurally located in the hamlet of Wensley and with stunning views reaching Chatsworth House and Riber Castle, this cottage offers a truly unrivalled holiday experience for friends and families alike.

Set over the ground and lower ground floors, you enter this magnificent cottage at the ground floor level where you will find a very well-equipped kitchen complete with a dining area and a utility room, a twin bedroom and a bathroom.

Heading down the stairs to the lower ground floor, you are greeted by two double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and the other with a sitting area with a very low ceiling, but which boasts a Smart TV so you can enjoy some privacy as you catch up with your favourite films.

The large sitting room is also on the lower ground floor and contains another Smart TV as well as a separate reading area and study with very low ceilings, which add beautifully to the character of this cottage.

Outside is a lovely patio garden and whichever way you look, you will be amazed by the panoramic views which take in Chatsworth House, Riber Castle and the valleys and hills in between.

The nearby conservation village of Winster boasts a well-stocked community village shop and cafe as well as two excellent pubs, a lovely children's playground and a 17th century Market House which is owned by the National Trust.

The popular market towns of Matlock and Bakewell are close by, as well as there being magnificent walks from the doorstep, whilst for the more adventurous, Carsington Water, with its many water-based activities, is only nine miles away.

This is an outstanding cottage to be enjoyed all year round and will which will linger long in the memory after you have said your farewells!

About the location

WENSLEY

Matlock 3 miles; Bakewell 8 miles.

Wensley is a conservation village which is nestled in the Derbyshire hills just 3 miles from Matlock, with some wonderful walking and stunning views all around. Just one mile away is the conservation village of Winster which is situated within the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place with a charming 17th century market house and other imposing 18th century houses on its three main streets. Less imposing, but no less endearing, are the little alleyways or ‘ginnels’ off Main Street, which are well worth exploring. The village is famous for its Morris dancers, Wakes festivities (every July) and its annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race - a fascinating spectacle! Within the village is a well-stocked community store incorporating a Post Office, and two pubs - both serving food and local traditional beer. Bakewell, Chatsworth and Matlock are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, the village lies within 5 miles of the Tissington and High Peaks walking/cycling trails and The Limestone Way.

Note: No infants or children under 13 for bookings made from the 21st July 2018 onwards
Note: No stag/hen or similar.
