"The cottage was extremely well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean with all amenities that we needed."
It was very quiet at night, so we slept very well. The hosts also stopped by to welcome us and ask whether we had any questions or additional requirements. We felt very much at home and the eggs, milk and biscuits on our arrival were a welcome bonus. The accommodation was also within walking distance of our dry stone walling course on a nearby farm.
Thank you for your kind review. It was lovely to meet you and we're glad you enjoyed your dry stone walling course held locally.
Hopefully we will see you again in the future. Property Owner

"Jim's Barn is very well equipped and has fantastic scenic views across the valley in a rural location on a working farm, but also has nearby facilities in Diggle and Uppermill."
I particularly liked the open plan living and kitchen area which has a beautiful tiled floor with underfloor heating.
Check out the nearby Diggle hotel pub which is really friendly.
There are also some fabulous walks nearby, particularly Dovestones which is well worth a visit, particularly enjoyed the tarmac path up to Chew Resevoir then across the moor to the other side of Dovestones which has some great views. One or two difficult sections, so some might prefer to return by the original path.
Unfortunately the weather prevented us from doing a lot more walking, however, the cottage is so well equipped with games, wi-fi and tv etc you should be able to entertain yourself.
Lovely owners who were helpful but not intrusive.
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback. Glad you managed to walk around Dovestones and also enjoyed the hospitality of the local pub. We hope to see you again in the near future.

"Excellent location for walking in the surrounding hills and even though I was there just after storm Eunice and it was still wet and windy the cottage was a great place to come back to, warm up and dry out."
The pub just down the road was very welcoming and had a good range of real ale as a place to stop at the end of the walking too :)
Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay despite the wild and stormy weather! Property Owner

"The post code that been given covers a very large area and it won't take you to the cottage."
The best way is to goggle the name of the cottage instead when you get to diggle. Email we received about direction talks about sign posts such as school. n the dark finding signs such as name of a school would be difficult.

"Jim's Barn was a perfect location for walking on the Moors."
We didn't need to travel miles in the car each day. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and there was nothing missing that we wished we had. The picnic table on the patio was just the most wonderful place for watching the sun go down and rest our legs after a long Moor walk. We have some stunning sunset pictures. The chicken and horses are friendly, in fact a couple of times we thought a hen was going to come in, but she was just having a look. The 'Singing Cow', was also part of the experience. Don't worry she only sings during the daytime. We had a problem with the smoke alarm and phoned Nigel who told us it was due to a power cut. We'd just boiled the kettle so didn't realise, so any problems are quickly dealt with. All in all a perfect break. Come on woman there must be a grumble ....... yes OK the very hard Titanic Jigsaw has an outside piece missing so don't spend ages looking for it! Thank you for our wonderful week.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're very pleased that you enjoyed your holiday with us and we will endeavour to find the missing jigsaw piece! Our hens obviously have manners and don't enter the cottages without an invitation. We hope you will visit us again in the future. Property Owner

"The holiday was lovely but we felt Restricted on not be able to just get up and ..."
The holiday was lovely but we felt Restricted on not be able to just get up and go for a walk, we had to drive to find a walk as we were not allowed in the Fields, other than that we were happy
e are a working farm so guests obviously can't walk across our fields as
there are no public footpaths in them and they also contain livestock
(horses, cows, sheep). There are lots of walks from the doorstep of Jim's
Barn along the lanes and there is a local map and Information in the
visitors book in the cottage. The Pennine Way is only yards from the farm
and is well signposted. Property Owner

"We had a lovely week despite a lot of rain and wind."
I couldn't fault the cottage and the views. The only thing I would draw attention to is the parking between two muck heaps. I didn't bother us because we are used to the outdoors, but I think some people would not enjoy the smells.

The cottage is well equipped and restored to a really high standard. We had a really good nights sleep in the very comfortable beds. The owner was really helpful, even bringing more wood for the fire when the weather turned cold. Thanks very much would definitely visit again.

"We try to get back to the Saddleworth area every three years and would love to stay at Jim's Barn again."
The narrow road to Jim's was not a problem for us because we had spent the previous six weeks driving around country areas of Scotland, Wales and Ireland, however some drivers might be put off by it. Because the farm also has stables and there is a shooting range further on up the road meant that there was more traffic on the track with limited passing areas.
The view is magnificent, we love the farm environment, and have a special love for the Saddleworth area.
Thank you.
